Vacation ran over!

Oops, sorry, my vacation time ran a bit over and left no time to put a post together.

To make up for it, I’ll give away to four commenters a sample of the new L’Artisan Nuit de Tuberose that just came out (and that I’m wearing and loving beyond belief).

You can just say hi in comments to be entered, or let us know what you think of the new L’Artisan if you’ve sniffed it already or if you think you’ll ike it based on notes.

  • loverdoll says:

sounds good would love to try it

  • Nancy C. says:

I’m on the fence about tuberose because the only reference I have is Fracas. So I’d love to get a sample to see if this is a tuberose I can love.

  • Klara says:

I would love to try it, I love tuberose! Please enter me in the draw, thank you!

  • morpyk says:

I would love to try it-please kindly enter me in the draw,I havent tried any tuberose scents just yet,but I do like a few Douchafours scents!!!
    thanks a lot

  • Cheryl says:

I’m interested in being in the draw as well. I haven’t smelled this. I like tuberose only on the odd occasion. Ok ~ Tuberose scares me a little. But this one sounds very intriguing…

  • helenviolette says:

Hi! Enter me if I am timely please!!!

  • Jodi B says:

    mmm, yummy.

  • zeram1 says:

Haven’t had the chance to try the new L’A. From what I’ve heard, it may be a winner. Please enter me in the drawing as well.

  • Susan says:

My Tuesday-workday-after-a-holiday ran over – but if its not too late could enter me in the drawing?

  • Olivia says:

No need to enter me in the draw (had a serendipitous opportunity to score a bottle early!)…. But I wanted to comment and say that I ADORE this fragrance! It was definitely love at first sniff. It’s lush & gorgeous; for some reason it reminds me of plush, dark pink velvet. Even with that descriptor, though, somehow I’ve been enjoying it a bit more when it’s very hot & sunny out; I think this is because of the pepper & mango opening, but it could also be because a sunny day might balance out the slight whisper of melancholy I detect in it every now and then (not sure where that’s coming from!).

Even with its odd mix of pepper, mango, and woods, it’s definitely a tuberose, if a bit quirky. It’s not at all like Fracas, which I liked but can’t wear (yet) because it became overly sweet & cloying on me. In NdT, the tuberose is less sweet, but is still very lush. I don’t smell it and think “super-floral,” and though I can detect the different notes in it, they do not stand in stark contrast with one another; they blend well with each other like a rich watercolor painting. I think NdT is complex, elegant, luxurious, and actually kind of sexy (though not really in a wild/animalic way). I think it works equally well during the day or in the evening, but this could be because I adore it so.

  • smy says:

If it’s not too late, please enter me in the draw! I’d love to try this!

  • Lilybug says:

I’m not sure what to make of the reviews of NdT. I’ve been thinking I’ll find it quite “meh” but at the same time part of me thinks it could be love. I guess there’s only one way to find out.

I hope you enjoyed your vacation!

  • Flora says:

PLEEZE enter me – have not tried but I know I will adore it, I am tuberose fan and definitely a L’Artisan fan! The listed notes sound like someone has made me a bespoke scent, White Floral Queen that I am! 😡

  • Nita says:

I would love to be entered- I have never tried any of their fragrances!

  • Elisa says:

I haven’t smelled it yet but love me some tuberose, please sign me up.

  • Krista says:

I hope I’m not too late. I’d love to try this. I’m on a bit of a tuberose journey this week: I’ve tried Fracas, Noix de Tuberose and Amoureuse so far.

  • AnnieA says:

Verring off track, my very first scrubber, after I discovered the term, was Passage d’Enfer. I agree: Hell’s antechamber probably does smell of those little pinetree car fresheners…

  • Claudia says:

I’d love to try a tuberose. Sign me up for the drawing.

  • dremybluz says:

have been dying to get my hands on this new scent. please enter me in the draw.

  • HemlockSillage says:

I’d love to try the Nuit de Tuberose. Haven’t found my tuberose HG yet, though Carnal Flower comes close. My *only* FB purchase so far this year has been Duchaufour’s Amaranthine, and I’d love to try his take on this flower. Be well.

  • Tamara says:

As Beyonce would say “Give it, give it, give it to mama!” So please do as she bids you in her song.:”>

  • Griffland says:

Please enter me. I just registerd my High School Senior son for a trip to Italy & Greece next June. My point..now I have to pay for it and I don’t get to buy anything for awhile, oh well.

  • Vincennes says:

Delurking for this one – I’m dying to try it and as far as I know there are no pushers nearby! Please enter me :d

I’ve been wanting to try this. . . please enter me in the drawing!

Oh yes please! Draw me! Or, er, enter me in the drawing.

