SOTD 17.4.2020

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else SOTD choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and Perfume Posse people love to chat. We like to keep it fragrant but there’s always room for life events and adventures too. This is our place to share how we smell, live, love, eat, work, raise kids and pets and get on with the business of living.

Perfume Posse SOTD

SOTD 17.4.2020

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz. Whenever you feel the mood take you, share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at Perfume Posse, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your SOTD comment. Then you can reply to them, and so on.

Go To It Crew.

Started out in some Hawaiian Tropic factor 20. Later on in S&B White Peaches. Yum, lickable.

  • Portia says:

Today I’ve been wafting around, cleaning the house and walking the dogs in L’Eau Bleue d’Issey pour Homme. Breathtaking amounts of it!
I’m a cold autumn beach with foamy breakers and an onshore breeze.
    Portia xx

  • Portia says:

Sorry I’ve not been around. No excuse, just doing other stuff.
Tonight I’m in vintage Hermès Caleche EdT. and it’s fabulous. Only 5 sprays but these older girls are fairly BIG!
    Portia xx

  • Cassieflower says:

Fidji. My old bottle hasn’t got the newer fixed spritz. I just hold my finger on it and do a continuous spray for however long I feel like. A great way to drain a bottle for sure.

    • Portia says:

      Woo Hoo for Fidji.
There’s an old extract around here somewhere. I haven’t worn it in ages. SO GOOD! Thanks for the reminder.

Messing around home today as I’m on reduced hours. Givenchy Gentleman kept me company. Perfect companion. Finished watching the New Pope – loved loved it. Didn’t always get the politics but the scenery, churches and villas were the best. And in true Mel fashion I started a new knitting project even though I have a dozen other unfinished!

  • cassieflower says:

I’m starting to think I might need to start bathing in perfume to make a dent in it all. I had a moment the other day when I stopped and thought to myself OMG this is crazy ass shite. I’m never going to live to be over 100. Even then it might not be long enough. A sure sign that I have too much time on my hands eh?

    • Melanie says:

No need to bathe in it Cassieflower, go Brigitte style and spray more. I want to smell ya from here xx. And you smell delightful in Bottega Veneta xx

  • cassieflower says:

Bottega Veneta. Several sprays this morning. Then several more at lunchtime.

  • Melanie says:

Sorting through a sample box and found Amouage Reflections Man for today.

  • Melanie says:

Oliver by Strangers Parfumerie for me today. A beautiful, citrus, woodsy linen scent. On a warmer day, I think this would be even better. Super citrusy at the start but after a while it’s a delightful soft linen/powder scent on me. Very unlike my usual choices. Hanging out for LKNU’s next sale so I can add a bottle of this to my collection.

    • Portia says:

Strangers Parfumerie is getting a LOT of love lately Melanie. I think an investigation must be launched.
      Portia xx

      • Melanie says:

Investigate away Portia – they have some really interesting scents, & another range called Prissana thats super interesting too xx
(i got my samples from LKNU)

  • Maya says:

Rogue Perfumery Jasmin Antique from a sample. This is pretty much a soliflore, a very lovely uplifting one. I wouldn’t mind owning a small bottle.

    • Portia says:

OOOOH! Sounds lovely Maya. Is it soapy, indolic, clean or fresh jasmine?
      Portia xx

      • Maya says:

It smells like real jasmine blossoms with the blooms in various stages so it is indolic but also a bit fresh. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles some perfumes have and doesn’t need them. It’s a stand-alone beauty. I think you and any jasmine lover would really like it. I’m apparently not alone in my opinion. Luckyscent just got it in and they’re already sold out and Rogue is not even listing it on their site right now.

        • Portia says:

WOW! Sold Out is a ringing endorsement.
I do love a jasmine soliflor. There’s Nuda and SMN Triple Distilled Jasmine here. YUM!
          Portia xx

  • SonomaVelvet says:

At last I can say I’m wearing Brigitte amounts of something. I would say easily 20 sprays, 10 a couple of hours ago and now another 10 all over my other side of Guerlain’s AA Passiflora. Yummy not too bitter grapefruit to go with a gorgeous sunny spring day. I smell light cool and refreshing and HOW!!!!!

  • cassieflower says:

Atelier Café Tuberosa. So rich and gorgeous.

