Amouage Fate is releasing for both men and women in June 2013 or a least summer, but I think pretty soon, and it is the finale of the first cycle of the Amouage narrative.
Amouage Fate Woman is an oriental chypre with notes of frankincense, oakmoss, leather, bergamot, cinnamon, chili, pepper rose, narcissus, jasmine, labdanum, vanilla, frankincense, benzoin, castoreum and patchouli. This one has me mystified in the best possible way. Huffing chili and cinnamon on the open, you think it’s going one thing, but quickly the incense and rose bow up and — oh, well, this is something else! We aren’t done yet. Narcissus and vanilla chime in, adding a weird softness to the spices and incense. What is this? This is something completely different. The same way I found Interlude and Beloved happily morphing enigmas that captivated me, Amouage Fate does the same – constantly intrigues me, and just when I tire of it a little, it changes into something new. I’m pretty sure I could take Fate, Interlude and Beloved on the fabled rocket ship off the earth and think I had a wardrobe of 40 scents. I could go through changes, but why? You need to just experience it because likely it will change differently on everyone else
Amouage Fate Man is a spicy woods fragrance with notes of citrus, absinth, ginger, rose, frankincense, cedarwood, sandalwood, musk, liquorice, tonka bean, mandarin, saffron, cumin, everlasting flower, lavandin, cistus, copahu and labdanum. Ohmy, there is a lovely little cumin kick on the open. Created by Karine Vinchon-Spehner, it is a cacophony of smells on the open, nothing winning, nothing losing, each wanting heard for a moment. And unfortunately, a material/note used in most of the men’s fragrances rears up and wipes it all out in alcohol smell – anyone have a guess on what that is? I never get it in the women’s fragrances, but I do I more than half of the men’s. Which so sucks for me and makes me so mad at my nose for being like that because this one was totally doing it for me. Mark has a more coherent review since he can smell the whole thing, and I get even madder after reading his review of it because all I could smell and what he said says this thing is gorgeous.
I’ve become a big fan of the direction Amouage is going in and has been going in under the direction of Christopher Chong, and Amouage Fate is another great perfume that complete fits this line and the emerging complexity. What leaves me all twitterpated is what the explanation of Fate means? If this is the finale in the first cycle, what comes next?! Whatever is next will be interesting. In today’s perfume world full of the vapid and boring, that speaks volumes, and this is one of the few perfume lines that I can’t bring myself to complain too loudly about the price.

I just recently heard of Amouage. I was searching for fine perfumes and came across Amouage. I absolutely would love to try this one. The bottle is so beautiful!!
I tried Amouage Lyric woman but such a tiny sample, I just could not tell. I hear somuch about this house. I’ve steered clear because of the price. But wouldn’t I love to try Fate. (smile)

Still really love Gold and fell very hard for Beloved but will need a lottery win for a bottle! Look forward to trying the new one
I would love to try to get to know Amouage’s Fate. My signature scent is Jubilation 25. I just tried Beloved and didn’t understand her at first. But she revealed herself to me slowly… at the same pace I needed to comprehend what she was expressing. I had the same experience with Patou’s 1,000. I’d love a chance to test Fate!
A lovely scent friend gave me samples of Memoir Woman and Interlude but I think my favorite (and in my current Top 5 of All Time) has to be Lyric Woman. A massive symphonic cloud of wonder! They are some of the most fascinating scents I’ve tried. Thanks for the chance!
they both sound interesting but this picture… ughhh. Bad doesn’t begin to describe it. And the bottles are much nicer in real life, which is a rare thing
Patty, the blog Kafkaesque has a post about Iso E Super, which may be the answer to the mysterious alcohol note. I haven’t smelled Fate, but had the same thing happen with Dior’s Oud Ispahan. (Thank you, by the way!) DNEM, since I won something just recently.
My favourite so far has been Epic for women, but I hope to grow into some of the others:)

I have a decant of Jubilation XXV which I love but wear very sparingly. There’s a golden musk in there, similar to Duro (Nasomatto) which can be a little overwhelming and persistent (24+ hours). Duro+ Tauer Incense Extreme= goodness and something similar to XXV without the ‘spicy stewed fruits’ bit.
I keep meaning to try the Library series, which is just incredible, and the Interludes also. I do like the direction they’re headed, in theory, but have not tried anything new for years because am broke and do not want a hopeless love.
Please count me in, I especially like trying the men’s scent also!
Not sure what’s next but I would love a saffron/cream/other spices/ white lily/myrrh/vanilla/frankincense kind of symphonic scent…

