Mitzah by DIOR

Hey there Perfume Posse! What’s new with you? I have recently grabbed out of the collection my bottle of Mitzah. It’s been hiding away because I’ve been to scared to use it since it was basically DCd. They still make a limited number of 250ml bottles each year and ONLY sell it in Paris. Bastards! So instead of enjoying it to the max I’ve been hoarding it away, even though I do have a 250ml backup bottle as well. Yes, sad frag hoarder here. Well, no more. Mitzah is back on my favourites tray and getting some skin action.

Mitzah by DIOR 2010

Perfume gives these featured accords:
Spices, Honey, Coriander, Labdanum, Patchouli, Rose, Frankincense, Cinnamon

Matzah is about as close to fragrant perfection for me as is possible. I understand the parts and makings of it, the ingredient list, smelled most bits solo. Mitzah transcends its parts to become something more grand and luscious than could ever have been expected. An amber but an unexpected one. Sweetened with honey, labdanum and a dry patchouli. The rose is crisp and lightly spiced. Smoky incense and the fiery sizzle of cinnamon and other spices. Even the smooth green herbal wash of coriander, that serves to bind the whole into a cohesive fragrance. Personally, I think we are missing a few notes here, vanilla, musk and some white flowers all seem to be in the mix.

What it really smells like though is expensive. Somehow, François Demachy has created an olfactory masterpiece with these tried and true old bits and pieces.

When I spritz Mitzah I am sent on a journey. I’m a movie star at a premier, a bedouin crossing the desert, a trophy bride at a charity gala and any number of unlikely amazing things. Every time the ride and dream are different but always the lightly animalic amber and smoky incense. An amber for all seasons and sexes, universal.

Did you ever get to try Mitzah?

Yes, yes, yes!! I’m nodding my head off to every word of your post! I’m a bit of hoarder, too, but do try several times each winter to wear some of this gorgeous scent. Sure wish they would make it easier to get, though.

  • Musette says:

Holy snakes and cabbage! You are a SIREN! I just went through the Messy Armoire (omg) and…well, I remember having Mitzah – but it doesn’t look as if I haz it now – but I don’t remember it having nearly the same effect on me as it does on you – then again, I’m not much for the amber/vanilla/spices crowd.

But! I sure do love how it works for you!!!

I’ve not sampled Mitzah either. The notes sound like perfection to me as well!

  • Eldarwen22 says:

I have not smelled Mitzah and I hopped over to STC and TPC and they don’t have decants to give. I just love it when perfume houses make their perfumes hard to find. I’m still a little annoyed at Chanel having a fit over STC and TPC selling decants. I don’t have botiques anywhere near me to test a lot of stuff.

  • Tara C says:

I have two big bottles of it, hoping I never run out!! I am going to wear it today since you reminded me of it. It’s 5C with a glacial wind. Should hopefully keep me warm.

  • MMKinPA says:

I have a decant from a split and love it. Using it sparingly but I should probably just enjoy it while I have it and say a fond goodbye when it’s gone.

  • Brigitte says:

I have thunked a few Decants and agree it’s gorgeous!

  • Shiva-woman says:

I’ve heard of the legendary Mitzah, but never got to try it, and after your review I’m hoping that STC has samples of this. No wonder you hoard it.

  • Matty says:

No, I’ve never got to smell Mitzah.
