No need to enter me in the draw (had a serendipitous opportunity to score a bottle early!)…. But I wanted to comment and say that I ADORE this fragrance! It was definitely love at first sniff. It’s lush & gorgeous; for some reason it reminds me of plush, dark pink velvet. Even with that descriptor, though, somehow I’ve been enjoying it a bit more when it’s very hot & sunny out; I think this is because of the pepper & mango opening, but it could also be because a sunny day might balance out the slight whisper of melancholy I detect in it every now and then (not sure where that’s coming from!).
Even with its odd mix of pepper, mango, and woods, it’s definitely a tuberose, if a bit quirky. It’s not at all like Fracas, which I liked but can’t wear (yet) because it became overly sweet & cloying on me. In NdT, the tuberose is less sweet, but is still very lush. I don’t smell it and think “super-floral,” and though I can detect the different notes in it, they do not stand in stark contrast with one another; they blend well with each other like a rich watercolor painting. I think NdT is complex, elegant, luxurious, and actually kind of sexy (though not really in a wild/animalic way). I think it works equally well during the day or in the evening, but this could be because I adore it so.

I’m not sure what to make of the reviews of NdT. I’ve been thinking I’ll find it quite “meh” but at the same time part of me thinks it could be love. I guess there’s only one way to find out.

Not a big fan of Tuberose, but this Nuit de Tubereuse is great! The girls at perfumeniche.com got a sample from L’Artisan and I was lucky enough to be there when it arrived so I got to try it. The scent lasts and lasts and stays very interesting. It’ll be for sale in Canada soon and I’m on the waiting list.

I’m not sure I’d recommend that, it’s very pervasive, though not a sillage monster by any means. It’s just that if someone nearby doesn’t like it, they will have to cope with it in a big way….

Good morning! Yes, please enter me. As NdT is from my favorite house and made by my favorite perfumer, I’m almost certain that I’ll love it!
No need to hat me, I have a small decant that arrived last week (thank you, Melissa!) but that I have not tried on skin yet. Sniffed from the bottle, it’s fascinatingly weird. I love me some tuberose, but I think NdT is going to be a different beast entirely. There’s something in there that I can only call “dirt” – like the fresh, alive smell of potting soil. I’m looking forward to it, but I think I’ll need to test-drive it when I can concentrate. Things have been too crazy-busy over the last couple of weeks, and I’ve been wearing mostly familiar scents, for simplicity’s sake.
Looking forward to trying this one at Harald Lubner in Hamburg. In fact, being in Hamburg, not sure if foreign countries are included!

Hope you had a good break Patty. I was in a total grump last week because L’AP UK were being v e r y vague about when NdT was arriving on these shores. I’d fallen in love on first sniff of a tester bottle in Paris in April and was itching to get my hands on a bottle of my own and everywhere else but the UK seemed to have it dammit! Anyway, am all smiles again since it’s here and I’ve reserved a bottle to be collected at the weekend so no need to enter me in the draw but I just wanted to record a big thumbs up for it:)
Tuberose doesn’t normally work on me (except for some mainstreams, like Beyond Paradise and Michael Kors– those are tuberose-y, right?) but this sounds like it might FINALLY be the one that would. I want it to work. Really!

At the risk of being redundant, here are my blatherings on it, cut and paste from yesterday’s post:
“It was not at all what I expected. I was thinking big honking tuberose layered with tuberose and a bit more tuberose. It was much more complex than that, with many players doing their part to create an intriguing overall effect. It’s unusual, but not crazy weird. And yet it is somehow simple and subtle at the same time. I do remember someone (probably here) describing it as “approachable†or “amiableâ€, and I think that’s true – but not in a boring way.
I also was suprised at how green it was on me, despite the presence of the florals. I had read that mango was in the opening notes and was expecting something tropical and sweet – but found none of that. I’m thinking that perhaps green mango is a very different scent than what I imagine mango to be.”

I have no idea if I’d like this because the truth is, I’m not even entirely sure that I know what tuberose smells like. I don’t think I even have a tuberose scent in my collection, and I’ve certainly never smelled one in real life. 🙁 Sad. I think I may be missing out. This must be rectified!
I really like tuberose…I sniffed L’Artisan’s Tuberose scent last week at Bleumarine and fell in love with it. I know that the Nuit de Tuberose is supposed to be quite different, and I would love to smell that. Please enter me in the draw–thanks!

I’ve really tried to love NdT, but after a dozen attempts, I’m afraid I do not care for it at all. It’s interesting, but turns quite bitter and amplifies on my skin in the drydown in an unpleasant way. I love bitter in naturals like jasmine and galbanum, but this particular bitter, whatever aromachemicals create it, I find depressing. I know I “mis-smell” certain synthetics, like okoumal, safraleine and toscanol, they smell like diesel fuel to me, so perhaps I’m just not “getting” NdT the way I’m supposed to. Ah well. I think I’ll just grow some real tuberose and smell that!

hey masha, I get engine oil from those Escentric Molecule numbers, apparently its the iso e super, and I think its why some lines that use it as a big component of the base don’t work for me…its probably a petrochemical derivative, so maybe its everybody else who is mis-smelling[-(
I’m so glad to hear I’m not the only one, Winifreida! And you know what’s weird, the more I get into naturals/organics, the more…obnoxious, for lack of a better word, some of these very popular aromachemicals become to me. So many perfumes are basically an overdose of Iso E Super with a few extras thrown in- they are quite brain-piercing to me! And the synthetic citruses are extremely painful. I do like some synthetic components, but my list of bearable or enjoyable ones keeps shrinking….
I think I would like it since tuberose is my favorite note. Thank you for entering me!