Well, I’ve never had the pleasure of trying an Amouage…I keep thinking that I want to, and I keep putting them on and then taking them off of my want lists because of **PRICE**! I would love to be entered into the draw though, and therefore, entered into this fantasy world! What a stunning, opal-looking bottle! Thank you!
I have tried many of the Amouages, women’s versions. Ubar is my favorite. Beloved is very interesting because, unlike many of the others, it is not linear. So far I’ve yet to find one that is FBW and it’s kind of a relief, lol, at least to my pocketbook!
Perhaps Amouage will leave narrative behind (Epic, Memoir, Beloved) and head straight into poetry (Lyric has been done, but Sonnet, Villanelle, Sestina, Cento) and from there into pure scent/language. My faves so far have been Opus VI, Memoir Woman and Jubilation XXV for Men.
Everyone in my house loves Amouage Interlude Man. The birds, the dog and the Man are all crazy for it and I am too (I’m not sure about the fish). I think the reason for this universal appeal is that Amouage Interlude Man is complex enough to connect with any gender or species. My past favorites by Amouage are Ubar and Lyric Man. The newer scents like Interlude seem to be moving away from the classical and becoming more and more bold and complicated. I see Amouage continuing in this direction of bold complexity. Amouage is my favorite perfume house, my faves would have to be Jubilation & interlude male. It would be interesting. For them to come out with a line based on fairy tales or on Middle East counties, just a thought……
Boy do I love amouage. Absolutely my favorite house. I own a few but due to their price points not as many as I would like. You know this is a house in which I would, and have a couple of times, bought blind and never regretted it? Pretty amazing considering the expense. I would love it if amouage would turn some of their attars into perfumes. I love homage and wished they would turn that into an edp. Due to a lack of funds I have yet to try their latest offerings. I am not very familiar with the Amouage line but would like to change that. My favorite from Amouage so far and among my top 5 is Homage Attar. An oriental-chypre, how intriguing is that!
I enjoy the depth, richness and complexity of all of the Amouage scents I’ve tried, even when I don’t find a particular one to be extremely wearable. I loved Interlude Woman, have a bottle of Memoire Woman, and hope that no matter the direction, the quality stays extraordinary. I wouldn’t mind a little less expense, though. 🙂
Have a bottle Epic Woman that I love…am interested in several other Amouage scents…but alas the price point is so high. Would love to see smaller bottles at smaller prices. AND would love to try the new scent! I always look forward to the new Amouage scents. Thanks for the opportunity.

I like Lyric very much, but some others have left me cold. This new one sounds interesting though.
I love the Amouage scents, and own FB of Memoir W and Epic W- and I’m thinking of Interlude Woman.
And wouldn’t Epic, Memoir, Interlude and Fate look real nice lined up next to each other on my dresser? 🙂
I would love to try these new Amouage fragrances. I have tried Interlude, and found it very complex and long lasting…I actually liked the man’s better than the woman’s. I would like to see this line, or any line, come out with a light scent that lasts as long as these heavy hitters do.
I’d love to try these. They both sound interesting. I haven’t tried much from Amouage, just Jubilation 25 and a new sample of Memoir Woman, courtesy of a very generous perfume fairy. The cost is justified, just too steep for the likes o’ me.
Gotta say I dislike the name Fate, as I find it kind of depressing. But the bottles are gorgeous. They remind me of the art nouveau glasswork at Musée d’Orsay. I love Amouage. Heck they are expensive, but at least they are truly good, sometimes even better than my dear departed fumes. And I agree, it is pretty amazing how they can change over time. I own a FB of Dia Man, and it is such a chamaleon of a fragrance!

I am a huge HUGE fan of Amouage. My scent splurge of the year was a bottle of Epic while I was on vacation. I adore it, and every time I wear it, I remember that Epic vacation. Truly a unique and heady scent. I try to wear it whenever I am having another special event.
I would LOVE to try Fate after reading your glowing review. So far there hasn’t been an Amouage I’d turn my nose up at!
My great Amouage loves are the Library collection– Opus II especially. I love the incense in the Amouage perfumes, they reall do seem to have a signature t them, like the Caron mousse de saxe and Guerlainade, Thank you for offering the draw, I would love to try Fate– the perfume, that is!