  • Neens says:

I can’t wait to try Nuit de Tubereuse. Please enter me in the drawing.

  • NewMaven says:

Not a big fan of Tuberose, but this Nuit de Tubereuse is great! The girls at perfumeniche.com got a sample from L’Artisan and I was lucky enough to be there when it arrived so I got to try it. The scent lasts and lasts and stays very interesting. It’ll be for sale in Canada soon and I’m on the waiting list.

  • dleep says:

I love tuberose and would very much like to try this. Thanks.

    dleep

  • d3m0lici0n says:

Wow! I’d love to try this one, I heard so many good things.

  • Paige says:

Good morning! Would love to try this. Thank you! Now, I must finish my laundry with the rest of my vacation time:(

  • Bev says:

I’m liking tuberose more and more. I’d love to try this L’Artisan.
    Cheers!

  • you smell!!! says:

I tried this at Barneys the other day and it is true that is that good, I’d love to get a sample.
    Thanks!

  • Marte says:

I would love to try this, please enter me in the draw!

  • Olfacta says:

No need to include me in the drawing, I have a couple of samples coming. I’m really looking forward to this one, as it sounds challenging. I may just wear it to the gym.

    • Masha says:

I’m not sure I’d recommend that, it’s very pervasive, though not a sillage monster by any means. It’s just that if someone nearby doesn’t like it, they will have to cope with it in a big way….

  • Roberto says:

I’d love to try this new L’Artisan, I heard so many good things that I want to try it really bad…

  • Tamio says:

I would love to try the new L’Artisan.:):)

  • Denise says:

I’d like to try it! Hope you had a great vacation.

  • marko says:

Heck yeah I want to try it!!!! I’ve been searching for a tuberose that I can wear inconspicuously…..something that doesn’t draw SO much attention to it (Fracas & Carnal Flower I’m looking at you 2!!!!!), yet still smells like my favorite flower.

    Marko

  • Francesca says:

Yeah, I had a stealth teeny tiny early sample and I certainly wouldn’t mind having another one. ‘Cos that would be free, and I’m really saving up for a bottle of Le Temps d’une Fête.:x

  • Haunani says:

Good morning! Yes, please enter me. As NdT is from my favorite house and made by my favorite perfumer, I’m almost certain that I’ll love it!

  • mals86 says:

No need to hat me, I have a small decant that arrived last week (thank you, Melissa!) but that I have not tried on skin yet. Sniffed from the bottle, it’s fascinatingly weird. I love me some tuberose, but I think NdT is going to be a different beast entirely. There’s something in there that I can only call “dirt” – like the fresh, alive smell of potting soil. I’m looking forward to it, but I think I’ll need to test-drive it when I can concentrate. Things have been too crazy-busy over the last couple of weeks, and I’ve been wearing mostly familiar scents, for simplicity’s sake.

  • Carla says:

Looking forward to trying this one at Harald Lubner in Hamburg. In fact, being in Hamburg, not sure if foreign countries are included!

  • Janet says:

Please enter me in the draw. I am interested to see if this works any better on me than Havana Vanille which was flat and awful on my skin.

  • Erica Y says:

This sounds very interesting — I’m kind of scared of Tuberose but want to try!

  • Hernando says:

Hi! Would love a try! Enjoy your vacation!

  • Tiara says:

Hope your Memorial Day visit was as wonderful as those you remembered from years gone by.

Yes, please enter me in the drawing.

    Hope you’re enjoying yourself.

  • Dana says:

Haven’t tried this, but would love to. Thanks!

  • Style Spy says:

I’m dying to sniff this, please enter me. There’s a Tubey Revolution going on right now and I’m in heaven!

  • Fernando says:

    Oh, Temptress!
    The tuberosian nights
    Of artisan perfumers
    Promise delights!

Please enter me – I have yet to sniff a l’artisan and I’d love to try this one!

  • KathyT says:

I hope you had a good vacation! I’d love to be entered for the drawing. So far I am a big Duchaufour fan, so there is a good chance that I will like his newest.

    Thanks!

  • donanicola says:

Hope you had a good break Patty. I was in a total grump last week because L’AP UK were being v e r y vague about when NdT was arriving on these shores. I’d fallen in love on first sniff of a tester bottle in Paris in April and was itching to get my hands on a bottle of my own and everywhere else but the UK seemed to have it dammit! Anyway, am all smiles again since it’s here and I’ve reserved a bottle to be collected at the weekend so no need to enter me in the draw but I just wanted to record a big thumbs up for it:)

  • gator grad says:

Tuberose doesn’t normally work on me (except for some mainstreams, like Beyond Paradise and Michael Kors– those are tuberose-y, right?) but this sounds like it might FINALLY be the one that would. I want it to work. Really!

    Please enter me!

