Bette Davis Eyes

The search for the perfect mascara is never-ending, but I think I may have found something pretty close.  Lancome Fatale.  Made with some new Filtex formula with silicone, it is billed to make your lashes big and long and pretty and stay that way with no smoodging.  It also has one of those tri-bristle wands.  Enough with the yapping about the technology, does it work?

I put it on in the morning and wound up with big, fat lashes, and at 6 p.m. at night, there is not one smudge under my eyes, and all the mascara is on my lashes, and they look exactly the same as they did this morning, which is a miracle. I’m an eye-rubber all day long, and today was a long training day, and I normally come home with bare lashes and black under my eyes, like an unmade racoon.

How great is this?  It’s a perfect 9.9 on a 10 scale. The only thing that would make it better is they will put it in different colors like navy and eggplant and forest (are you listening, Lancome?  That would make me sooooo happy, I would leap with joy!!!) Currently available only in black and brown, and I use brown, but I far prefer dark jewel tones.

Available at the Lancome-usa.com website. While you’re there, pick up an Artliner in Blueberry.  If you’ve been afraid of liquid liners, this is the one to get to start learning to love them.

My eyes are gawgeous, and they stay that way all the day.

Oh, somkething else to try, I’ve ordered it! Love the Artliners, they are just the best.

It was seeing the Blueberry in one of your reviews that had me seeking it out, Kristen!

  • Kristen says:

Yay Fatale! This mascara and the Blueberry Artliner are my favorites from Lancome. I’m loving liquid liner for the fall and the sapphire/navy color of Blueberry is so gorgeous. Have you seen the new Artliner, Starshower? Love it. It’s not exactly black, closer to a nearly-black olive, with a little gold sparkle.

Thanks for the heads up! I need to replace my mascara and I’ve been eyeballing the Fatale. I lemminged on the Blinc Kiss Me for lower lashes and was about to take my lazy butt to the mall for some Dior Show.

Funny, last night I was in an Ulta and thought of you as I looked at the Smashbox primers. I’ll definitely have to play with some soon. Liquid liner, that’s something I’ve been dragging my feet on. I’ve got eyes like Cher and while I’ve admired the look on other girls, I’m afraid I’ll look like Cleo when I’m done. I already have some bangs, so it won’t take much.

I’ve just started using the Prescriptives mascara, and love it. No smudging, makes my lashes huge without being all clumped together, which is really a pet peeve of mine.

Wow, that Jemma Kidd crap — whose idea was that, anyway?!?!?:d My apologies — my favorite part was that the Raccoon Effect it created was extremely difficult to remove — I really had to go after it under my eyes with the eye makeup remover — I tossed it in the trash in disgust. Right now I’m wearing Lancome something … Definicils? it’s got minimal Raccoon Eye but it flakes a little, which I don’t like. I like Lancome products in general, I’ll have to get some Fatale.

BTW a friend just came over, she saw the blog, wants to play!! We just spent two hours upstairs in the candy — I REEK. Plus I put on some more CB Buttcrack… I didn’t prep her for anything, had her smell the CB Buttcrack and the MdeM, both of which caused her to recoil in pure disgust. She DID like the other CBs, though, and Guerlain. (She lurves Caron.) Jicky parfum smelled absolutely amazing on her.

Thanks for the advice, Patty. The Fatale sounds like just the thing.

You are going to hate me, Patty, but I am one of those rare females who actually has naturally long eyelashes. The fellas are usually blessed with them, but so was I.

Problem is, they are not very curly, even though the hair on my head is an impossible tangle. 8-| The point is, that I can pretty much wear any old mascara, and it turns out fine.

As for liquid eyeliner, I used to wear that all the time when I was in my twenties. Then I had to wear my eyeglasses for driving after I moved out here to Cali, so I developed a phobia about putting stuff on my eyes. I even use a light touch with mascara, I am that paranoid about it, lol!

    Hugs!

None. I did an experiment and left it on overnight (late night, up until 2 or 3 a.m., then back up again at 6:30a, and I’ve still got lashes and only very minimal smudging.

Very impressed here with the way it goes on and the way it stays without being icky thick or waterproofy.

  • Patty says:

Sariah, I do like the artliner series by Lancome. It’s got a short tip, which makes it easier to control and keeps it closer to the lashline so you don’t wind up with a big line across your eyes, and it’s shorter.

The hardest ones to master, though if you can, they are great, are the ones with the long, fine brushes. It’s easy for that brush to get loose on you. So the Artline is good to just get in practice, and I’m finding myself preferring it to all of my pencils and other liners right now.

  • Patty says:

The Dior Show is pretty good on me, but it still just rubs off eventually (fine, blonde eyelashes don’t hold onto mascara unless I overcoat it, which isn’t attractive at all).

We tried the Gemma Kidd eyelash tint too, that’s supposed to be great for not smudging and lasting for three days. I call BS on that, racoon-city in three hours and no tint or anything by the end of the day.

The Fatale is really impressive on me.

  • Judith says:

No smudging!! Really?!! I must try this right away! The only mascara that doesn’t smudge on me is Shu Uemera Basic, and I really like this for when I want to look “natural”–but sometimes, “natural” just won’t do, if ya know what I mean,:) Thanks!

  • sariah says:

Hey P – I’ve recently started experimenting with liquid liner, I got a Maybelene one that has a “sponge tip”. So far I am not very good at getting the line straight and look like a clown unless I wipe off the majority with a q-tip. Any advise on the type of applicator that is best, or is it just practise?

  • Christina H. says:

Oooh! I am a sucker for mascara!I’ve been so tempted to get this! Can you compare it against Dior Show mascara which is my current favorite?I also like for mascaras to be in more colors than black and brown. That seems so dull but maybe they’ll add it to the line up later.:) Thank you for reporting on this!
