Hey, (20)19!!!

yep. I had it. In vinyl.

Let’s be sure to dance together and talk! in the coming year – a lot!  You are very much loved and appreciated by all of us here on the Posse.  Wishing you happiness, health, contentment and all the wonders (the good ones) 2019 can bring!  Here’s some black eyed peas for luck!  My own people put the greens on the side – but I must confess, this looks pretty tasty!

I don’t do resolutions, since I can’t remember when I’ve kept one past 3January!  But it probably isn’t a bad idea to think about the way I’d like to live 19.  Interestingly, it’s pretty much as I try to live every year – with compassion, courage, a bit of humor (okay – a LOT of humor; Life can be trying AF and it’s a good way to get through the weird parts), a love of the people and things I love and a resolve to treat everyone with dignity and respect, even if I am needing to beat the snot outtadem!   But also, because I am Judgemental AF, I resolve to continue to laugh like a lima bean when I ‘profile’ and get hoist on my own petard – and babydolls, you cannot imagine the regularity of that!!!  I channel Ann Richards at the Airport nearly every day – and it keeps me on my judgy-assed toes, lemmetellya.  So…since I keep on with the preconceptions, the least I can do is keep on with the laughing at myself, right?  Right!

And I would like to keep on digging the dirt and planting stuff for my hummingbirds – but letting Nature guide my squirrelly self (I don’t need to always redesign every border…and I really do NOT need more dahlias – okay, that one?  That ain’t Nature, that’s my dahlia lust gone wild! I have 32 new dahlia tubers coming in April. And if you see me with another seed packet, slap it out of my hand!  Yes, I am a Seed Luster/Lusterer/Luster-After.)  But if you’re gonna slap, wait until after 2January – that’s when I place my Floret order.  THEN you can slap!

Ha!  You didn’t really think I was going to keep it serious, did you?

What are your plans for 19?    Tell me and I’ll have The Girl pull a couple of winners – seriously.  I’m in the mood to upend the Messy Armoire and share the bounty!

Happy 2019! My goals this year include eating less sweets, trying to keep my mouth closed more in general, and possibly exploring a new career. On the home and garden side, I need to do some house painting and divide my iris bulbs, and so something about the delphinium bed which has gone to sod. I’ve been housebound due to health conditions for the past few years but am hoping to get out more this year.

Happy New Year! I’m going to have my first day back to work today, and frankly would have loved more time at home.

I plan to continue decluttering in 2019. I’ve decided to give away lots of postcards and used postage stamps to charity, hoping someone can benefit from what I no longer find any use for.

At the end of the month I will have surgery on one ankle and I just know from a similar experience nearly 3 years ago that I will need a lot of help for months, and later intensive rehab, with the goal of literally getting back on my feet (and hopefully wobble less than before the procedure). so this is going to be my focus for the first part of the year. Losing weight is a goal as well, but really depends on how much I manage to move!

Don’t really do new year resolutions, other than the usual: No blind buys of perfume and keeping to a perfume budget, more or less. l have a smallish collection, so no need for a total stop on buying.

Happiest of New Years! Also with you for Hoppin’ John and Steely Dan (my vinyl included Aja!). For 2019, I’m going to eat more fish and try to stay off social media more often.

  • Brigitte says:

Happy New Year! Joining many others in the NO BUY this year…need to enjoy what is already in my collection.

  • RoseMacaroon says:

Lovely post, Musette, as always, so a very big thanks for your presence here. I love black-eyed peas but today had dinner at my friends’, which was vegetarian chilli filled with home-grown veggies (so good). My resolutions are to get back into shape, find a modality/practitioner that actually helps my thoracic outlet challenges, and figure out what direction to take my career in. Much love to the entire community here! I’m wearing Indigo Vanilla by English Voyage Perfumes, it’s a huge favorite of mine.

  • Michelle J Little says:

Happy 2019 Musette and Posse folks! Thank you for all the love, joy, creativity and humor you always share Musette, you are an inspiration. My plans for 2019 are to finish my long worked for degree in biology (I finish in summer) and to focus on healing body and spirit and to practice patience as much as humanly possible for me (I’m going to need some help from my Angel’s, or someone) and to get ready to move from New York to North Carolina. And that’s enough.

  • audesko1 says:

Happy New Year. Making my Hoppin John as we speak! Happy new year to you!

  • Jennifer S says:

Happy New Year! Not really much for resolutions but I should try for more patience which I used to have an abundance of sooo…don’t really know where it all went lately!
And I’ve never had a black eyed pea in my life but that dish looks pretty tasty!

  • Dina C. says:

Happy New Year Posse Peeps! I’ve been falling down this perfume rabbit hole for ten years, and it is still so interesting to me. Always something new or old to sniff or read about. Love all the things you folks share here.

  • Kathleen says:

Happy New Year Musette and all the perfume lovers! I resolve to take one day at a time to make some changes in my life in pursuit of happiness. Compliance is my comfort zone; I’m going to work on changing that.

  • Lemoncake says:

Wishing everyone a happy new year! I just whipped up some black eyed pea salsa – not exactly traditional but still tasty. Musette – can’t wait to see pics of the dahlias – such beautiful flowers and thinking about them makes me happy on this cold winter day.

  • Furriner says:

Happy New Year!! Those black eyed peas sound good! I was just talking about this with a friend yesterday! ‘Tis the season. I hope you have a great year!

  • Shiva-woman says:

I got accepted into the Master Gardener program at UCD, so I’m super excited to learn about soil, plants, xeriscaping, and more. I would and should resolve to buy no more perfumes in 2019, but I know I’ll break that resolution, but I do resolve to enjoy my current stash more. I started the year off with Mira Takla Valle de Rois, and am off to bed with Estate Solstice Scents Rosewood. Sublime.

  • Maya says:

Happy New Year to everyone. May all your wishes come true! And if you cannot laugh at yourself, you’re in big trouble. My resolution is to get more money and buy MORE perfume bottles that are on my list. More samples too. 😉

  • Janet in California says:

Nothing better than perfume and dahlias! My 2 obsessions.
    Happy New Year!

  • Pam says:

Greens with vinegar, yes! My resolutions don’t last long either. But I am resolving to choose kindness this year. The world needs more kindness. Happy New Year, Posse People!

  • Ellen says:

Happy New Year Musette. So many choices: so little money. I must content myself with only samples this year. . I do enjoy reading about what’s out there so please continue. Love the black-eyed peas, by the way. I have my greens with vinegar. You?

  • Tara C says:

Happy new year Musette! I’m aiming for a perfume no-buy in 2019, as 2018 was a year of ridiculous excess. Time to lean in to contentment and gratitude. But that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy the company of all my dear perfume friends! (that’s part of the gratitude)

Thanks for offering this fun space where we can all let our hair down and spritz with wild abandon.
