I think Andy Tauer is a genius. Even if a scent of his doesn’t work on me I can appreciate the artistry involved.
Ultimately, Noontide Petals didn’t work on me. Like his Miriam, I can appreciate it and likely would like it on others. I just personally don’t rock Aldehydes- whether from Chanel or Le Labo. I do find it an interesting scent- on me the opening is somewhat darker that the Chanel and certainly the Le Labo, with the magic “tauerade” notes front-loaded with the sparkly aldehydes. Where the Le Labo (sadly being discontinued) starts out happy and gets progressively darker Noontide Petals does the opposite on me. I think it starts out dark but gets lighter and sparklier as the frankincense, bergamot and vanilla add in the styrax and bright vetiver. The white flowers add to the retro-glam aspect of this- while it is unisex I think it leans far more towards the feminine. I’ll bet is smells fabulous on my Scent Twin.
Notes from Luckyscent website: Bergamot, aldehydes, geranium, Rose, ylang, tuberose, jasmine, Patchouli, frankincense, vanilla, sandalwood, iris, styrax, vetiver. Lasting power is excellent- I sprayed at around noon-ish and woke up to it the next morning. I really like this one, but like a slash of Jungle Red lipstick, I don’t see myself wearing it. A least not out to a meeting..

I tried this on Tuesday and loved it – such a bright beautiful aldehydic floral opening, then that lovely lightly incensey drydown. On my to buy list.
The only note that scares me is tuberose but I’m gonna give this a go any way because I do like Any Tauer’s perfumes even though some of them don’t like me. I adore aldehydes in perfume.
Hi, Tom! I have to agree 100 percent with you about Andy’s scents. Many of them do not seem to like me, but the ones that do are so wonderful. This one sounds most interesting — can’t wait to try it!
The more I read about this one, the more convinced I am that I need to sample it. Miriam made me cry.
I am always most inspired to sample a fragrance when I read about someone having a strong reaction to it. I am in awe of any fragrance that has the ability to make someone cry. What was it about Miriam that touched you, if you don’t mind my asking? I think the closest I ever came to crying was SL Iris Silver Mist. Some day I’ll shed some tears!
I am excited to try this one, though I ave to sheepisly admit that I still have a hard tme picking out Tauerade- even after avng tred L’Aiir du Desert Marocain, Incense Rose, Rose Chypree, and Rose Vermeille. Oh well, maybe one more will do it. 🙂
