My pop is 87 and nothing on this earth gives him more pleasure than to buy me a little sumpin-sumpin. I let him buy me a pair of socks, if you can believe it, and he was just so thrilled, with that little smug smile that says 'see? that's MY daughter and I take care of her', bless his heart! And I'm in my 50s, honey. But guess what - you can be 87 yourself and you will always be Daddy's Girl. And that's the way it should be, even if he only wants to buy you a stick of gum. Don't make it be about your pride and ability to pay - it's about his pride in being able to still 'provide' for his daughter. Weird, but true.
