Nut n’ honey Monday

Happy Monday, everyone (and happy Presidents’ Day for those of you in the U.S.)! Alas, between not feeling well and computer issues, I’m a little lean in the post material department — one of those I got nuttin’ honey (nut n’ honey) days. So share your favorite scents with nut and/or honey notes if you’d like.

Anyhoo, wishing everyone a good day (lucky you if you’re off today) and a great week! Hugs to you all!

  • My favorite is Ginestet Botrytis and 4160 Tuesdays Dirty Honey.

Still have a full back-up bottle of Naked Honey cause I love it so much. Wish they would relaunch it!

  • CbSutcliffe says:

MAC Naked Honey and Ginestet Botrytis are high on my list. After seeing this yesterday I had to dig out my stashed Naked Honey and wear it today!

  • March says:

MIEL DE BOIS HAHAHAHAHA. I lurve it so much. Feel better.

  • Portia says:

Nuts! I love the almond in fragrances currently. It helps create the perfect nougat accord. Doesn’t nougat also feature honey? MMMMMM
    Portia xx

  • Nadja Sand says:

Not so into nuts, but I LOVE honey! I have quite a few that I love, but here are a few that stand out. Here is my current top three. Xerjoff Mamluk is my favorite animalic honey, delicious and decadent but in a darkly sensual way. Slumberhouse Sova is more of an autumnal herbal honey. A harvest time honey with hay and hops and sticky sweet sap. Finally there is Carner El Born which is like a honeyed vanilla and fig liqueur, very boozy, with a non-gourmand edge of angelica and peru balsam.

  • tiffanie says:

Amoureuse is honey + tangerine + white flowers. I love it. No nuts although there is cardamom seed. Half credit? šŸ˜‰

  • Merry Rower says:

On the honey front, it would have to be SL Chergui for me. My skin amplifies the honey in Chergui, yet the scent overall is not too sweet for me.

I have a nut scent question for all you experts. There is a common fragrance ingredient which reads as terribly rancid nut oil to my nose. It’s mainly in aquatic scents or those billed as heavy on the ozone, and tends to be more common (but not exclusive) to department store perfumes. Does anyone else get rancid nut oil from certain scents? And do you know what the ingredient/molecule is?

    • March says:

YEP. I know whereof you speak. I think I sussed this out once, based on Luca Turin’s critique of something. It’s in more men’s scents; or maybe just more noticeable there because there’s less sweetness. I *think* it’s supposed to read as peppery musk. To me it smells like a cross between b.o. and rancid nuts. I think it’s the ozone?

  • rosarita313 says:

DSH Chinchilla is my favorite honey, it smells like honey and the furry little honeybee :)) hope you are feeling better soon, Ann!

  • Musette says:

my favorite honey is the old Perlier Miele lotion! xoxoxoA

  • Centrepiece extrait by 4160Tuesdays. like being dipped in shimmering honey! Bliss.

  • Paddy Mogan says:

I also adore L from soft surroundings!

  • Have to go with vintage Shocking for the honey. Yumm.

  • PJ says:

Although this scent’s pedigree may not be fancy, L. Eau De Parfum by Soft Surroundings has opening notes of tobacco and black honey that make me almost swoon. It’s Way up there as a fav winter fragrance.
