Creed Acqua Originale – Asian Green Tea, Cedre Blanc, Iris Tuberose, Aberdeen Lavender, Vetiver Geranium

Creed Acqua Originale Collection just in introduced in 2014 five perfumes. – Asian Green Tea, Cedre Blanc, Iris Tuberose, Aberdeen Lavender, Vetiver Geranium.`

This won’t be an extensive review of each of the five.  Overall, I do like the collection. It fills some holes in the Creed lineup. I just didn’t find a lot that was really overly fabulous. But a nice collection regardless.

The collection was inspired by Olivier Creed’s many travels, synthesizing those adventures into perfume as art.

Creed Asian Green Tea is a ctirus aromatic based on a love of  the culture of Japan, nwith notes of bergamot, mandarin, lemon petitgrain, violet, heliotrope, rose, cassie, green tea, amber, sandalwood and musk.  I really like this, and it’s the one that I think fills a hole for Creed. Do they have any other tea fragrance?  It’s subtle, has the Creed imprint, but has a plush violet green tea aroma that’s pretty charming.

Creed Cedre Blanc is a tribute to the Virginia Blue Ridge mountains Creed loved with notes  laurel, cardamom, galbanum, geranium, water lily, jasmine, Virginian cedar, vetiver and sandalwood.  I think Creed has some other scents similar to this, but I really like the treatment of cedar. There are moments when it feels a little too aquatic, but I suffer through them and get to a better laurel and spiced mixed with the cedar.

Creed Iris Tuberose, a white floral, is based on two of Creed’s favorite places – Tuscany and India.  Notes of iris, galbanum, violet leaf, orange, Indian tuberose, ylang ylang, lily of the valley, Sicilian orange blossom, musk and Mexican vanilla.   More tuberose on the open with gentle iris and other floral support.  Creed does have other tuberose and iris scents, yes?  I never pay as much attention as I should.  I really do like this one.  The tuberose skirts the edge of somewhat skanky, which is a great plus, and that makes it much more interesting for me than a lot of the Creed florals.  Really liked this one.

Creed Aberdeen Lavender was created as homage to Queen Victoria, honoring the Scottish Highlands filled with lavender that she loved.  An oriental fougere, it has notes of absinthe, rosemary, bergamot, lemon, lavender, tuberose, iris, rose, patchouli, leather and vetiver.   Creed has a lot of lavender-based scents, but this one brings some new stuff. It’s not a traditional fougere, it’s definitely oriental. The pairing of strong absinthe and rosemary give it a quirky feel, but it stays really wearably great.

Creed Vetiver Geranium is inspired by the Island of Java, home of some of the world’s finest vetiver  Notes of Indonesian vetiver, geranium, granny smith apple, bergamot, lemon, cinnamon, rose, patchouli, cedar and amber.  Again, Creed has a lot of vetiver in their lineup, but this brings some new perfume shapes out.  Spices and geranium give the vetiver a bed of warmth that’s a hit with me. This wound up being my favorite and the one I least expected to surprise me with how offbeatly lovely it was.

So favorite Creed fragrance, if you have one?  I’ll give away three sets of samples to commenters today.

  • trickyholly says:

Iris tuberose and the green tea one sound intriguing! I have a small decant of the lovely fleur de the rose bulgare and it is gorgeous!

  • Lotta says:

I own only one , which is Fleurissimo!
For those Grace Kelly days! 🙂
Would love to try these , the first two sounds most interesting to Me .

  • Jaime says:

I haven’t been interested in trying any Creed *ducks* — until this latest batch. These new ones actually sound interesting enough for me to stick my ear to the ground, alert for more opinions & experiences! 🙂

  • Civet says:

I quite liked their oud entry, was it called Imperial Oud? Didn’t smell any oud in it, but it was nice nonetheless.

  • Julie says:

I’ve never tried a Creed! I’ve had an impression of them as stuffy and over-priced, but I recently realized that’s not quite the case. I want to try some of their scents soon, and the new ones sounds lovely. The green tea, tuberose and lavender all appeal to me.

  • Elia says:

GIT is my favourite. The first I tried and still the best to me. There are a couple of other strong contenders though.

  • Elena says:

I dug Royal Oud, but not a whole lot else stands out to me. I think I liked white flowers or whatever the hell the name of that popular one was, but thought it not even close to worth the price.

