Shillong, Meghalaya, INDIA! + Miss Dior

Hey there Posse Peeps, Today we arrived in Shillong, Meghalaya, India. I’m really sorry this post is late. I thought I had set pieces for every day of my holiday and missed Thursday. So here is a voice from the heights of deep dark India.

Shillong, Meghalaya, INDIA!

Shillong is a hill town in the north east of India. Well, I say little but it’s freaking ridiculously HUGE!! Varun was surprised by the sheer enormity of humanity packed into such a hilly environment. We drove here from Guwahati in Assam. It was a 4 hour drive with some spectacular scenery. We only stopped once for photos but they give a really splendid idea of how fabulous the journey was.

Here are Varun and I from the lookout. It’s so misty up here and the rain has been like a soft drizzle. It’s beautiful to walk in.

The view from our hotel. We picked the second best rated here but actually it’s pretty shit. Right in the heart of town. Varun was hoping for a mountain eerie with panoramic views, Nope. To cap it off their hot water generator is broken and we are bathing from buckets. VERY Indian experience. I’m loving it but Varun is a hotelier so he sees the mechanics of hotel staying, not the adventure.

We walked this morning at around 5am for two hours around the town. My favourite pic is of this magnificent dahlia hedge. I was around a lake area set aside for morning ambulations.

I know you’re dying to know. What fragrance accompanied me upon my travels so far? Miss Dior vintage parfum. Yes, again Miss Dior has become my fragrance of choice for holidaying. There is something so utterly luxurious about it, and also so perfectly other. It elevates every experience into the realm of saga. Try Surrender To Chance for a sample, you’ll be blown away.

Most of your Summer Holidays will be over now. Are you planning your next one yet? Where to?

Ooops, I typed Diorella but I meant Dioressence is my fave. They are all so good though!

Thank you for sharing your travel stories and photos! I am in Canada, visiting family and moving my Mom. It is fall here, my favorite season and so perfect for fragrance. I’ve been wearing samples of Bogue Maai and Papillon Salome; can’t decide which I love most but both FB worthy. I have you to thank for introducing me to vintage Miss Dior and sampling all the Diors from STC. Love! My favorite is Diorella and now I am the proud owner of both the vintage and current. Happy travels Portia!

Hi Portia and thank you for the wonderful pictures. India is definitely on my bucket list and an Indian Ayurvedic doctor recommended to me Udupi in the Karnataka region. Will you be travelling there? I hope you have a wonderful time.

    • Portia says:

      Hi Neva,
I’ve not been to that spot and I’m pretty sure it’s not on this years itinerary.
We did go see the Ayurvedic doctor in Kerala a few years ago. Varun loved it but I wasn’t so convinced.
You will be surprised, overjoyed and appalled by India, often all at once.

I truly envy you being in India. It is a country that has always intrigued me. Your choice of vintage Miss Dior blew me away, in that it’s one of my all time faves. I think it’s a perfect choice. I hope you have a wonderful journey and bring back all kinds of scent and food stories.

    • Portia says:

India is totally worth it BevFred,
My advice is take a Golden Triangle tour first visit. Make sure they are 4* or 5* hotels. Most of the culture shock will be diluted for you. The first time I came here was brutal, 6 weeks! It was overload.
      Having a spectacular time thanks,
