Terre de Sarment by Jeanne-Marie Faugier for Frapin

Hi there Posse, Terre de Sarment is one of the early Frapin releases. Having had some sniffing success with Isle of Man earlier in the year I thought it might be nice to check their back catalogue. A while ago the Frapin line were written about and talked about a lot on the blogs and FB pages but it seems the noise has died down a bit in the last couple of years. The sheer volume of new stuff coming through seems to have trampled a lot of the good brands. Thankfully Surrender To Chance has a good selection of their early work so I grabbed a few decants. This week Terre de Sarment grabbed my fancy.

Terre de Sarment Frapin Fragrantica

Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
Top: Grapefruit, neroli, caraway, grapes
Heart: Cinnamon, orange blossom, nutmeg, amyris
Base: Benzoin, myrrh, incense

The sweet fizz of grapefruit soda pop is cut through by a smooth green gloss. Reminiscent of a walk through a greenhouse, lightly earthy, dewy and filled with the joyful growth of plants. Terre de Sarment is so unusual, bringing together the fairy floss and the natural earthiness. I find the combination very exciting. This is less a perfume and more of an adventure. The spices mixed with the resins don’t form a foody scent at all but manage to create more of an ambience of the jungle.

Somehow Jeanne-Marie Foggier has managed to do this weird joining and still keep the fragrance wearable and beautiful.

Totally unisex and better than average longevity. Two spritzes on the back of my hand this morning and I’m still lightly fragrant at dinner. While I am quite fragrant for the first hour the cool greenish smoky dry down is a quiet cloud, noticeable only within close quarters.

Surprised there are so few comments here! I like this line and in particular, love Terre de Sarment as well as Caravelle Epicee. Thanks for the review. : D

      Hey Springpansy,
People must be busy with their lives. I think there’s a decant of Caravelle Epices here somewhere too. I’ll go hunting. thanks for the tip.

I love the original best, 1270. I bought it in the original release, when it was in a beautiful gold-trimmed round disc bottle, a miniature of their actual cognac bottles. Lovely stuff.
