Silvana by Silvana Casoli for IL PROFVMO 2017

Hey Posse! I recently ordered from First In Fragrance and asked them to throw in some samples of new stuff I’ve probably never smelled before. One of the carded samples is Silvana by IL PROFVMO. Created by house perfumer Silvana Casoli to celebrate 20 years as the nose for IL PROFVMO, an Italian fragrance house with loads of perfumes. Surprisingly this is a house that uses naturals.

Silvana Il Profvmo FragranticaFragrantica

Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
Floral notes, pink pepper, iris, white musk

The first thing I notice it the soft, blueish pink juice. It’s such a beautiful colour, so sweet and rich looking.

Completely taken me by surprise. This is not what I was expecting at all.

Bright, alcoholic pink pepper burst out of the nozzle and fill the room. It’s not a huge fragrance but zingy and aerated. The opening fireworks are brief but fun. Amorphous florals that feel more like cherry blossom and crabapple petals. You know that soft, cool, slightly furry feeling when you rub them against your cheek. It’s a feeling more than a scent.

Dry iris is the focal point of Silvana, a desiccated iris that smells like no other I’ve come across. Woody and parched, it floats ethereally in the air and combines air and earth perfectly. I feel like the note list is missing some ingredients. There seems to be a stemmy greenness underneath everything. A recently but dahlia stem, or hydrangea. That dry but midst green. Also something quite bitter like wormwood or artemisia.

If you love iris but are bored with the ones readily available and are looking for a quiet but insistent scent Silvana is definitely one you should try.

Ooooh, this sounds nice! I love the way you describe it. Weirdly, I love to sniff iris perfumes but never seem to reach for any to wear, and I don’t even know why. I used to smell Prada Infusion d’Iris on the Metro all the time but not so much lately.

I like Hiram Green’s naturals, they are potent and last well on me.

This sounds…interesting. Does it wear pretty close to the skin? That’s been my experience with naturals — they’re lovely, but don’t have much stamina or projection, which can be fine. The only naturals I’m very familiar with are from Aftelier — I like her Cuir et Gardenia, and Cepes et Tuberose is wonderfully weird.

      Hey HCZERWIEC
Unusually for a natural plenty of projection. It doesn’t smell like most naturals but has the diffusive quality of designer.
