Avon Christian Lacroix Absynthe

The nice folks at Avon have done a nice thing and offered a drawing for three lucky winners to get a bottle of their new Avon Christian Lacroix Absynthe perfume.  Just drop a comment, and I’ll draw out three names, and those three people will win a full bottle.

Now, for the juice.  It has notes of absinthe extract, golden freesia, green anise, orchid, saffron, narcissus, wood, ebony musk, myrrh and amber.  It is just a little sweet on the open with the freesia, but that does quiet quickly, and it has a softness that that is very easy to wear and feminine. I wish it were a little more edgy and expected more from a Lacroix fragrance, but it is still a nice fragrance regardless.  $32 for a 50 ml bottle is an excellent price point.

So drop a comment if you’re like the chance to win a free bottle.

And a report on my hand-applied spray tan from Sinless Tanning in Denver.  Just do it.    This is as different as can be from any other self-tan you’ve ever had.  It is precise and accurate, not streaky, applied evenly, and you get a great tan that lasts for about ten days.  They pick the right color for you. I’m really fair, so we went with a light medium, which was pretty perfect, though I could go for a medium.  The color was not orange in the least, my hands weren’t orange or my feet.  And I’m so happy that I can now have the perfect tan and avoid the sun.

  • Cheryl says:

I just tried an Absynthe cocktail for the first time in January. If this fragrance is as intoxicating as that drink was, then there will be many stories to tell. 😉 I’m looking forward to trying it.

  • Michelle Owen says:

I haven’t smelled the scent yet, but I’m sure if it’s from Christian Lacroix, it must be absolutely divine!

  • Penney says:

Absolutely love this fragrance, reminds me of the woods on an early summer morning – please enter me in the drawing if you would and thank you!

  • Erica says:

I have been so excited to try this – can anyone who has smelled it comment: does it have a licorice-y note at all? I can imagine how this might be a bit like Lolita Lempicka? or am I way off? would love to be included in the drawing, and thanks for reviewing this!

  • Billy says:

I have been trying to find this perfume for my best friend and can’t find it anywhere! If I could possibly be entered into the draw that would be great.

  • Molly says:

Please enter me in the drawing too, if it’s not too late. I have lusted desperately after absinthe fragrances ever since discovering Douce Amere a few years back.

  • Heather B says:

I actually love my natural pallor, but 30 minutes out in direct sunlight without sunscreen will get me a little sunburn. So I have to get a mild/ starter tan and then wear plenty of sunscreen. I’m a country girl and actually lay out on my back deck au natural. But yeah anyway the Avon Absynthe sounds lovely and I’d loved to be entered in the draw.

  • Ninara Poll says:

I’ve seen bottles of Absynthe at the area flea markets (flea markets where I live have tons of Avon reps who set up their own spaces to hawk Avon merch) and I sniffed one recently. Not bad at all, especially for Avon 🙂 Please enter me in the drawing 🙂

  • Lee says:

    Enter me too!

  • Juan says:

Mmmm Avon, I’d like to be entered please! :0

  • Janet says:

Yes, yes, please, I’ve been dying to try this!

  • I’ve never shopped Avon, although samples have come my way with varying degrees of pleasure, and I am a sucker for absinthe, so yeah, please include me. Thanks so much!

  • ula says:

please include me in the draw, love anise!

  • Laura M says:

Oh, please enter me too! I like saffron and anise… love to try the whole mix. Thanks!
    Laura M

  • Mindy says:

Is it too late to throw my name in? Thanks.

  • erin says:

I’d love to be entered, too, please, if it’s not too late…

  • Tammy says:

I want to see pics of the spray-tan!!!

  • BBJ says:

Put me in for the drawing if you’re still counting people.

I think I may need a tanner this summer. I live in a town where it actually gets warm in summer now, and I have the whitest legs in the history of humanity.

  • dissed says:

It sounds pretty. I’m glad Avon is still around. Bet the bottle’s a beauty. Please count me in.

  • Joyce Fluharty says:

Please put me in for the LaCroix Absynthe drawing. I would just like to know what it actually smells like. No one seems to have any fragrance samples in my area.

  • morgan says:

Oh, I’ve been wanting to try this one! Please enter me into the drawing.

And yes, those self tan posts are deeply entertaining. Another paledyface here, but I learned to lay off the self tanners, already. On me, they always end up looking like a bad case of scabies in the end. Hope you found your HG!

  • snowcrocus says:

So how do you think this would layer with Fou d’Absinthe or your other absinthe favorites?

  • Paloma Blanca says:

Please put me in the drawing, the fragrance sounds lovely. Thanks.

  • LindaB says:

Please enter me in the drawing–I’m intrigued.

  • tmp00 says:

I’d love to see some pix of the tan..

  • Samantha says:

I’d love to be entered in the drawing…I’m curious about Absinthe fragrances, I can’t remember having smelled one that features that as a main component. Personally,I’ve been wearing a lot of Black March just lately…it suits my rainy day kind of mood.

  • I would love to try the absinthe. Have always heard about it, but never tryed. Enjoy all the perfume info very much. Total newbie, learning lots

  • gwyneth says:

I love the “off topic” posts! They have enabled me to find my HG foundation, some great nail polish, blush, moisturizers, etc. PerfumePosse is wonderful, and I visit daily for the interesting daily topic – perfume or otherwise. Thanks!!

I’m fascinated by the idea of Absinthe. Please include me in the draw. Thanks again. 🙂

  • Christine Lasky says:

My first comment on this blog and it’s to enter to win something…..I hope that doesn’t make me look grabby!

