Bleu Turquoise by Armani Privé

Hello Perfumed Posse People! Bleu Turquoise arrived in my latest Surrender To Chance order. I really love a few of the Armani Privé fragrances, Cuir Amethyste is a staple on my favourites tray. I was totally bummed when they DCd Bois d’Encens before I grabbed a bottle. Those hefty bottles with the rocks as lids get me every time. So cool and classy. I really love picking it up and giving myself lavish spritzes.

Parfumo gives these featured accords:
Top: Salty accord, Frankincense, Black pepper
Heart: Indian jasmine absolute, Ylang-ylang, Cypriol
Base: Sandalwood, Vanilla, Moss

It seems this season I have gone batshit crazy for salty accords, aquatics and ozonics. While liking them since the 1990s and always having a bottle of L’Eau d’Issey PH around it never struck me as a genre that could move me. Clearly I was wrong. It’s starting to really get me going. Grabbing my card and/or throwing down cash.

Bleu Turquoise, one of my favourite colours and a wonderful, evocative name for fragrance. It sounds like the sea on a warm sunny day in the Greek Islands. It sounds like summer. Holidays, freedom, beauty and lazy days eating lunches and looking out over Bleu Turquoise waters.

The fragrance opens cool and salty like licking the ri of a margarita. The pepper is crisp and raspy, creating an interesting contrast. It’s not till the heart that I really smell the incense. Cold, unlit incense sticks and a very clean jasmine. Cypriol is also known as nagamotha, it’s a spicy grass scent, like torn leaves and fresh cut chilli.

I love that they have used a moss accord in the base. I never would have picked it as such but when it’s in the notes list it makes excellent sense. It and the cypriot are the stars of the show on my skin and wear well into the depths of dry down.

If you want a green summer scent that is more herbal shrubbery than the usual galbanum ride then Bleu Turquoise would be an excellent choice.

Have any of the Armani Privé scents moved you?

What a lovely bottle! Sadly I’m not really in a position to buy for the bottle alone, and the notes don’t really fit me, I think.

    • Portia says:

Oh yes, the bottle is gorgeous Ingeborg and no, I agree, a bit out of the price range if it’s only to be an ornament.

Amethyste is stunning but waaay beyond my pay grade (which is hysterical, as I plumped for bottles of Jub25, Gold and Beloved with nary a wince) – I remember, though, the utter surprise at the complex (without being overdone) beauty of Amethyste.

I’ve always wanted to love salty scents – seems so…intriguing… alas, the only one that comes close to working for me is the vaguely salty Ambre Grisea – and that, I can only wear in Autumn.

Whaty’all doin’? Are you still honeymooning? Where are you now? I know this was to be a LONG trip but I can’t remember where you are in the itinerary. Wherever you are, hope you are having wonderful and safe times!

      Hey Musette,
Salt is an interesting perfume note. Very polarising.
We are currently in Ulanbaataar, Mongolia. We have visited a Yak Farm! It was so much fun and a real highlight. I seriously want a Yak now.
Thanks gorgeous, Love you so much.

Oooooh, pretty! I’ll have to try that one. I love love love everything about Vert Malachite except the price! I also like my sample of Iris Celadon (I think that’s a Privé scent?).

If you’re enjoying salty scents, have you tried Zoologist’s new Dodo? It has a really nice salty ambergris accord, with lychee and woodsy notes.
