Egypt by Eight & Bob

Hey Posse Peeps! Egypt by Eight & Bob has been a total surprise. Not because it’s adventurous, new or groundbreaking but because I love it so much. The original fragrance from Eight & Bob has become a mainstay among the wealthy Sydney lesbian population. I often come across its handsome tones when giving a mate a hug at an event. Rarely are the rest of the brand noted or talked about on blogs or boards. I think there’s just too much out there and some good stuff gets missed.

Egypt by Eight & Bob 2014

Egypt EIGHT & BOB FragranticaFragrantica

Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
Top: Lavender, lemon, moss
Heart: Cardamom, nutmeg
Base: Sandalwood, leather, patchouli

It was the note list that drew me when shopping at Surrender To Chance recently. Talk about ticking a bunch of my favourite boxes. Lavender, moss, cardamom, sandalwood, Leather AND patchouli! Sign me up. So I grabbed 5ml

The lavender in the opening is reminiscent of Lolita Lempicka but without the overdose of fairy floss. Somehow the lemon and nutmeg give it a zing that is flattened out by the creamy green cardamom, There are even vague recollections of A*Men with the lavender played against a large clean patchouli. Patchouli becomes and remains the star till dry down.

While I do see resemblances Egypt is all its own person. Comfortable as an old jumper or T-Shirt yet presentable at dinner and events. Especially good if you are looking for a fragrance that is defiantly unisex. Loaded with traditionally masculine features yet presented in a sweeter, more palatable niche form. Egypt is fun, and nothing like my memories of Egypt.

Seems like Egypt is a good fit across the board. Work, Leisure and Events are all catered within its fragrant parameters. Further, for date night I think it could be an excellent choice. Fragrant but not overpowering, longevity and sillage are good.

Have you tried any of the Eight & Bobs?

Hi, dear! Thanks for writing about this. The line has piqued my interest but in the blitz of so-many new scents and just the craziness of life in general, I’ve done nothing about it. But a-sampling I will go with this. Thanks!!

  • Well at least I have heard of Eight and Bob. If not actually sniffed. The notes do sound interesting tho. I’m still exploring lavender scents. One that really captured my fancy was TF Lavender Palm. Really, really nice. Even more surprising because Tom Ford and I do not get along. Will be hunting down Eight and Bob. Hopefully it will appear on a counter near me.

      Hey Marcella,
Lavender is a wonderful note to follow. So many different ways it can be used. Enjoy the fragrant wanderings it takes you on.

Egypty also has been on my radar for a long while but just keeps getting pushed back on the list. Strange how so many of us are having that same experience. I do not see the brand getting much if any attention on the sites I visit, so maybe it is that lack of advertisement and vocal fan base. Anyway, thanks for bringing this one to the forefront and I will make a concerted effort to seek it out. Nutmeg pleases me and I am still on a cardamom kick.

The notes list is definitely calling me

I had a sample of Eight & Bob Memoires de Mustique that I ended up just LOVING! Way more than I would have expected. That ones a tropical neroli/orange blossom type of scent. I thunked that sample and have been considering getting a decant for a while now.

I haven checked out the rest of the line, this one sounds intriguing

On a long list of brands I haven’t managed to sniff and unless I stumble across them, probably won’t! It’s too hard to keep up. This one sounds interesting, though!

    • Portia says:

      Hi MMKinPA,
You know I was studiously ignoring these guys until a girlfriend hugged me wearing the original. It smelled so good on her that I got a sample, which is excellent but so much better on her.
I don’t think you’ll feel FOMO from missing this crew though.

Eight and Bob has been on my radar for quite a while but I have not sampled their offerings yet. I am hoping that this brand will get to my local Sephora because it does sell at the larger ones. Then I can give the entire line some skin time.