    • Portia says:

      LOVE Café Tuberosa Casieflower,
What a fabulously flamboyant fragrance. Nothing else I have is quite like it.
      Portia x

  • Portia says:

I just had a boiling hot bubble bath and am drenched in Brigitte amounts of Figment Woman by Amouage. What a sweet, strange bird it is.
    Portia xx

  • Melanie says:

    More Adam Levine here today.
Am doing some mixes so have introduced him to SJP Stash left arm, Coach Rose on the right. Stash mix working well. Blending nicely, Coach overpowers, but i’m not fussed as I love this discontinued Coach scent. I have a decant that’s been slowly leaking so figure I best use it up.

  • SonomaVelvet says:

Lys 41 today. Actually left the house today to go for groceries and realized I had forgotten to put on perfume… How could I have forgotten? crazy. So went with the most interesting thing I could find in my purse.

  • Cassieflower says:

Cartier Baiser Fou. Countless sprays. Gonna spray myself into a stupor before all this social distancing is done. It’s not like I haven’t got enough perfume to spray. We should all go mad with the sprayer finger. Spray Yourself Silly.

    • SonomaVelvet says:

I love Baiser Vole but have never tried Baiser Fou, are they similar?

      • cassieflower says:

Not at all, I would say. Fou is more like a lipstick floral with white chocolate. Of the two I would prefer Baiser Vole.

        • Portia says:

Um, lipstick floral with white chocolate? Sounds freaking wonderful.

I am practicing what you preach and wearing enormous amounts of everything. Brigitte has a LOT to answer for.
          Portia xx

  • Maya says:

Amouage Lyric Woman from head to toe after a wonderful bath. Finished up my decant and am getting a bottle.

    • Portia says:

      YAY for Maya.
First for the bath! Isn’t it blissful, and so time luxurious?
Second for a reason to buy a FULL BOTTLE! Lyric is lovely. You smell beautiful.
      Portia xx

  • SonomaVelvet says:

I’m wearing my namesake today. A long time love SSS Velvet Rose. It smells exactly like rose to me, not spicy or patchouli or minty or jammy, just smells like I stuck my nose in a big blousy garden rose on a warm summer day. It’s quite strong and because I’m feeling a little crazy I’ve got about 5 sprays (a lot of this one in my opinion) of Dior addict on the other side. I think I smell amazing of course and I’ll never know what anyone else would think because…..physical distancing. I can kind of guess because whenever I wear even discreet amounts of either of these and get in close with people, they usually exclaim with pleasure when they smell me.

    • Portia says:

Woo Hoo for wearing ALL THE PERFUME Sonomavelvet.
I do love rose as a perfume note. MMMM
      Portia xx

      • lee says:

I read on a blog the other day that wearing quote “too much” perfume over 50 is a big no-no and” denotes a distinct lack of class..” Well, call me trashy, but I’ve always been a drencher, and ain’t about to stop now, tho I’m waaay past 60.. interested to hear what other PP people think, should I be more restrained? Wearing Gabrielle today, so pretty..

  • Portia says:

Wearing 21 sprays of CdG Blackpepper. This 10ml decant is now THUNKED!
Holy Moly Brigitte, you have me coruscating with fragrance.
    Portia xx

  • Melanie says:

Fluffing around like the biggest fluffer today – I should already be out doing essential errands, yet here I am fluffing around, doing everything except the things I need to.
Wearing Brigitte amounts of Adam Levine for Her taking up March’s Another Chance assignment.
Matty – thinking of you today and sending big hugs to you as I think you like this scent too xx

    • SonomaVelvet says:

I love that…. ‘Brigitte amounts’ Perfect term, and I’ve been doing it too.

    • Portia says:

      HA! Melanie,
Whenever I see the word fluffed it takes me straight to the porn industry. HA HA HA HA HA!
Adam Levine for Women! Love it. Smells fab and comes in a perfect microphone for singing along in the lounge room.
      Portia xx

    • Cassieflower says:

Melanie it’s the law that we must wear Adam Levine all over us. As much as we can. No limits.

    • Cassieflower says:

And errr, just what, or who were you fluffing?

  • rosarita313 says:

Les Nereides Patchouli Antique on a cold snowy day, boo. Tomorrow is supposed to be much warmer with sunshine, yay. I’m with Portia, in hibernation mode.