  • Kandice says:

I’ve only smelled one Creed (don’t remember which one) and I wasn’t taken with it. However I realize that is hardly representative of the line, so I ‘d love to have the opportunity to try more. Thanks for the opportunity!

  • teri says:

I have a split of Virgin Island Water which I wear and love. But other than a sample vial of Love in Black, which I truly disliked, I haven’t tried any other women’s scents from Creed.

My late husband wore Green Irish Tweed and I always loved it on him. It’s a little tough to smell it now – too many memories – but I’m still a staunch admirer.

  • I haven’t tried anything from Creed. It’s just not a brand that’s really gotten my attention. Don’t know why. Maybe price had something to do with it too. These do sound interesting, though.

  • Mary K says:

I like Creed Spring Flower. I find that I wear it a lot in spring and summer. The new ones you’ve desribed sound really good to me, and it;s nice that there’s five in this collection.

  • Kathryn says:

My favorite Creed is the late, lamentably discontinued and totally radiant Angelique Encens, one of my most favorite perfumes. I also like Sublime Vanille, not because it is in anyway exceptional on me, but exactly because it isn’t. It’s subtle, easy to wear, and appropriate for any occasion, though more than a bit expensive for that sort of thing. These new ones sound interesting. Thanks for the draw!

  • einsof says:

my Creed forays have been pleasant so far, but nothing to sway me to a FB. These sound delightful and i too find a skanky tuberose enticing. 😉 thank you for the review and draw!

  • Neva says:

I think I started my trip into niche perfume with Creed’s Imperial Millesime and in this scent I immediately realized what is (or should be) considered “niche”. As far as I remember, first I smelled parsley and thought – this cannot work out well – but it became utterly amazing. I’ll always remember the happiness when I discovered it and then the disappointment when I realized the price range of Creed’s perfumes…I’d love to try out some new Creed creations, because I’m sure they’re worth it.

  • JanLast says:

Tabarome is very nice, but I wouldn’t sell the farm for it. So it would have to be Virgin Island Water which goes with me on every tropical trip! And I love the smell of Green Irish Tweed.

  • Lynne Marie says:

Aberdeen Lavender sounds gorgeous – I do so love fougeres! I like Sublime Vanille but, as another commenter said, it’s not FB worthy to me. Favorite Creed, hands down, is Green Irish Tweed. It will forever and always be the quintessential elegant masculine to me!

  • malsnano86 says:

The Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia have water lily? (Looks out window… cedar, check. Mountain laurel, check. Water lily, nope.) Okay, okay, I know that there’s no vetiver or sandalwood growing around here either, but water lily tends to dominate anything it’s in, from my experience.

I haven’t smelled much Creed – Fleur de The’ Rose Bulgare was a pretty rose soliflore, and Fleurs de Bulgarie was so soapy I could NOT manage it. Spring Flower (I know, my tastes are pretty girly) was also pleasant, but had nothing to distinguish it from other peony compositions, and in my opinion wasn’t nearly as nice as that bottle of The Healing Garden In Bloom I bought at the drugstore for $7, circa 2004. Could be I just haven’t smelled the right ones from this house.

I’m awash in untested samples and nothing about these is grabbing me, so please DNEM – but thanks for the opportunity.

  • Audrey says:

I don’t have any creed, nor have I tried it. I would love to try . Thank you for the chance for a draw!

  • greennote2 says:

OMG, I’ve got a sample of Virgin Island Water that I still haven’t tried. I’ll wear it tomorrow. I really liked Jasmal, but I’m trying not to fall in love with discontinued lines… Tabarome I found a bit masculine, 2000 Fleurs was lovely but a bit short lived, Silver Mountain Water was lovely too, though again just tipping over into masculine a bit too much (and from me, who considers herself firmly in the unisex camp). All of this collection sound like I would like them. I’d love to try them Patty.

  • Unpaletteable says:

The price has kept me away from Creed Perfumes, so it would be wonderful to try some samples – Iris Tuberose, Japanese Green Tea and Aberdeen Lavender sound particularly interesting. Aberdeen Lavender made me smirk though, as I know it most for being an industrial port town, infused with marauding oil rig workers on their weeks off, letting off steam. Could account for the absinthe note I suppose…

  • Peggy McMillan says:

I haven’t sampled any of the Creeds–I love the idea of a fragrance inspired by mountains in the American South, where I live. I also am intrigued with the Aberdeen Lavender and the absinthe!

