Rahele by Neela Vermeire Creations: Wedding Scent

Hey Hey Posse! As you may remember I was freaking out about what fragrance to wear to Jin and my wedding. In the end Rahele by Neela Vermeire Creations got the gong. Interestingly without any conversation on the subject Jin decided he wanted something bright and springlike, a fragrance that would smell like a new beginning, robust and hefty but fun. His choice was another Neela, Bombay Bling. It’s his favourite from the collection by far and it and Bottega Veneta EdP vie for his Signature Scent status. Obviously he smelled wonderful.

Rahele was the perfect choice. It’s an osmanthus and violet fragrance with depths supplied by leather, sandalwood and patchouli. For some reason though my body and nose smell it as a sappy green white floral with fruity accents over the top of the registered notes. While being beautiful and fully present it isn’t overwhelming and created a soft nimbus of scent that lasted through the day and into the evening.

Below are a couple of shots from the afternoon. The whole room ended up being 105 peeps including String Quartet and Celebrant. The event only went for three hours and it was in an Italian restaurant. We had 3 x Pasta and Garlic Bread entree, 3 x Pizza and Salad main, creme Brûlée or Tiramisu dessert. The sparkling wine was Australian Croser and we went through 5.5 x 12 bottle cases.

Tara from A Bottled Rose flew out and longtime friend Sandy Bottom was our celebrant.

My favourite cousin Mark walked me up the aisle and Jin’s Dad did the honours for him.

Bridal Party, no idea what we are laughing about but this is exactly how the whole day felt.

Here we are with most of the Korean Contingent.

We cut the cake which was made by our girlfriend Sue. It was a real family affair.

I’m not sure where all these photos came from. Some are Kath, Alice, Matt and Phil but others have just spontaneously appeared.

These are my vows, Jin’s aren’t mine to share but they were equally heartfelt. We were grinning from ear to ear but apparently there wasn’t a dry eye in the house as we gave them. It was a very special day for us and I’m hoping we can get rid of the families soon and move back in together for some connubial bliss.

More perfume chatter next week.

Lovely vows, I value honesty too. We can only do our best. Wishing you a lifetime of happiness!

    • Portia says:

      Hey there TaraC,
It’s so easy to fib or lie and I constantly battle that ease. Not always successfully, but trying. Jin and I quite often fess up to mistruth within 2 minutes of it blurting out, or after real thought on the question.

      Thanks Pam,
We had a really good time. It wasn’t extravagant or pricey but it was fun and allowed us to get as many people as possible there.

I have a really big lump in my throat now, but I want to type to say that I love your scent choices! You chose such beautiful, memorable ones. I think 30 years from now you’ll still be glad you went with those ones. What a joyful celebration you had! Love the earnest, sincere quality that came through loud and clear in your vows. Just delightful! Thanks for sharing Portia! 😀

      Hey DinaC,
YAY! I wonder what we’ll all be doing in 30 years? I imagine I’ll be near to or already pushing up daisies.
      Thanks and you’re welcome,

Holy snakes and cabbage! Those vows made me get a bit teary! Lovely – in a very loving, pragmatic way! One of the reasons I love you as a couple is you seem to both work to Make It So. You understand that it’s not all doves and rose petals, that it involves ‘wanting to’ and ‘trying’. I applaud you for that. And I adore you.

      Hey Musette,
Tears are good if they remind you life is worth living.
Ha! Loving and pragmatic! Oxymorons, all of us I suppose.
You too are loved, to the sky and back.

Once again, congratulations!! Your vows were perfect – simple but so heartfelt. So glad you had the wonderful day you and Jin deserved!

    • Portia says:

      Hi MMKinPA,
I had those vows rattling around in my head for ages, what really felt important to promise, how fallible people involved in love and life are, that most marriages end in divorce around the 8 year mark nowadays. What I really wanted Jin to understand through them was that we could try, do our best, give it a shot. He’s worthy of reality.
