All of you winners – just click on Drop Us a Note at the top, send me an e-mail, remind me of what you won and get me your mailing address (Figment winners tell me if you want the man or woman_. I’ll send you a quick e-mail to let you know I got your e-mail and it didn’t land in a spam filter and then get it on the way to you.

Me, I’m just trying to juggle this going back to work thing, along with taking care of the puppies, remodeling the basement, etc.  I sometimes think I bite off way more than I can chew. 🙂  But what I’d like to give way this week is samples of the Comme des Garcons Olfactory Library re-issues.  I’ve got Soda, Lily, Sequoia, Calamus, Garage, Nomad Tea, Tar and Sticky Cake.  If you missed these over the years, you really should smell them. I think they are pretty special and a few of them are genius.  Just drop a comment telling me how you’ve been holding up this summer.  We went to Arizona for a family reunion.  Yeah, into 120s. Not sure what brain surgeon made that decision.  My 83-year-old mom even trekked down there with us.  It was boilin’ hawt.  For those of you living in it, my sympathy. I was feeling sorry for myself with the 90s here.

What’s new?

  • AnnieA says:

It’s been on the cool and grey side until the last week or so. Have a week off soon including a wedding in Portland.

I had to scurry off to translate ‘120s’, got distracted, and now it’s several days later. 47C, so yeah, that is pretty hot. How on earth did your mum cope? Here in the deep Southern Hemisphere it’s been about 50F/10C, so lots of layers and enjoying the warmth of the sun through the window. So not much journeying here, except courtesy of good books. I finally read To Kill A Mockingbird. I’ve been avoiding it for years. I was astounded that I loved it so much, I mean, it’s what kids are made to read in school, so it must be boring or intellectual, right? Wrong, so wrong. I’ve managed to miss most of these CdG over the years, it was lovely to see them return. I hope you all get to enjoy your summer at some stage.

  • Pam says:

So far the summer has been bearable. Even when we get up to 90, I can tolerate it. I may not be singin’ that song in August. My zinnias are starting to bloom, so I’m happy.

  • Ingeborg says:

No problem with too much heat on this side of the pond. i have already been to one music festival this summer, Check out Anneli Drecker and Susanne Sundfør if you are interested in good female artists. Otherwise very ready for time off work, even if most of the time looks like it will be a spent at home. Still four more days at work and a lot to wrap up before I can totally relax, but it is like this every year.

That Nomad Tea sounds interesting! Otherwise I still have some samples around here which need my attention, some of them I have just sniffed from the vial so far.

  • Kate E. says:

It’s been as high as 109 here but the worst part was when the low was in the 80’s. Waking up to that just feels like punishment. I feel like I don’t get anything done when the day starts that hot!

  • Doc Sinister says:

I’m so excited! This is my first time winning a perfume sample 😀 It’s been a bit hotter than average here in Central Texas, but we recently got some rain as well–and that makes all the difference to my spirits (and my garden’s health).

  • Tiara says:

Cannot imagine 120. Here in SW Ohio, we’ve had a string of gorgeous days. 70’s, low humidity, beautiful blue skies. Has been heavenly but we’re headed back to normal in the next few days. Hot, humid, chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Beats snow and ice! You bite off more than you can handle….I know that feeling oh so well!

  • HeidiC says:

Wow, that heat sounds brutal! We’ve been having a strange stretch of early-September weather here — rain and high 60s — but it’s supposed to get hot again this weekend. This has been a weird summer, in more ways than the weather.

  • Kandice says:

Would love to try these. Thanks for the opportunity. I agree with another commenter. I’m just trying to manage life right now, and feel like I’m failing miserably. Winning this would be a nice pick-me-up 🙂

  • Mariann says:

In my second week of my European holiday and the heatwave finally broke. Its been fantastic so far but 37 in cities like Brussels and Paris is no joke. But its so good to be home for a bit and I do love summer ?

  • Queen Cupcake says:

Kudos to you, Patty, for making that trip! I hate hot weather, personally, and would have skipped a trip like that, to the surprise of no one in my family.

Congrats to the winners–lucky ducks! I’d love to win any of the Olfactory Library thingies, especially Nomad Tea or Sequoia.

Take it easy, and enjoy your summer.

  • Stephanie says:

120s! That’s almost unthinkable. And I thought I had it bad last week in the low 100s. No need to enter me for the giveaway since I won the June 🙂

  • MaureenC says:

We had hot weather for a week, declared it a heatwave (took the opportunity to wear some “hot weather” perfumes) then we all keeled over with the shock of it. I’m taking a cousin from Southern California around Cornwall at the moment – normal service has been resumed it’s about 60 with showers!

  • nicevulady says:

Just chillin, as my kids would say. I’m waiting for the special annual visit of my two grandsons and my son. I so look forward to this all year. All my four kids and my grandchildren celebrate my birthday together. Its awesome. We’re hot and humid, but not that hot. I’m sure 90 felt cool after that.

  • Koyel says:

I’m not sure I am holding up this summer. Nothing to do with the heat, which topped out at 103; I just cannot seem to keep up with life.

  • Spring-pansy says:

Hi Patty, Yes, please enter me – these all sound like so much fun!

I am (still!!) in the midst of packing for our move to the Pacific NW. I can’t believe how long it is taking. After living here 25 years and having 3 kids along the way… Oof, I can’t wait to be done with packing / fixing up the house/ the whole dang shebang.
    Thanks!

  • tiffanie says:

Hurray for family reunions. I have many happy childhood memories of running around in a pack of cousins during reunions in Oregon for my grandfather’s family. He had 7 siblings, all married with many children and grandchildren. We were a big group. Such good times.

These days I hit the beach to beat the heat. 🙂

  • verbenaluvvr says:

I took my kids to the Black Hills of South Dakota, they absolutely loved it, especially the THREE hours they spent at the reptile park (eeeek!) So beautiful, I am ready to move there.

  • Anna says:

Staycation this summer due to unexpected emergency plumbing work $10k!!! What a vacation that could have been. I need the GdG samples!!!

  • Kathleen Smith says:

I’m loving Colorado summer! Just when we think it’s too hot, we get a nice reprieve with a cooler day. I’m leaving to visit my family in Ontario, Canada on Friday. No air conditioning needed up there! The mosquitos are the size of birds so I likely won’t be sitting outdoors in the evenings. The only Comme de Garcons fragrance I own is 2 which is a little out of my element but I love it for a change.

  • shiva-woman says:

We’ve just come down from 109 temps in California, and we’re climbing back up. I’ve been heading to the mountains where I can at least escape the asphalt. I’ve never tried these scents and they sound interesting! Thank goodness for olfactory escapes, and thank you for the giveaway!

  • Rosemary says:

120s makes our 90s seem nothing, though we have insane humidity taboot! Still in job transition, my final former lab boss leaves tomorrow, I know I have a guaranteed job in the microbiology department for a year, just not sure what I’ll be doing. Trying not to let that drive me nuts! But family beach vacation comes mid-July, so yay for that 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway, no experience with those frags at all!

  • Gigi says:

120’s? Woof! It took forever for summer to get here but it has been a beauty…not too hot, sunny and mild. I wouldn’t make it a hot second in the temps down there right now. Smoking giveaway!

  • Jeanne says:

Just got home from a 6500 mile drive to California and back. Sixth time! Glad we beat th heat.