  • Jill says:

I too have avoided the line, because of price and lack of accessibility to the many fragrances offered in the line, where to start?! These all look wonderful; I’d definitely want to try the lavender and vetiver scents, and probably the cedar, just to smell Creeds take Virginia, a state for lovers 🙂

  • Donna S says:

That was Acqua Fiorentina by the way. gotta love these phones. ????

  • Donna S says:

I must go try the tuberose. Glad you really liked it. Twice! Makes me want to give it a sniff. I’m always looking for a good Tuberose scent. I like Acua Florentina in early spring a lot. I also enjoy Vigin Island Water. In the winter when I need a dose of island I like to pop this one on! Great getaway even if just for a day. I also have Fleurs de Gardenia. Thanks for the draw Patty.

  • Sherri says:

Virgin Island Water, Fleurissimo, and Irisia (I am probably the only person in the world who likes that one)! Thanks for the draw, Patty!

  • Lauren M says:

I love Creed Windsor, and have worn it every New Year’s Eve since it came out. Haven’t tried very many Creeds, but I like some of the real oldies, like Bois du Portugal. These sound interesting, especially the Lavender and Vetiver ones. Thanks for the draw!

  • solanace says:

The only Creed I´ve tried is Irish Green Tweed, which smells lovely on my husband. Thank you for the giveaway, Patty!

  • kizzers says:

I love Aventus on my husband and Tubereuse Indiana for myself, I’ve just never got round to springing for a full bottle. These all sound pretty interesting. Thanks for the draw!

  • Irina says:

never tried any- so, no fav, yet
    thanks for the draw

  • Lynley says:

Erm.. another confession for not having tried any Creed, in case I might be tempted to spend that much..
Iris and Tuberose sounds like two very different personalities combined and I’m curious to try it. And I’ve never met a vetiver or a tea fragrance I didn’t like!

  • jilliecat says:

Oh no! Ear worm alert! I now can’t get out of my head Laurel and Hardy singing The Trail of the Lonesome Pine “On the blue ridge mountains of Virginia ………”. I must add I am not that old, just made to watch a lot of their films by my dad!

My favourite Creed is Fleurissimo and haven’t yet found another of theirs that I like as much, but haven’t sampled that many.

  • Patch Gal says:

The Creeds always seem a little simple to me since I lean toward Oriental, heavier fragrances, but with summer I’m thinking Green Tea and Vetiver Geranium might be perfect.

  • katrin says:

Surprisingly, I really like Tuberose Indiana and Vanisia, but not the Creed unisex scents which leave me cold.

  • Spiker says:

I haven’t tried any of the Creed fragrances, so this would be a lovely opportunity. Please enter me.

  • edpgypsy says:

My favorite Creed is Virgin Island Water. There’s just somethin’ ’bout it! These sound interesting, especially the Iris Tuberose.

  • flowergirlbee! says:

i haven’t really like the creeds i have smelt so far…aventus had something interesting about it but also something really done to death..i have been meaning to smell cypres musc, green irish tweed and jasmal…always open to having my mind changed…i would love to find a treasure in the mix : )

  • bevfred says:

The extra “sound really interesting” is an echo!

  • bevfred says:

I’d love to try Iris Tuberose and Vetiver Geranium. Both sound really interesting sound really interesting. But the Aberdeen intrigues the heck out of me.
    Cheers!

  • AnnaT says:

Out of the ones I have tested, Sublime Vanille is the only one I liked but not enough to buy a full bottle. These new ones sound interesting, though.

  • Alexandra L. says:

I’ve only tried Spring Flower. It’s quite lovely and feminine. The Asian Green Tea is intriguing. Would love to sniff these new scents!

  • L Ryan says:

No particular standout for me tho all of the ones I’ve sniffed are obviously of high quality. The new batch sounds lovely, save the lavender. ..never a favorite of mine.

  • Ellen says:

I have never sampled anything by Creed. Horrors!! Its true, I just have never gotten around to them, so the samples would be awesome. Thanks for the opportunity.
