From WWD’s story released at the original launch in 2007:

Ford Says,”When I was creating Black Orchid [his women´s scent, launched in November], I kept smelling other things I liked — many of which were too expensive to use in a broadly distributed fragrance, and others that we can´t use for a broader fragrance because they won´t appeal to everyone. I kept putting more and more things aside. Finally, it just seemed to make sense to develop them for my store.”

He states these are fully developed fragrances and not one-note products.

  • R French says:

    Dear Perfume people,
Can you tell me how much of each of the perfumes you will be giving us in your
sample sets? Are these little vials a la the classic English sampler? I would be
interested perhaps if I knew what we were getting.
Also, do you have a sample set of Black Orchid? Who has that scent available for
trying? Is it in any of the larger department stores or online.
    Thanks, Rebecca

    • Patty says:

Hi. In the link above, it describes the size of the sample. They are the classic 1 ml sample vial with each scent in them.

I do have samples of Black Orchid as well in my store. Click on the Fragrant Fripperies ad in the upper left. It is also available in larger department stores, yes.

  • Mike P says:

    Um…yeah. I’m on it!

Tom Ford devotees of the world – unite & take over…:)

  • Judith says:

And I keep repeating to myself–I did NOT like Black Orchid!!

  • Judith says:

Stop it, stop it, stop it! I am just picking myself up off the floor about the Chanels. I do NOT need to hear about Noir Noir, Black Violet, Tobacco Vanille, oud wood, or–save me–Tuscan leather. I will be strong. I will, at least wait for the reviews or until I can smell them in stores (what’s the point of living near all these good stores if I can never wait to smell the scents in them)>:((

  • Patty says:

I know. We had to swallow hard to decide to do this because teh bottles are so high and so many. I’m hoping there are some lovely winners in there!

  • Solander says:

They sound gorgeous, almost all of them… I have to pass because of the price but it sure is tempting… Perhaps some day when someone has actually reviewed them…
