Savannah’s Heart by Luca Maffei for Olibere Parfums 2017

Hey Posse! A bunch of the Olibere Parfums samples arrived from my mate Jakub. The Olibere line is very modern niche for mass consumption in beautiful, simple bottles. They are the brainchild of filmmaker and traveller Marjorie Olibere. Les Mythiques is a new phase for the brand, leaving behind the Les Essential Collection. Savannah’s Heart was the first fragrance to be released in this collection, there are now four new additions that I’m yet to smell.

Savannah’s Heart by Luca Maffei for Olibere Parfums 2017

Savannah's Heart

Parfumo gives these featured accords:
Top: Bergamot, Rhubarb, Labdanum
Heart: Arabica coffee, Karmawood®
Base: Sandalwood, Musk, Vanilla, Cashmere wood

Resinous labdanum is cut through by a brisk citrus that smells to me like hot rocks and sand. Seriously, there is a feeling of enormity and heat, like walking through central Australia or JEEPing it through an Indian Tiger Reserve in summer. Savanna’s Heart feels dry but not parched. It’s full of the scent of unseen animals and the crackle of dry grass and twigs. The sensation of heat perfectly captured in fragrance.

Various woods sweetened by vanilla dry down. So wearable. Savanna’s Heart is no boundary pushing, weird or freaky geniuses take on fine fragrance. This is scent that will waft lightly around your body (depending on application strength) for a good part of your day. It will tell a short but well crafted story and you will smell good to yourself and others.

I can easily imagine it being a go-to for someone who likes fragrance enough to have a small to medium wardrobe of it. A full blown collective perfumista may not find it different enough to other bottles in their collection that use specific aroma chemicals as their foundation.

Savanna’s Heart is good enough that I am now searching out a decant. A bottle could well be in my future.

This perfume was on my radar a while ago and I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to try it or not. It’s one of those fragrances that probably could go one way or the other for me. Somehow it fell by the wayside. I may try it yet it only because I love peacocks. 😉

I can’t think of a better reason to look for it Maya. I love peacocks too. Except for their terrible cries at night and early morning.

I heard about this one so it’s been on my radar. Coffee in the notes! Also love that it is extrait.

    • Portia says:

      Hey Brigitte,
It doesn’t wear like an extrait. Very diffusive.
There is now a bottle winging its way to me. Very excited.
