Merry Christmas – Tauer and Beauty Encounter winners

Merry Christmas!

First, couple of prize drawings to announce.

Tauer Advent drawing winners – zeram1

Beauty Encounter e-card winner – poodle

Both of you should e-mail me by clicking on the Drop Us a Note at the top of the blog or email patty at perfumepossedawtcom and give me your details like address, remind me which one you won, and I’ll send it on to Andy and Beauty Encounter so you can get your goodies. Enjoy!!

I’m all snuggled in with my three Christmas pies – Apple Caramel, Chocolate Campari Cherry and Mulled Blueberry – my Christmas tree that looks like it could land planes at La Guardia, much present wrapping ahead of me, two geese to bake, and lots of knitting to do, but none of it for Christmas presents (those are already put to bed and ready for wrapping).

Every Christmas I just like to tell you how much I have enjoyed the last year I’ve spent with you all.  My favorite thing this year has been the Perfume Fairy Godmother monthly post – the way you help each other out, share your treasures and knowledge. It warms my heart.

For some knitting Christmas porn, this is the Fair Isle Olympic cowl I posted a picture of that I said I would do, and I’m about between 1/3 to 1/2 of the way through it.  I loooooooove this project so much. It’s not that hard, it just takes time because it’s a new pattern every row.

Do you not love it?  I can’t wait to finish it and wear it. I may just keep making these year-round and gifting them!  Well, probably not, I get tired of doing the same thing more than 1.5 times. Midway through the second, I’m so over it, it needs a new word for “over it.”

All my wishes for a Merry Christmas, and thank you for spending your time with us this past year.  Of course there’s a drawing!!  Three samples of that new exclusive to New York Kilian Apple Brandy thingie, which has me sniffing merrily as well.  If you’re celebrating Christmas, are you wearing a perfume?  My normal is Caron Nuit de Noel parfum, but I may have to do this Apple Brandy thing or that Le Labo Moscow Benjoin thingie. Oh, hey, I could combine the two. Yum!

  • Tena says:

I have done Chanel No 5 EDT and Shalimar Initial L’eau for Christmas and Boxing Day. It was hubby and I and the greyhounds, and all of us agreed that Christmas smelled wonderful. Hope your days were fantastic

  • Elena says:

Couldn’t find my Nuit de Noel sample (and now am questioning whether I even own one… I thought I did?) so I wore Parfum Sacre which worked beautifully. Now I am in the post Christmas doldrums. My house is empty of my beloved brother and SIL and their two awesome dogs, and my husband is back at work already. Such a sudden downshift after the joy and chaos of yesterday with everyone here.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

  • Lynne Marie says:

Merry Christmas to all! I hope everyone’s day was exactly what you wanted it to be! I’m wearing Nuit de Noel and doing an Ally McBeal DVD marathon, waiting for my dear one to get home from work ( law enforcement, always works the holidays!) Today was lovely and peaceful and I even took a 5 mile walk in 10 degree weather – made the hot bath later all the more special. Best wishes for a fabulous 2014 for all!

  • Love the Fair Isle knitting project–it is gorgeous. Wearing Nuit de Noel today. Best wishes for a lovely Christmas and New Year, Patty! XO

  • Ann says:

Lovely pic, Patty! I am wearing Amouage Lyric for Women with abandon, thanks to a perfume pal. Wishing you and yours a happy and blessed holiday!

  • Mary K says:

Your knitting is beautiful! Thank you for sharing the picture with us. Not sure what perfume I will wear for Christmas; probably Five O’clock Au Gingembre or Le Speculoos.

  • Barbara says:

Yearly personal tradition — Nuit de Noel parfum!!

    Chocolate Campari Cherry Pie WOW!

  • Cristine says:

Merry Christmas Posse Authors! Thank you for making perfume even more fun. Tonight I think I’ll wear Tonka Imperial and tomorrow…. maybe SMN Vaniglia. Or Tobacco Vanille. Or Tea For Two. Oh, the delimmas of a perfum-a-holic! Have a wonderful holiday everyone in perfume-land! –Cristine

  • FearsMice says:

Can’t smell or taste a thing because of a bad cold, so I probably won’t wear perfume either — but just the names of those pies are enough to make my mouth water!

Peace , joy, and thanks to all of the Posse community — enjoy the holidays!

  • tammy says:

I started off the day with Jub 25, resting on the Poivre I wore to bed last night. I smell GOOD! Tonight will of course be Nuit de Noel, and tomorrow a few precious drops of Vœu de Noël.