  • Dleep says:

I would love to be included in the drawing. I have never met a self tanner that worked well for me. Glad you found something.

  • Linda says:

I would also love to see the tan. The sun hates me, and I love the idea of having options.

Do please enter me in the draw… and thank you for offering!

  • Lara says:

Please enter me in the drawing! Jonesing for absinthe.

  • kathleen says:

I would love to be included in the draw, please, Patty.

    Let’s see the tan!

  • Musette says:

Would love to sample the Avon – wonder if it’ll give Drama Nuui a run for its money.

The tan sounds great – and way safer than baking in the sun. I’ve only done a non-sun tan of any kind once. Anyway, I was hosting a black-tie Groundhog Day part and was wearing a shot-gold gown. February is unkind to light-yellow-olive people – 10 minutes on a tanning bed glowed me up right nicely!

    xo>-)

  • Vidalicious says:

I love my Absinthe… I ordered a special bottle from France, and it’s delish! A flaming sugarcube on an absinthe spoon, dripping and swirling burnt sweetness into the emerald green liquid… Oh, I feel so WICKED when I indulge…
Wonder if the Avon could possibly induce THAT…?

  • Dana says:

Thanks for entering me! Avon products kept popping up on other blogs I read today, too. Sounds interesting.

  • KathyT says:

I’d love to try this one, so please enter me into the drawing.

The hand sprayed tan sounds interesting because I have had nothing but disaster from self-tanners!

    Thanks

  • sara says:

I am so pale the idea of a tan just blows my mind! You’ve made me curious about it though. Lacroix has always made me smile so I would like to enter the drawing, thanks!

  • mals86 says:

Please enter me in the drawing as well. I’d love to sniff this one.

And I’m another paleface needing to stock up on self-tanner. I usually wind up only doing my fishbelly-white legs, and in early summer, my upper arms, in order to even out the color with the parts of my arms exposed by short sleeves. Softball/baseball season has started, and I’ll be spending a lot of time sitting in the sun on bleachers for the next two months… maybe in sleeveless shirts this year.

Unfortunately, I don’t think anybody in my town does spray tan. I think there’s a spa in the closest small city that does it, though – maybe I’ll blow an afternoon and have it done.

  • Buttercup says:

Please enter me in the drawing.

I find it hard to find a sunless tanner that doesn’t smell plastic. Anyone know of a good one that doesn’t smell so bad?

  • Shelley says:

I think I’m going to embrace my inner Judy Davis and stick with Scarlett O’Hara pale.
    (…)
Resolve over. Off to get a fresh bottle of Jergen’s tanner. 😉 It does help my ego as the clothes start coming off for summer.

  • elizablue says:

I’d love to check out what Christian Lacroix and Avon do with absinthe–please count me in!

  • karin says:

Congrats on that tan, Patty! I’m fair as well, but tan pretty easily. I tend to avoid the sun, though, so could use a good tanning tip. I’ve never found a self-tanning product that I like, and it always seems like too much work for little benefit. I’ll have to check out this hand spraying thing – depends on the cost, I suppose.

Please enter me in the draw – thanks for the offer!

  • Francesca says:

Ohh, those notes sound intriguing. I’m in.

Wish me luck on my expedition to Christopher Brosius’s establishment. I’m a little Brooklyn-challenged.

  • JAntoinette says:

I had my first taste of absinthe last week (it was delicious, but I think not for everyone). I am curious to see how its unique flavor would translate into a perfume.

  • Ann C. says:

I’ve been lurking for quite a while–love the reviews! Please add my name to the drawing.

  • Alison says:

I’d like to try that scent too. Please add me to the drawing.

    Thanks

  • Patricia says:

I haven’t tried Absynthe by Avon, but I am very curious about it – the bottle is intriguing.

  • KT says:

I’d like to enter the drawing =)

  • Deanna says:

I’d love to give it a try! Count me in 🙂

  • pyramus says:

Absinthe extract, eh? I wonder what exactly that is. Wormwood oil? Actual distilled absinthe? Or just some IFF or Firmenich synthetic?

I think I know the answer to that, since absinthe fragrances have been popping up all over the place in the last few years–L’Artisan has one, obviously, but so do Nasomatto, Mark Buxton, and Grandiflorum. Still, this one sounds nice.

  • maitreyi1978 says:

I have Tumulte too, but it doesn’t work on me. I’ll be glad to try this though.

  • Alica says:

I wonder how is the scent, I have heard it’s very interesting beacuse of composition. Please enter me in the drawing.

  • Kim says:

I kind of liked the LaCroix Tumulte so if this is the same style this could be nice. How much do the absinthe and green anise predominate?

  • ChantillyLace says:

I would love to be entered in the draw! And I’m SURE your tan looks fab! Psst!(Lavanya is really laughing. How rude.Pick me for the draw.);)

  • Flora says:

How fun! Please enter me in the draw – never been a Lacroix fan but I love absinthe, as well as just about everything else in the list of notes, and this has to be better than old C’est La Vie, no? 😀

  • zeram1 says:

I would like to be in the draw as well. Can you sense any non-“natural” ingredients in it?

  • dea says:

I am intrigued about your tan. So, about how much did it cost? I wear sunless tanner on my face and neck year round (to even out my hyperpigmentation) but during the summer when i show more arms and legs… they don’t match my face. I used to go to the stand up tanning bed once a week (with two towels wrapped around my face and neck)… but really don’t want to anymore now that I’m pushing 40.

if it last 10 days.. i may be able to deal with the investment.

    cheers 🙂

  • Lavanya says:

Would love to be entered in the draw!

Also would love to see a pic of you with the tan..:)) (can you tell I love the off topic posts..lol)