Those lists of notes are so extensive. It’s like they decide to throw in everything but the kitchen sink. I’d be interested in sniffing them. I haven’t sniffed the last f ew releases from Amouage. Fate Woman sounds nice and complex. Maybe Amouage will do a series inspired by geographical regions next. That’s just a guess! Thanks for entering me in the drawing.

I have yet to try a Amouage that was not at least interesting if not absolutely wonderful. The Memoirs are my current favorites but if I had the money I would own the whole line. Powerball here I come!
Ubar is still my favorite, but like both Memoirs too. I love that they’re taking their time because it seems each release is thoughtful and well put together. As if they care about the product, not just the cash that will flow into their coffers.

I have only smelled Amouage fragrances in passing, but I remember being kind of dumbstruck by both Epics, both Lyrics, and Ubar. Then I got another whiff of Ubar and it was completely different from my recollection. Ah, to take home a small amount and be able to get to know it fully. Thank you for the giveaway!
I have only sampled a few, but the high quality and complexity are what stands out. I could smell Interlude Woman forever. I feel like this line is intellectually out of my range, or maybe that’s just the reviews I’ve read.Anyway, I’m dying to try Fate. Aren’t those bottles gorgeous!

Oh, I was doomed when you compared it to Beloved. I agree that its a desert island scent (a bit of a cheat, since it’s like 4 fragrances in one, but I love it). My husband thinks that it smells dated, but I think it smells REGAL. REGAL! Lovely stuff. It’s by far my favorite Amouage and the only fragrance in that price range that I’ve ever even thought about purchasing. Lovely stuff.

Fate Woman is beautiful, very much like its sister Beloved, one of my personal top five perfumes ever. Jubilation 25 and Lyric are right up there, too!

I appreciate the entire production of Amouage, but I really fall in love only with Memoire and Interlude Man.
For the future I do not know what to expect, but I know I would love less new product releases; the growing bulimia in perfumery industry is worrying.
Some people like one or hate another Amouage perfume.Loved or hated every new release is waited impassionately and everyone is talking about it.I guess mr.Chong is done his job.looking back the past releases I think they are just gorgeus in every aspect.This is true art and luxury.Surely I’m impassionate to try the new Fate duo (and Opus VII).
I have no idea what Amouage will do next but I really like the direction they’ve been going with the last few. Even when they don’t quite work for me I can appreciate the complexity. I’m looking forward to trying both of these.
Sadly, I have yet to try any post-Memoir Amouages. So I’m not sure what the future might hold. I do agree with you about Christopher Chong’s direction with the house. My favorites have been Epic Man and Tribute, both of which I own, along with Memoir Man.

I like how the house of Amouage is pacing itself with how many perfumes it releases in a year. Interlude came out what, a year and a half ago? Many perfume companies seem to love pushing out 5 or 6 in a single year. Interlude Woman had me do a double take because it smelled like some of the things that Serge Lutens has done. Tomorrow, I’m giving Beloved Woman a try. I do hope that Amouage stays true to it’s roots (Gold, Epic, Ubar, Lyric). Only because, while I admire many of Serge Lutens perfumes, only some work on me but a lot of his scents smell the same.

I desperatly need your help. I’ve fallen in love with the scent of L’Occitanes almond shower and body oils, neither of which linger. It’s crack, and I NEED in my life on a permanent basis. Was wondering if youd smelled these oils, and if you knew of a perfume that smelled similar? Thanks!
While I am new to the perfume world and haven’t tried any Amouage yet, I am happy that I am not the only one whose guilty summer pleasure is BB! I would love to be sitting on my couch, watching Big Brother trying this intriguing scent. Thanks for the draw!!
I agree, they both sound amazing. Every one of the Amouage fragrances I’ve tried I have loved – Lyric, Memoire, Interlude and Jubilation XXV. I haven’t tried Beloved yet, but it’s on my list and now adding Fate.
I haven’t really found the perfect Amouage for me. All I’ve tried are Gold, Reflection, and Beloved, and none of them was perfect for me yet. Maybe it will be Fate. LOL
