Bubble Baths for Winter Warming Goodness

Hey Hey Perfume Posse. It must be getting pretty chilly up there in the Northern Hemisphere. What helps me get through the chilliest weather? Bubble Baths! Well, they help me through EVERY weather but I find them particularly warming and comforting in the cold. I’m not sure how many of you even have a bath in your home nowadays? It’s certainly becoming a luxury item in the current crop of apartments being built in Australia.

Bubble Baths for Winter Warming GoodnessPDI

I thought we could chat about our favourite products to pop into the bath today. As you may know I have a ridiculous amount hoarded here. If the apocalypse happens I am certainly prepared till doomsday to continue bathing in bubbles.

Bubble Baths for Winter Warming Goodness

Here is my current line up of bath products. Not all of them create bubbles but they do all smell fabulous and add to the aquatic adventure.

Elizabeth Arden Sunflowers Shower Gel

Haven’t opened it yet but I love the bright yellow bottle so much that I’ve put it on display. Very excited to find out if this super cheapie smells good.

Robert Piguet Bandit Shower Cream

This bottle seems to have been going forever. If you like the original dark smoke filled leathery excesses of Bandit then the shower gel will floor you with its glamorous beauty. I don’t know why I savour this bottle so much there are three more back ups waiting.

Lalique Hommage Shower Gel

Old fashioned masculine central. A little bit Aramis reminiscent but not really. Is the bubbliest, only need the smallest amount, and smells up the whole apartment with its yummy goodness.

Penhaligon’s Blenheim Bouquet Bath Oil

I think this is my third refill of the vintage bottle. I bought it on eBay (with two half or less full others) and the stopper was stuck fast. It had never been used because of it and was in its original packaging, decades old. It leaves my skin feeling absolutely gorgeous, so good.

Olympic Orchids Amber Labdanum Bath Oil

I sing the praises of this lavish beauty regularly here on Perfume Posse. No better starting point for layering amber perfumes. Addictive and luscious. Priced so well too.

LUSH Rose Jam Shower Gel

When I mourned the last of my Rose Jam an APJ contributor and friend sent me this enormous 500ml bottle (thanks Kate). I loved it before but now it is a super special roses moment every time. Love layering rose scents of this sweet jammy shower gel that creates perfect Bubble Baths.

Annick Gioutal Encens Flamboyant Shower Gel

You want to create the perfect base for your incense fragrances? This is the one. It adds a shimmering depth and sparkle to all of them.

Bath and Body Works Rainkissed Leaves

Want to smell like you’re in the middle of a warm rain shower in the garden? You’ll love this super cheapy. Creates excellent bubbles and a base for all those green or chypre fragrances. Even if I wear no fragrance my skin is left with a very soft green floral sheen.

Guerlain Shalimar Shower Cream

You want top feel like a million dollars as you sink grateful into steaming hot Bubble Baths? Shalimar is the answer, another one that fills the whole apartment with scent and makes me swoon.

Annick Goutal Musc Nomade Shower Gel

You want to add a range of animal and laundry musks to the way you smell? A this coating of gorgeous plush and extravagant muskiness? You can’t do much better than Musc Nomad at any price point. I got mine at the discounters for a song.

L’Artisan La Chasse aux Papillons Shower Gel

This was a gift and I love it whenever my day has a white floral adventure coming. It’s a clean, creamy, refreshing, sparkling white flower that will lift your Bubble Baths spirits from the frosty doldrums in moments.

Phooey, where’d my comment go?! Stopping by to say: I reeeaaaallly miss my old bathtub in the last house. It was a soaking tub and I could stay in there forever. There’s nothing about the current setup that makes me want to take a bath, lol. But I do buy random scented product and your stash is amazing!

  • shiva-woman says:

This is so timely. I don’t do showers. I always ask any hotel or B&B if there is a bath when I travel. I grew up with baths as the ONLY option in a very rural area, and I’ve never enjoyed water beating me down and getting in my face. The last several months I was on a quest for BUBBLE baths, as I realized salts were everywhere! Where had the bubbles gone?
So I’ve been looking high and low for old fashioned 70’s coyly sexy lady in the tub covered with bubbles up to the decoletage movie bath shot bubbles. (Now we just get back and derrier shots in steamy shower scenes). I ordered some cherry blossom gel from L’Occitane, and it’s adequate, but I was about ready to mix essential oils with dish soap, so I’ll try some of these.

Thanks to you I bought the Lush Rose Jam in the largest size (500ml) because I thought you said it is only available at Christmas and I love it . . rosey . . jammy . . delicious ?

    • Portia says:

Woo Hoo! Yep, it’s an Xmas special every year Gail.
Isn’t it the most glorious? I feel like Cleopatra or a movie star while bubbling around the tub in Rose Jam.

Portia, you’ve just given me a new list of bath and shower products to try! I adore your recommendations and enjoy reading the posts with additional favorites. I appreciate your suggestions as bases for fragrances as well. I’ll bet you never ever, not smell fabulous! I’m old school; my favorite bath oil is Youth Dew. It makes the house smell wonderful and lingers on the skin for a long time. Shalimar is a long time fragrance love of mine and I need to get some of the shower gel, as well as the Tabu!

    • Portia says:

      Hi Kathleen,
YAY! Enabling is my middle name.
Jin would heartily disagree, I often smell bad. HA!
Do you ever use the Youth Dew body lotion? It is heavenly too.

      • Kathleen Smith says:

I’ve never used Youth Dew body lotion but will add to my wish list! I love Youth Dew dusting powder in the box with the soft puff, feels so glamorous and the scent lingers forever. And, I’ve also ordered Lush Rose Jam because your recommendations never disappoint xoxo

Oh Portia, this post makes me so jealous. For a brief time, we lived in a home we were building (while we were living in it, I do NOT recommend this) but we had an excellent, enormous bath tub that I was bathing in twice a day. My dream. Now we live in a quirky, elderly bungalow with only a shower and omg, I miss that tub!! *sigh* no use crying over spilled bath salts. I need to peruse fragrancenet, definitely. I got some Tabu bath bubbles on your recommendation one year and that scent was fabulous in my shower! ??

    • Portia says:

      Hey Rosarita313,
TABU, yep that was me. Isn’t it divine in the Shower Gel. thanks for the reminder, I need to go look some out.
Bath tubs are the best, I bet you miss it. I’d be devo.

I only take baths in Montreal because I hate my bathtub in San Diego. Normally I go for Lush bath bombs for a soak. For shower gels I have 5-6 Lush ones, Mugler Alien, L’Occitane Almond Oil, Le Labo Rose 31 and Costes. I just got my order for Andy Tauer soaps but haven’t busted one open yet as I have another one in use right now.

  • Musette says:

Holy smacks and snakes! That is a STUNNING group of bath beauties right there. Alas, bubble baths are not part of my lexicon because mah ladyparts don’t like ’em – but I do envy you that collection (and I would be using them in the shower on a nightly/daily/nightly/24-7 basis)

Bandit shower gel? Be still my heart!

    xoxoox

    • Portia says:

OH NOOOOO! What a shame Musette.
Bandit Shower Gel is a thing. I had to order it from WALMART USA of all places online. It’s cheap as chips and 1000x as delicious.

I adore the Amouage body stuff, especially the body butters in winter. But normally I use the Dove bar soap in the shower. I am drooling over the Shalimar right now.

    • Portia says:

      Hey there Eldarwen22,
Jin’s favourite soap is the dove. I travel the world buying amazing soaps with incredible ingredients and he wants Dove. It’s a funny kinda bummer.
The Shalimar Shower Gel is worth every droopy moment.
