What’s going on? Share your stash Monday 2019

2019
Happy New Year all you wonderful Posse folks!! So now that the holiday crush is over and the tree, decorations and lights are all put up (well, for some of you – we’re still working on ours), it’s time to share your stash, and also what you’re up to so far in the new year, and what you’ve got planned for the rest of 2019. Do any of you make New Year’s resolutions?

Nothing perfume-related for me, but a bright-red scarf and some fun gift cards were among my goodies. As for resolutions, etc., for 2019, I’m already attempting to rid of clutter (and have found a few fragrant gems that I’d forgotten about — yay!!) and in general, trying to streamline my life. With a high school senior, it’s not easy, but am working on it. We’ll be so happy when all our ducks are in a row regarding college.

What about you? What’s new in your holiday stash? What treasures were you gifted with — or gave to yourself? Because all you kind, generous and thoughtful perfumistas deserve to treat yourselves, too.

What’s the most prized perfume item you got in 2018? Or perhaps there’s a special item you’re planning to get yourself soon? Or what upcoming release in 2019 are you looking forward to sniffing?

This year I did not spend much money on gifts, finally talked family into a Secret Santa kinda Xmas, since we are mature bunch.
I did however buy myself a few trinkets, all perfume related, Black Gold by Ormonde Jayne, Au Coeur Du Desert by Tauer Perfumes and Black No.1 by House of Matriarch…all three were bought blind due to very limited distribution, and all three are stellar, as I expected. I have to point out, I have not purchased a bottle of frag in almost 2 1/2 years, so No Guilt.
This year I will be transitioning from freelance to salary, longer workdays but also higher income, focus on paying all my debt off so that next year the hubby and I can go to a few exotic locales, 2020 will be our 20th anniversary, we need to see the Polynesian Islands.
My only New Year’s resolution is to become vegetarian.
My wish for the New Year is Impeachment. I miss Civility in our Leader.
    Happy New Year Everyone!!!!

My most prized of 2018 was Pink Champagne Truffle by Panah London and Over the Chocolate Shop by 4160 Tuesdays. I’m looking at my new acquisitions and I did purchase 8 in 2018, won 1 in a drawing and acquired 1 by a swap. Not a bad year. I am looking forward to Tyger Tyger which I purchased through Beauty Meow’s Indiegogo to benefit Big Cat Rescue. It’s arriving tomorrow and I’m super excited. I’m traveling to South Florida for spring break and looking forward to going to OSME perfume shop and Big Cat Rescue. I’m a bit of a serial sampler and my goal is to stick to “Testing Tuesday” and the other days of the week wear the fragrances I purchased because I loved them enough to buy them.

Hi, doll! I make no resolutions because SQUIRREL!!! lol! but one of the goals I have is to THINK! before I buy anything else (other than eggs, toilet paper and coffee). Now that I can (mostly) walk again, I am determined to get in as many steps as possible. Taking delight in the everyday.

My favorite discoveries were Les Eaux des Chanel Deauville and Venise, the latter of which my DH got me for Christmas. Likewise decluttering and organizing my house. Looking hard at retirement in a couple of years, pondering what to do with Life Part 2.

Envy, Dina C! Lucky you to be near the boutique and attend events!

My perfume highlight of 2018 was discovering local fragrance boutique Arielle Shoshana near me. I bought Vilhelm Parfumerie’s Don’t Tell Jasmine and Dear Polly. Both have been very happy purchases. Then this fall I went to a wonderful book signing by Luca Turin for his new edition of Perfume The Guide. Also went to a couple other of her special events that Ari hosts throughout the year. She’s a wonderful hostess and full of perfume knowledge. For Christmas, dear husband gifted me with a decant of Dame Narcissus and some other Dame samples. I really like the Honeysuckle so far.

  • Queen Cupcake says:

Working toward a better, healthier lifestyle and de-cluttering my house! Not buying ‘fumes for a while because I have so many samples and decants. I hardly know what I have anymore, so I am determined to *gasp* use them up, rather than just hoarding them (including a decant of original Coty Chypre that I paid $38 for–yikes!).

For 2019, I resolve to use a screen lock on my cell phone. I had left it in a Starbucks restroom, and was very lucky that someone turned it in without invading my privacy. Also, I put an I.C.E. app on my phone: In Case of Emergency. Even when phone is locked, my blood type, email address and emergency contact (in this case, my husband) is visible.

Best wishes to all for 2019! XOXOX

Oooh, now I want to know more about the new Papillon that Tara alludes to above!!! My favorite purchase last year kind of surprised me: a vintage mini-bottle of Rive Gauche. I’m not really a rose person, but I am loving it. I’m going to be at a writing conference in Portland in March, and I’m looking forward to going perfume sniffing with two friends at Fumerie Parfumerie, and maybe splurge on something there.

Reclaiming my health is my new years resolution….exercise, no coffee, no sugar, no alcohol and drink water. I am also on a NO BUY for 2019.
Santa gifted me a travel spray of St. Clair Scents Casablanca.
I also have a senior (my last one- the other two are already at university) and just submitted the last of the college applications yesterday…good grief!

  • Eldarwen22 says:

I treated myself to a backup bottle of Une Rose Vermielle for the last full bottle purchase of 2018. Christmas and New Year’s were low key. The good news is that I actually finished off 2 full bottles last year and hope that I can finish more than two full bottles in 2019.

  • Kathleen says:

December was busy but the holidays beautiful time spent with family and my pups. I had almost two weeks off work! My perfume gift to myself was Blocki This Grand Affair. I am waiting to receive Dioramour from a monetary gift from my workplace.
I’m not one to make New Year resolutions; however, I plan to make one small goal each month to get me closer to where I want to be. This month is to get my resume updated. Seems like a good idea to have it ready if I ever needed it.
Ooh Tara C; a new Papillon! Looking forward to that!

  • Tara C says:

I went hog-wild last year and bought a truckload of fumes, but my favourite is Cèdre Sambac by Hermès. I also got Memo Tiger’s Nest which is making me very happy. I’m on a no-buy for 2019, lots to enjoy. There is one new release I’m anticipating with great excitement by Liz Moores of Papillon Perfumery, she has not announced the name yet but it should be out soon per her facebook post last week. That’s it for me!

  • MMKinPA says:

I got a small bottle of 4160 Tuesdays Eau My Soul, and a set of mini rollerballs from NEST. Have been on a no buy for some time and decided not to ask for anything big this year- focusing on my existing collection.

    Hey there Ann,
Christmas/New Year were excellent around here. Very low key but full of people we love.
I did buy myself a couple of gifts. A bottle each of Neela Vermeire Creations Niral and Oriza Legrand Secret Joly.
On the receiving end of quite a lot of lovely things but the two stand outs were: from Jin a Tiffany & Co Coffee Mug in the blue and white blocks, from BFF Kath the pair of Tiffany & Co Ceramic Paper Cups that I listed as desirous in my Perfume Posse 2018 Giving Guide. http://perfumeposse.com/2018/12/13/holiday-giving-2018/
Who knew she read my weekly Posse pieces? Very happy surprise.
    Portia xx
