thanks! I am really loving that "old lady" smell right now. I can't stop myself spraying myself with mitsouko at least once a day, even when I don't leave the house. And my boyfriend thinks it's sexy and elegant. I can't tell you how happy that made me because i am becoming perfume obsessed.

I think it's a more contrated combination of ingredients like synthetic civet, amber, musk ... older perfumes were a lot "dirtier," frankly. That's the "old lady" note people complain about and I love.

I haven't smelled the reformulation (having stocked up on the previous version). I'm hoping the lights haven't been dimmed significantly. I'm glad you enjoy the scent, and thanks for stopping by!

I've never written before but the Mitsouko piece inspired me. Mitsouko is an unmitigated masterpiece -- which I understand has recently been reformulated to omit the oakmoss, among other changes. (I heard l'Heure Bleue has also been neutered.) A very sad day for perfumery, if this is true. Nevertheless, the original formulation is gorgeous. I bought Theorema a while back (after reading Luca Turin's assessment of it) and found it a little too sweetly gourmand for my taste -- so now I'm anxious to try this intriguing hybrid. I love your blogs. Happy New Year to all.
