Mona di Orio

The Perfume Posse family joins the rest of the perfume world in mourning.  The untimely death of visionary perfumer Mona di Orio is a deeply saddening event.  Our deepest condolences to her family, her friends, her team and the many, many perfume lovers whose lives she touched with her vision and passion.

Taken away so young. Condolences to her family and friends.

  • Barbara says:

“Lush and unafraid” is a beautiful way to describe her perfumes, Olfacta. I would also add, passionate and emotional. Whether the delicate Amyitis or the decadent Nuit Noire, her perfumes told romantic stories. I’m happy I got to know the fragrances, if not the woman. Condolences to her colleagues and loved ones.

  • Olfacta says:

I never met her, but have several decants of her perfumes. They are lush and unafraid, as opposite from the timid vitamin waters disguised as perfumes that are turning up now, post-regulation. I think she must have been brave. I’ve heard that she was unafraid to speak her mind, which certainly doesn’t surprise me. It can’t have been easy. Rest in peace.

  • Joanna says:

Reposez en paix. :( Wearing my much loved sample of Chamarre
    in honor.

  • Lala says:

What a lovely photograph of an extraordinary woman. She was just coming into her own, which makes her death even more tragic, if that’s even possible.

  • Ann says:

So very sorry to hear this. She was immensely talented and the perfume world will not be the same. Thoughts and prayers going out to her family, friends and co-workers.

  • Joe says:

    So incredibly sad.

  • Occhineri says:

I was told that she had been in the hospital for a couple days and died during a surgery. So sad.

  • hotlanta linda says:

Are we ever going to know WHY????

  • HemlockSillage says:

This is beyond sad. Her talent was immense, and her fragrances will delight people for years to come. I’m so very sorry to hear that she is gone. It’s such a shock, and a terrible loss. My prayers are with her family, friends and coworkers.

  • Masha says:

Deeply sad here. Wearing her glorious “Oud” today. I felt she had so many more beautiful perfumes to share with us, now the angels get them….