Merry Christmas to all my Posse peeps. I hope there is much comfort and joy for everyone, and lovely scents all around you. May we all make magical memories tonight and tomorrow!

  • AnnieA says:

Happy holidays, everyone! Might wear Malle Eau d’Hiver as it is a non sweet marzipan. @Liz maybe start with a very small crochet project such a an ornament or small stuffed toy…

  • Martha says:

Merry Christmas, Perfume Posse! Love the knitting porn, too. I may wear my newest acquisition, vintage Tabu parfum, but then again, I may wear my fave, MdO Vanille. On the other hand, there’s PdN Vanille Tonka … Clearly, I have a dilemma!

  • Irina says:

I don’t celebrate Christmas but I’m happy most of my friends do
    Benjoin, mmmmm
    merry Christmas to you, all

  • Nemo says:

As usual, I am most impressed by your knitting skills 🙂 I didn’t even know people could knit such patterns by hand! I just used up the last of my sample of Kenzo Jungle l’elephant, so I will probably be wearing Seattle chocolate by Olympic Orchids for the next few days 🙂

  • karin says:

That cowl is GORGEOUS!!!!!! Makes me want to take up knitting!!! Not sure what scent I’ll wear for Christmas yet. We’ll see what mood I’m in tomorrow. Attrape Coeur may be the winner. 🙂

  • Musette says:

Tomorrow’s post is just a quick Holiday Wish to all of you, so I’m hopping in Patty’s post here, like a virtual blogjacker , to tell you all how much I love you guys! Your comments are as much of what makes the Posse as our posts.

Happy Holidays to all of you!

  • Mrs. Honey says:

I tend to like the Serge Lutens pine needle scent for Christmas because the church will be full of pine branches. This year, though, I think I may wear Incense Rose. It is almost straight up church incense on me. My old church always had incense on holidays but the current church does not. I miss it, so I may just wear the incense.

  • dremybluz says:

Merry Xmas Patty. You are one of the most talented and generous people around. Thanks for all the years of hard work you and the others have put into the blog. Purfume Possee is still #1 of all my perfume blogs. Not sure what I’ll be wearing, but my 3 choices will be Luten’s MKK, Traversee du Bosphore, Marc Jacob’s new Honey or a combination of several of them.

  • Solanace says:

Your pies sound delicious. I love Campari, it was the drink of choice of my perfumista aunt, who would dab me with Joy extrait on Chistmas Eves when I was a child. Later, she would bring and let me try her latest aquisition. Every time I wear Rumba, I remeber the buzz in the kitchen on a Chistmas circa 1990. Today, I’ll be wearing Shalimar Ode a la Vanille. Merry Chistimas Patty, and thank you for gathering this amazing community. You are such a witty, generous, fun and great smelling bunch of people!

  • Portia says:

    Merry Christmas Patty.
Nuit de Noel EdC for Christmas Day.
Christmas Eve and I’m sporting Fleur du Male. MMMMMMM
    Portia xx

  • poodle says:

Woooo hooooo!!! I won! I can probably guarantee that that will be the best part of this Christmas.
I love your knitting porn. I found a sweater pattern with a few colors in it and I really want to try making it but I’m afraid I’ll never finish it. It could be a ten year sweater or something. It does use bulky yarn so maybe it’s possible for me to complete it quicker than I think.
I haven’t picked my holiday perfume. It’s going to be whatever I feel like grabbing when the time comes. Same with the outfit. I was looking in my closet for my holiday best and I realized I really could use some new clothes and that I currently have no holiday best.
Merry Christmas to everyone at the Posse! Thanks for doing what you do.

    • Musette says:

Poodle, congratulations! How’s the babydog doing?

      xoxoA

      • poodle says:

Thnaks for asking. Baby dog is on antibiotics again. This time for her toe. Other than that she’s not too bad but I just found out they took dad into the hospital and he’s not too good. Heading down there now. So it looks like I might be accurate in saying that winning was the best part of Christmas. 🙁

  • Elia says:

I’ve been perfume light running into Christmas actually, but I think I might do Le Dix for the day.
    Merry Christmas!

  • taffyj says:

Oh shoot, I wanted to see how the Fair Isle Olympic cowl is coming, but the picture isn’t showing up!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to the Posse, who brighten our days and sweeten our noses. 🙂

  • jilliecat says:

Merry Christmas everyone! May Santa bring you all a great fragrant gift!