  • Neva says:

I’ve realized that I’m actually slowly getting used to living in isolation…who’d have thought? Of course I miss huge crowds of friends and parties but somehow I’ve found peace in this strange solitude.
Wearing Sublime Balkiss from The Different Company during the past few days. It is so wonderful that I’m almost done with my bottle which I bought one year ago. I think I’ll repurchase it very soon.
Portia, it’s thank’s to your review on APJ some time ago that I’ve tried it and I got hooked immediately. Thank you 🙂

    • Portia says:

      WOW Neva,
Thanks for the enabler pin. I love Sublime Balkiss too. thanks for the reminder, I’ll grab mine out for a wear.
      Portia xx

  • Josephine says:

A vintage bottle of Ralph Lauren Safari (women). The world is anxious and awful and I wore this for my two week horse safari in South Africa two years ago. So it is my go to when I need to be elsewhere.

  • Dina C. says:

I’m wearing LL Iris 39 today. I think I chose it because I’m wearing a green top, dark green cardigan and jade jewelry. All the deep green patchouli in the scent seemed to “match” in my synesthesia brain. 🙂

  • March says:

I’m tacky as all hell this week and have been wearing my cheapo LE Pacifica something-or-others…. Breath Taking, which is mainly cardamom, and Dream State (lemon and jasmine). Both really pretty and uncomplicated.

    • Portia says:

      Wow March,
Breath Taking sounds like it might be fabulous. Great note list: Cardamom, Vanilla, Pepper, Spices. It’s calling my name loudly.
      Portia xx

    • Brigitte says:

Are Pacifica perfumes considered tacky? I guess I have to turn in my perfumista card of 52 years LOL. I have a substantial number of Pacifica bottles in my house and I love them to pieces. They are also quite affordable. Tibetan Mountain Temple is one of my favorite.

      • March says:

Brigitte, I should have worded that differently! These two scents are in the part of the line that’s kinda woo-woo with those names that make me giggle. But I LOVE both of them and also have a number of their original line – the incense, blood orange, gardenia, etc. Tibetan Mountain Temple was my first love and I am realizing w horror that it’s not on their website any more.

      • Cassieflower says:

Brigitte. Tacky. OMG where are all the emojis when I need them? lmao, haha haha

  • filomena813 says:

My scent of the day is Dusita’s Erawan.

  • matty1649 says:

Lockdown is really getting to me now. I will cheer myself up with either Isolence or L’Instant X

    • Portia says:

      Sorry to read it Matty,
What did you end up spritzing?
      Portia xx

    • rosarita313 says:

The quarantine causes a whole range of feelings, doesn’t it? Hang in there matty1649, you’re not alone. Let us know what perfume you chose and if it helped.

    • SonomaVelvet says:

I feel you Matty, it goes up and down with me, sometimes I feel fine and sometimes I just feel like I would do anything to get out and gather with people and laugh and love and do what we do. Walks outside help, and catching up digitally. It’s not the same, but it does help I find.

    • Cassieflower says:

Here’s a great big HUG Matty

  • Caryn says:

An oldie but a firm favourite of mine is today’s choice … “Cristalle Eau Verte” by Chanel

    • March says:

I’ve been wearing this as well! One of the few Chanels I own, I love them in theory but never really want to wear them, especially original Cristalle. The Eau Verte, though, is perfect for me, especially in warmer weather.

      • Caryn says:

Ys I am in Australia and we are just leaving our warmer weather behind so I will be going to other favourites very soon. I agree with you, Cristalle Eau Vert is my favourite Spring/Summer scent and the scent is unforgettable.

    • Dina C. says:

I adore this scent: it’s in my top two summer scents of all time, and I wouldn’t know how to get through summer without it! You smell amazing! Since I know you guys are wondering, the other one is Dior Escale a Portofino. 🙂

      • Neva says:

Dina both Chanels that you’ve mentioned are my favourites too. When I buy them for the summer, I always use up the whole bottle.

  • April says:

Curfew is fab time for sampling, today I’m sampling
Atelier des Ors-Larmes Du Desert and I want to bathe in it so I’d say it’s a love.

  • Portia says:

Spent most of today sleeping. It’s like my body needed a day of hibernation.
Wearing Nuit Etoilee by Annick Goutal this evening but going for a bath soon so there will be a change.

  • Tanja says:

Ups, am I the first? I put on SJP Lovely Sheer, perfect for spring.
