UR±SILK 19 by Jean Jacques for UÈRMÌ 2018

Hi there Posse! I’m wearing something new. It came as a GWP with the latest First In Fragrance order and I love it. UR±SILK 19 is its name and I have zero idea of how they want me to say it, nor how to say the crews name.

How has this brand so completely passed me by since 2014. I’ve now tried OR ± Damask and NO ± Suede and they were both beautifully blended but Silk 19 is streets ahead.

UR±Silk 19 UER MI FragranticaFragrantica

First In Fragrance gives these featured accords:
Iris, fig, bergamot, white tea, cardamom, jasmine, vetiver, white musky, cedar

I smell almost nothing from the notes list but this stuff is really lovely. It it obviously 21st century niche but different to anything else I’ve smelled.

UR±SILK 19 takes a while to finish its opening niche woodsy thing and once that calms down a coconutty fig emerges which makes my nose think the wood is sandalwood. I can’t smell any of the citrus at all but there is a background greenness and hints of a wet cardboard leaning iris. While being nothing alike I get faint reminiscences of the way A Quiet Morning by Miller et Bertaux feels. There’s something about way the composition tells its story that is similar.

Now that I’ve looked at the note list I can pick out the tea, it’s gentle but present.

All this excitement is underscored by some standard issue niche base. I’m not complaining, it works very well for me.

I tried UR±SILK 19 the other night with my mate TinaG and thought it smelled very me then. Today I have worn it from morning to night. It has had three respritzes in about 13 hours, one about an hour ago to write this review. I’m thinking to buy the FB on my next FiF order. That’s how much I’m enjoying it.

What new stuff have you been smelling?

I haven’t heard of this fragrance, but I count of reading your posts to learn what is new and worth sampling! Not new, but new for me; I’ve been sampling Andy Tauer and Auphorie. My most recent purchases are Tauer Rose Vermeille and Auphorie Mayura. Both gorgeous in my opinion.

      Hi there Kathleen,
I don’t know the Auphorie brand. I’m going to have a little look see. Thanks for keeping ME up to date.

I heard Shalini was coming out with a 3rd perfume so finally decided to try the first two. Shalini started out green and before it could become white flowers, poof, it was gone, every time. Jardin Nocturne’s oud is too overpowering on me. MEMO Lalibela was nice enough for me to want to sample more of the line, especially the non-leathers.
This summer I have been wearing SMN Caprifoglio (Honeysuckle) a lot. It’s a lovely honeysuckle except occasionally it becomes almost a jasmine on me. Fun and pretty and always gets compliments!

      Hi there Maya,
      Great to see you.
Those MEMOs will bankrupt you if you let them. Really good but PRICEY!
Santa Maria Novella! Love their stuff, so wearable yet often they also hit the weird button.

That sounds very interesting. I’ve sniffed nothing new here. My collection of samples and decants and bottles has grown beyond my ability to manage it. Most days I can’t decide what to wear so I either skip scent or wear the same four or five things.

That sounds really lovely…like my cup of tea, too. I haven’t heard of this line, so thanks for the introduction. I’ve been trying some of the Ormonde Jayne scents for the first time. They’re all very nice. My fav so far is Ormonde Woman.

  • Tara C says:

Nothing new, waiting anxiously for some samples to arrive, including the new Amouage. Today it’s Arquiste Anima Dulcis.

  • Musette says:

Not one thing in that notes list makes any sense – yet it sounds like it works beautifully! Which is the whole point of perfume, imo. Glad it’s so pretty – sometime down the line I’ll have to try it. Right now I’m wearing the new Amouage (review coming Tuesday). A lot!

Wow, Portia! This sounds like a winner for you 🙂

  • Tina G says:

It was definitely my fav of the samples. Mind you, they were all pretty good.
