Art & Olfaction Award Perfume Samples Giveaway!

Denver French BulldogsAnd we are in April!  This month, doing something a little different. As you know or may not know, Art & Olfaction Award Finalists have been announced.   Collecting and trying these is always interesting, and the sample giveaway for April will be a sample set of many of these. Can’t say all, may not even be half, but they will be fun to sniff! (to the left, The baby French Bulldogs Cora and Anya taking a break from fighting on my legs to pose).

Some new brands made the list this year, and some came in with a new entry this year that were finalists last year.  Thorn & Bloom Limestone is an early favorite of mine.  The samples may be very small as some of these are incredibly pricey.  I’ll even have a surprise in there of something really coveted that isn’t an A & O finalist.  Well, you’ll see since I’ll review it next week.

Interesting moment this week.  I had to open the back gate to throw something Buddy the Lab had gotten into the trash.  It was open a crack and the tiny Anya scampered through.  I went to grab her in the driveway, and this proved much more difficult than I imagined as she thought we were going to have another great game of chase.  Uh-oh.  As she raced by me, avoiding my hands, baby Cora came through the gate – yes, I did not take the second the close it to prevent more dogs from escaping.  The two of them procedeed to race down the driveway in front of me, having the time of their life.  Headed for the street.  I’m thinking…  what?!?!  Then I remembered, they are both in puppy K obedience classes and will do almost anything for treats AAAND I had treats in my pockets.  I hollered, “Cora, Come!” and thank God she whipped around and started racing back to me to get her treat, as did Anya.  Scooped up the Frenchies, headed back towards the gate, managed to convince Vinnie the English Bulldog there was something in it for him as well if he’d flip his very slow butt around and go back in the gate.  Whew, all dogs inside the gate with treats from a grateful dog-mom, who now refuses to go anywhere without dog treats in her pockets.

The kitchen remodel is at a halt right now as we wait for countertops to be cut. I did get my beautiful white fake leather tufted bar stools in.  Wow, they are way prettier than I thought they’d be and comfy!

Drop a comment to be entered, and I’ll draw from commenters for the A&O Award Finalist sample set.

Those are some very cute dogs in the picture! Thank you for the draw!

  • Ann says:

Oh, dear, Patty — my heart nearly stopped when I read about the dogs heading down the driveway toward THE street! Whew- thank heavens for training and dog treats! How is Mr. V adjusting to the adorable newbies? And how did you wind up with so many pups? And of course, DNEM, but as always, thanks for offering the drawing.

  • Paige W says:

Oh heavens, that must have got the adrenaline going! Glad all the pups are safe! My teacup poodle would try to squeeze under the backyard fence, and once she even walked off with a family who were out for a stroll! Needless to say, mayhem ensued and that fence gap was boarded up post-haste. 🙂

  • tiffanie says:

Thank you for sharing the little puppers, they are adorable. I want to scritch their ears and rub their bellies. 🙂

  • Nelle says:

    Thanks for the draw!

  • Ingeborg says:

I would love to be entered in the draw. I really long for perfume discoveries after being forced to go without perfume for nearly four weeks.

I would love to see pictures of your kitchen remodel.

Glad your young dogs are safe, some dogs do learn to watch out for the dangers of traffic and some just seem never to learn.

  • Tiara says:

Glad there was a happy ending…wasn’t sure where that story was going for a moment there. Great idea for a draw–thanks!

  • Rachel W says:

My cat has escaped a couple times and it was nervewracking. But usually he just goes under my neighbor’s porch and makes me stand there waiting for him to come back out. Curious about these! The only one I’ve really heard about is Civet.

  • Jamie W says:

I would love to be entered in the drawing! I truly enjoy reading about your furbabes and their exploits!

  • Anne C says:

Lovely and playful dogs! Good thing they like treats!

I’d like to sniff some of the A&O Award Finalist.

  • tfk31 says:

Escapees are always such a concern. I have greyhounds, and thankfully have only had 1 unauthorized walkabout. I grabbed the leash and some cookies to go find him, opened the front door to see the little scamp sitting there, waiting for The Momma.
I covered him in kisses and cookies.

  • Nicole says:

I’m glad your dogs are safe! Good thinking with the treats! That was the only way to get my dog to listen. 🙂 I’d love to be entered into the giveaway.

  • Connie says:

I’d love to be entered. We have a rainy and gloomy day here but I’m glowing in Bal a Versailles. It’s kind of making up for the fact that I accidentally dipped my sleeve and nutella this morning and it’s going to be a little bit before I can rinse it off.

  • Clarochka says:

Cute doggies. Thank you for giveaway

  • Jirish says:

So glad that story ended happily! And hope you post photos of your kitchen when you are done. I still remember how beautifully your bathroom came together.

  • solanace says:

    Thank you for the draw!

  • Kate E. says:

Thanks for the draw and I’m glad your escape story had a happy ending!

  • laurallls says:

I am fostering a rescue dog right now. I am always terrified that she will bolt and I will have to chase her down. I am sorry that happened to you! Thank you very much for the chance at the drawing.

  • Bastet says:

Your story reminds me of when one of my kittens (too small at the time to be allowed outdoors due to hawks, foxes, etc) escaped at full speed and ran right up a tree without even pausing to look around. Much pitiable meowing before she finally managed to come back down.

  • HeidiC says:

What naughty dogs! Oh, who am I kidding — who could stay annoyed with those adorable faces!

    Thanks for the A&O draw!

  • Kandice says:

Always so scary when your fur babies get away. I’m glad they’re safe! Thanks for the draw :-). Can’t wait to see who they choose.

  • MMKinPA says:

Your frenchies slay me, they are so cute! I have a rescue beagle who is an escape artist. Sadly, as a hunting breed, he is far more interested in the smells than treats when he gets out. He’s gone for a couple of hours until he tires himself. Then he is happy to have a treat, just when I am so annoyed that I don’t want to give one!

Thanks for the draw, would love to smell the latest!

  • mikasminion says:

If you’re ever out without your treats you might try turning and running away from them. Lots of times, pups that are wound up and playing the running-away game will turn to chase you back.

  • Gigi says:

Treats solve many problems, both with pets and our humans! Thanks for the draw, it popped my eyes wide open this morning when I wanted nothing more than to close my eyes and go back to bed.

  • Lorenzo says:

Hi! So eager to smell all the finalist of the A&O Award! 😉

  • Musette says:

Holy cats & crackers! My guts twisted like a hose, reading that! El O thinks I am insane but I keep our gate locked because Kids and The Girl goes out via the back way. Even with that I always check first thing in the am to make sure it hasn’t been opened by chance – nobody needs some 130lb behemoth out in PUB-LICK!

    SO glad they are safe!!!

dnem – just wanted to say how happy I am they are safe! and how paranoid I am about gates. The Littlies are the worst for slithering out of a crack – it takes a Pretty Big Crack for The Girl to ooch through 😉

    xoxoxo

Like AJ I am feeling Between.

  • AnnJune says:

Thank God all your dogs are safe! I’ve got a little one who has been known to take herself for a walk up the sidewalk on the rare occasions that the gate is left open. Would love to try these samples as I’m in a bit of a rut between the winter and spring/summer perfumes. Thanks again for the draw!

  • jenbat says:

Oy, I remember those games of ‘chase’ with my dog, he was such an escape artist! Glad you got them back safely! What a great draw, I love scouring the finalists lists for new things to try.