  • ScentRed says:

Please add me. I spritzed last Saturday and was very intrigued/infatuated. Would love a sample to assess whether it is FB Love 😉

At the risk of being redundant, here are my blatherings on it, cut and paste from yesterday’s post:

“It was not at all what I expected. I was thinking big honking tuberose layered with tuberose and a bit more tuberose. It was much more complex than that, with many players doing their part to create an intriguing overall effect. It’s unusual, but not crazy weird. And yet it is somehow simple and subtle at the same time. I do remember someone (probably here) describing it as “approachable” or “amiable”, and I think that’s true – but not in a boring way.

I also was suprised at how green it was on me, despite the presence of the florals. I had read that mango was in the opening notes and was expecting something tropical and sweet – but found none of that. I’m thinking that perhaps green mango is a very different scent than what I imagine mango to be.”

    Thanks!

  • Marsi says:

I am so dying to try this. Choose me!

  • Abyss says:

I have trouble imagining this one from the reviews so I’d love to try it!

  • Jen says:

I am trying to see if anyone in town has this in stock to try. L’Artisan is usually great on me. I am not even a floral person, but this one seems to have enough notes in it to great a nice balance.

Please enter me in the drawing..

  • kathleen says:

Oh, yes, please include me in the drawing. I love all things tuberose.

  • sybil says:

I want to try it, please! If it’s L’Artisan, it should be interesting, and I would love to find a tuberose that works for me.

  • Todd says:

:)>- I would love to try it. I hear its incredible.

Keep up the good work Patty!

  • karin says:

Haven’t tried it – would love to! Thanks, Patty!

  • Suzy Q says:

Thanks for the giveaway opportunity. Count me in.

  • Connie says:

I hope you enjoyed your vacation, Patty. I would love to be entered, thanks!

  • Daniele says:

I have no idea if I’d like this because the truth is, I’m not even entirely sure that I know what tuberose smells like. I don’t think I even have a tuberose scent in my collection, and I’ve certainly never smelled one in real life. 🙁 Sad. I think I may be missing out. This must be rectified!

  • Elizabeth says:

I really like tuberose…I sniffed L’Artisan’s Tuberose scent last week at Bleumarine and fell in love with it. I know that the Nuit de Tuberose is supposed to be quite different, and I would love to smell that. Please enter me in the draw–thanks!

  • Kate says:

Haven’t tried this yet, and would love to!

  • JAntoinette says:

I hope your vacation was joyous! I heart tuberose in all forms and I’m always interested in sniffing a new interpretation. Please enter me as well.

  • CynthiaL says:

I’m interested to smell—love tuberose, usually.

  • lamombo says:

    hi !:x

  • Masha says:

I’ve really tried to love NdT, but after a dozen attempts, I’m afraid I do not care for it at all. It’s interesting, but turns quite bitter and amplifies on my skin in the drydown in an unpleasant way. I love bitter in naturals like jasmine and galbanum, but this particular bitter, whatever aromachemicals create it, I find depressing. I know I “mis-smell” certain synthetics, like okoumal, safraleine and toscanol, they smell like diesel fuel to me, so perhaps I’m just not “getting” NdT the way I’m supposed to. Ah well. I think I’ll just grow some real tuberose and smell that!

    • Masha says:

Oh, you don’t have to put me in the drawing, obviously!

      • Winifreida says:

hey masha, I get engine oil from those Escentric Molecule numbers, apparently its the iso e super, and I think its why some lines that use it as a big component of the base don’t work for me…its probably a petrochemical derivative, so maybe its everybody else who is mis-smelling[-(

        • Masha says:

I’m so glad to hear I’m not the only one, Winifreida! And you know what’s weird, the more I get into naturals/organics, the more…obnoxious, for lack of a better word, some of these very popular aromachemicals become to me. So many perfumes are basically an overdose of Iso E Super with a few extras thrown in- they are quite brain-piercing to me! And the synthetic citruses are extremely painful. I do like some synthetic components, but my list of bearable or enjoyable ones keeps shrinking….

  • Alica says:

I think I would like it since tuberose is my favorite note. Thank you for entering me!

  • Annelie says:

I´m still looking for somwthing that can be equal to Carnal Flower on me, maybe this is? Please enter me in the draw. Thank you. 🙂

Vacations were meant to be extended. Hope it was worth it.
Would love to find the right tuberose. Carnal Flower is close, but sometimes it seems shampooey.

  • Madea says:

I’d love to try it. I used to think I hated tuberose, but I’ve been branching out, and recently found one I like. Two would be nice…:d

  • Robin R. says:

Rude of me not to ask how your holidays were. How were your holidays, Patty? :”>

  • Robin R. says:

    Want, want, WANT.