Unexpectedly I am wearing PG’s Ilang Ivohibe for Christmas, which has surprised me as I thought my choice this year would be Caron’s Parfum Sacre, whose incense and warmth would be just perfect …. but …… somehow the bottle of Ilang in my cupboard kept calling me, so I finally caved in. Normally I wear it in summer as I love its happy, vanilla floweriness, but right now its gentle sweetness is comforting and Christmas-appropriate, the citrus gives it sparkle and the flowers make it dance. It is making me feel content, which is amazing given the stress and the awful storms we are suffering right now!

  • Laurels says:

Maybe Sunday by A Wing and a Prayer–it smells like eggnog.

  • HemlockSillage says:

Merry Christmas, Posse peeps! Patty, you and all the regulars here are amazing. I don’t post often, but I ghost through the comments daily, usually laughing myself silly. . .learning stuff often and generally amazed at how neat perfume people are. You guys are why I love the perfume community! (DNEM, but thanks for always so freely sharing your goodies!)

As for what to wear on Christmas, that is so difficult. I do not want to interfere with my FOOD! For Christmas Eve, I’m working, but thinking Avignon, just because it makes me feel like I’m carrying God around with me in a special way. Is that weird? It has such a strong association with church, that when I wear it outside, I think about it, in a comforting way. And it will fit nicely with candlelight communion at the late, late service. On Christmas day? Hmmm. Mebbe 31 Rue Cambon. Last year I tried Aromatics Elixir extrait and it was savory and okaay. We’ll see. I look forward to others’ more inspired choices. Merry Christmas! 😀

  • FeralJasmine says:

Gorgeous knitting, Patty. I have a small precious decant of vintage Nuit de Noel from StC that I intend to wear tomorrow and on Christmas Day. Would love to sniff Apple Brandy. Merry Christmas!

  • Lej says:

Love the pattern & all the colors! I can’t decide what perfume to wear. I’m torn between TF’s Fleur Oud, Sahara Noir and Chanel’s Coromandel. Decisions, decisions! I’d love to have a chance to sniff By K’s new Apple Brandy! It sounds lovely from what I’ve read about it.

  • eldarwen22 says:

The day after Christmas, I’m going down to Virginia to see my sister and celebrate Christmas with her and her family. I haven’t even decided to on what to wear on Christmas day and what I’m gonna pack. Right now, no 5 is probably going to come along with Incense Zagorsk.

  • Jackie b says:

    Wow, great knitting!
I have brought Bottega Veneta and Epic with me for the holiday, but BV may be too safe…let’s blast them out of the water with Epic!
Merry Christmas and thanks for all the fun here at the Posse!

  • Spiker says:

Merry Christmas! I’ll probably go with CB’s I Hate Perfume -Gingerbread. Seems right or a cozy day with family.

  • Caroline says:

Merry Christmas to you as well, Patty, and to all the Posse contributors–thanks for providing such entertainment.
I’m on a Shalimar kick, following years of loathing it!

    • Lilah Veil says:

You too with the Shalimar, Caroline? I can’t get enough of the stuff right now. It is a strange and mysterious scent; not the best my nose has ever smelled but there is a certain complexity and mystery to it that makes it so intriguing and beautiful. I threw a large vintage bottle away about 7 years ago because I could not stand it. Then.. suddenly, it began to call my name again until it would not stop so I purchased a bottle of the EDP. I love it again, even moreso than ever, but this time if I weary of it I will not discard it. Shalimar is haunting. It gives generously and always returns. 😉

  • Liz K says:

No idea what I will wear for Xmas- either perfume or dress, yikes! Maybe Agent Provocateur as I just got myself a bottle while shopping for gifts or possibly a big white floral if I am in the mood.
Love that cowl. I am trying to learn how to crochet again. Don’t know why I bother as I never finish a thing I start in knitting, crochet, needlepoint, or embroidery. My closet is a half finished project graveyard. You do gorgeous work. Merry holidays to all you posse folks!

  • ElizabethC says:

Unfortunately, no perfume this Christmas (family members with allergies). First day that I can, I’m wearing Nuit de Noel parfum! Big fan of apple brandy, was lucky to try Lairds 12 year apple brandy (both by itself and in a Jack Rose). It was really impressive! The idea of a scent based on this sounds wonderful.

  • Ellen says:

We will do Christmas late as we are waiting for out of town travelers to arrive. Have been wearing Alahine and will wear Fille en Aiguilles tomorrow in honor of the day/Eve.

  • greennote2 says:

We did Christmas early and I wore En Passant because I wanted to relax and I felt like projecting summer (as it is here south of the Equator). But a few days ago I wore Parfum Sacre for the first time in a long time and now totally get all the love I read about for it, it was gorgeous the whole day long. Love the knitting porn, and with you on the bored at 1.5 times.
