Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit – Review

Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit

Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit is one of those annoying limited time releases I tend to hate. This one I’ll hate just when it’s gone.  Never in my life has my biscuits smelled like this out of the oven – as delicious as the always do smell when I make them.  Then again, I never put ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, caramel, hazelnuts, tonka bean and vanilla in my biscuits. Not sure I want to, unless it was so it would smell like this.  I need this in a diffuser oil so my house can smell like this all the time.

It is as warm and snuggly as it sounds.  With snow forecast here for the next few days, this is perfection.  I tried to figure out some progression of this, and I just couldn’t. The gourmand notes are all swirled around with warm hazelnuts and the occasional puff of ginger and cinnamon. I don’t find it deeply gourmand. I mean, it is gourmand, but not sickly sweet. It’s just one of those addictive kind of things. Perfect for winter, so maybe it should disappear by spring?

Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit is a comfort perfume, if you want or need one.  I would have thrown this on my best of winter list if I’d had it then.  If you hate those huffy addictive hazelnut things, skip it.

Couple of drawings I needed to do.

Winners of the Tom Ford Tobacco Fatale sample – Patty Pong, Claudia S, Peppy O’brien and Birdling.

Hiram Green Slowdive large sample – Michelle J. Little

So all you winners – click on Drop Us a Note at the top, send me an e-mail, remind me of what you won and get me your mailing address. I’ll send you a quick e-mail to let you know I got your e-mail and it didn’t land in a spam filter and then get it on the way to you.

Yes, of course I’m doing a drawing for four samples of this. Drop a comment to be entered.  Unless you absolutely detest hazelnut and gourmands of any stripe, you want to try this.

  • Karen says:

Yes, I do believe I’d like to get in the running for this too. I’ve not tried a gourmand, and it sounds interesting to smell good enough to gnaw my own arm off. 😉

  • Kristen says:

    sounds wonderful!

  • Maureen says:

I would love to try this. Ginger is a comfort scent, and the ginger actor I’d love to comfort me is the guy who plays Jamie Frazer on the TV series Outlander…wrap me up in your kilt, oh yeah!

  • Kristen Stewart says:

Would love to try this and experiment with a little layering!

  • Lynne Vitzthum says:

I’m intrigued – I loved the Jo Malone orange chocolate limited edition scent that was released a few years back and wish I had bought more of it! Sophisticated gourmands are my thing.

  • Cara says:

I’m one of the few who doesn’t have a longevity problem with Jo Malone and I love their darker efforts so I would LOVE to try this

  • Solanace says:

    Oh, hazelnuts are delicious!

  • RoseMacaroon says:

Oooooh, this does sound comforting and scrumptious. I think the only ginger perfume I’ve tried is Providence Perfume Company’so Ginger Lily, which is a big love for me, so I’d love to try more in the spicy gourmand category for sure. Thanks for the review, and the chance!

  • Rox says:

With so many amazing fragrances and the fact that I have Nordstrom, Perfume House, Fumerie and sephora in my town I am selective. I have to LOVE it. For me, this was a like only. I was disappointed as I had heard good things and I adore gourmands. At least they have some limited editions coming out soon with grain notes and I love to bake bread.

  • MEL says:

“I’ve had enough of your ginger nonsense,” said Tilda Swinton to a redhead employee in Trainwreck. But I’m totally down w/ ginger so pls throw my name in the hat!

  • Kandice says:

I smelled this at Neiman’s. It was a little light on me but it may have just been that I didn’t spray enough on my wrist. I’d definitely like to try it again. However I’m almost afraid to find out if I like it. They were already out of it at Neiman’s, so it’s already becoming hard to find.

  • Luanne Teall says:

It sure does sound addictive. And now I need to go bake cookies. Count me in for the draw!

  • Holly Walker says:

I could use a bit of a warm up right about now! Thank you for the chance to win!

  • Ingeborg says:

I love crisp ginger snaps and nutty aromas so would love to try this, even if I have had little luck with JM scents so far.

  • Koyel says:

I most certainly do want to try this. I will mention that by “biscuits,” I think she means “cookies” for us Americans, but those are some good-sounding cookies.

I’m heartened to see that Tara C says it smells like Dries van Noten to her. I LOVE DvN, so that suggests I’ll like GB, but I also have a decant of DvN, so not being able to buy a FB of this one might not make me sad 🙂

  • Neva says:

I love ginger cookies and the description reminded me of SL Jeux de Peau which is the only type of gourmand I like. All my Christmas candles always smell like ginger cookies because I love it so much. Would like to try it. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Sapphire says:

This sounds so good. Very tempting for a blind buy. Thank you for the drawing!

  • rosarita says:

Count me in, sounds yummy 🙂

  • YUUUUUUUUUMMMM! That’s all I have to say about that. I could use some warm, spicy comfort right about now. Thank you!

  • Anna Egeria P. says:

I’d love to try this fragrance! Thanks so much for the draw!

  • Jennifer S. says:

Winter coziness? I’m all for that and not too sweetly gourmand sounds just right! Thanks for the chance!

  • Karen Taylor says:

I’m excited to try this – the reviews for Ginger Lily were good, but the cardoman in Mimosa and Cardamon seemed minimal. I’d love a spicy comfort scent to finish off this gray winter.

  • AmyS says:

I seriously need this fragrance in my life!

  • Tara C says:

DNEM. I smelled this at Bloomingdales a few weeks ago and it reminded me a lot of Dries Van Noten, which I already own so I decided not to purchase.

  • Jane says:

It sounds delicious! Thanks for the draw.

  • nicevulady says:

Just the thing to wear to tea. Thanks for the draw.

  • shiva-woman says:

I want to try those bisquits! Please do enter me into the drawing. I haven’t tried more than 2-3 JMs.

  • Sara says:

Hi Patty, sounds delicious, please enter me 🙂 FYI I think what they, as a British company, mean by biscuit are British biscuits which are similar to cookies, not the scone-like American biscuits.

  • tfk31 says:

Ohhhhh – that sounds so good. I am a sucker for almost all Jo Malone too. Thank you for the draw.
