Météorites Le Parfum by Guerlain 2018

Hi there Posse! Guerlain! The house that has meant so much to me over the decades. My first Squirt Bitch job was for a few brands including Guerlain. Where I learned that Shalimar wasn’t the only choice from the house. Mitsouko, Samsara and L’Heure Bleu are the ones I remember. It was Christmas work so there were loads of Gift Packs. Many of you will remember how lavish it all seemed. We had to give a couple of samples with every purchase and big shoppers would get terrific Gift With Purchase stuff. Which brings me to their latest release, Météorites Le Parfum.

Météorites Le Parfum by Guerlain 2018 Parfumo

Parfumo gives these featured accords:
Top: Bergamot, Apple, Green notes
Heart: Rose, Violet
Base: White musk, Woody notes

The opening in an interesting apple, tart and crisp. Like you’re smelling the skin and not the flesh. A clean, fresh, fruit sweet fragrance that would not be out of place i the Aqua Allegoria line. So lovely, it smells like spring. I’m reminded of those Victoria’s Secret body spray colognes in the enormous bottles. Imagine those done with what smells like much more luxurious ingredients.

The apple stays for much longer than expected and could be named as a heart note too. The rose and violet don’t really show themselves for me. It’s a shame because I think they would have added a deeper, more interesting ride. There is something there that could be counted as peony maybe? Basically my wearings become a twiggy green wood backed by fluffy laundry musks.

If you are looking buy something very pretty and obviously of the teen years of the 21st century then Météorites Le Parfum is an excellent choice. With Gift Giving Season upon us so soon I can see thousands of sweet 16s being gifted their first grown up, Guerlain fragrance gift pack. This pretty fragrance will forever become lodged in their hearts as sophisticated and worldly. In 30 years time they, like us, will be searching for vintage bottles to give them a burst of nostalgia and will spend hours searching on eBay and chatting on the fragrance boards about it.

Surrender To Chance has samples from $3/ml

Is there a Guerlain you’re hoping for this holidays?

SQUIRT BITCH — I am screaming! Meteorites sounds meh, but I do love me some old Guerlain.

  • Ann says:

Love this, dear! Thanks for this review (and love that bottle too!). I’m a sucker for apple, since enjoying a gorgeous scent called La Folies Bergere waaay back in the ’80s. Must try this — but too bad Guerlain is not in many department stores anymore in my neck of the woods 🙁 …

I haven’t got this one, but my friend has. I had a spray and really liked it

  • They truly have. I doubt that folks are having as much fun at work as I used to in the late 70’s/early 80’s.

  • Those question marks appeared out of nowhere! I got hacked, lol. They were supposed to be LOLLING faces!

    • Portia says:

That’s what we used to call ourselves Marcella. It was such a fun job, at a time when the perfume companies were generous to staff and customers. Boy how times have changed.

I have a little 30 ml bottle of the vintage Meteorites perfume, have not smelled the current version I hear it’s fruitier.

  • Kathleen says:

Yes! I can picture today’s fragrance loving teens like us 30 years from now! I wish I had had the insight to buy and keep more fragrances from my younger years. If only I knew then what I knew now! I quite enjoyed sniffing this formulation of Meteorites (I missed the original, and I still use the Meteriorites face powder). It’s not full bottle worthy yet for me, other than wondering if I’ll regret that decision when it’s no longer available.

      Hey Kathleen,
Oh yes, 20/20 vision looking backwards.
I’m pretty sure I don’t need a bottle of Meteorites, my 5ml will last me ages.
