SOTD 12.6.2020

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else SOTD choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and Perfume Posse people love to chat. We like to keep it fragrant but there’s always room for life events and adventures too. This is our place to share how we smell, live, love, eat, work, raise kids and pets and get on with the business of living.

Perfume Posse SOTD

SOTD 12.6.2020

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz. Whenever you feel the mood take you, share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at Perfume Posse, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your SOTD comment. Then you can reply to them, and so on.

Go To It Crew.

Last week I’ve sprayed Nishane’s Wulong Cha on a blotter and the wonderful tea smell kept haunting me for days…and suddenly I remembered – Lancome’s AromaTonic! They are so similar! I’m happy that I’ve found a good replacement, since AromaTonic is discontinued. Wulong Cha will be my next full bottle purchase when I start earning normally again 🙂

  • Portia says:

    MORE Guerlain AA Tiare Mimosa.
This stuff is freaking gorgeous. Why don’t I wear it ALL THE TIME?

  • Melanie says:

Giorgio Armani Diamonds will see me out today and then finally, thunk it goes.

  • Portia says:

    It’s 2.30am.
I’ve been reading and am not sleepy at all.
Spritzed large amounts of Guerlain AA Tiare Mimosa. Sparkling white floral glamour.

Wearing my sample of 4160 Tues. Rome 1963 today. To me, best way I can describe it is an almost burnt orange toffee, or a creamy candied orange, not sweet but almost burnt. Super interesting. Wish it would last a little longer on my skin. Tired a few from this house but they don’t stick so well. Have a sample of Doe in the Snow which I read today will work well in the heat.

  • Portia says:

SORRY! I haven’t been back to chat.
It seems I’m back to work in July and I have SO MANY people I wanted to catch up with so this week has been a whirlwind of fun social engagements.
Jin and I also took a day to get some of my list of fixings done around the house.
Perfume has been a really fabulous mix of Wazambe by Parfum d’Empire, Shalimar and Habit Rouge L’Eau by Guerlain, Coco EdP and LE LION de CHANEL.
Malle’s Rose et Cuir has also seen some skin time. I love it but it is a very weird little fish.

    • Neva says:

Social life makes one feel alive. Of course you must not ignore it. I’m glad you enjoyed socializing with friends.
Rose et Cuir is very intense. I can’t wear it two days in a row. I have a travel spray and I’m actually happy I didn’t buy a bigger bottle.

  • Ariel says:

I’m loving Sonoma Scent Studio’s Amber Noir today. It’s been chilly, rainy, windy, and full of baking, making stock, and prepping all the meals with a kid underfoot. I’m going to sleep so well tonight all wrapped up in labdanum and cedar.

    LL Coral Flower.

  • Melanie says:

Enjoying my Lovers Complain, by Shakespeare Perfumes.
All juniper berries and leather, all in a stunning bottle.

    • Portia says:

Those Shakespeare Perfumes are blockbusters aren’t they? I love how big and rambunctious they are. Hefty bottles too.

Wearing Vanitas from Profumum today— and it is suddenly super delicious on me! Sugary vanilla! Almost a dark rum undercurrent. It can take ten applications sometimes before I can start to decipher a scent. Late bloomer, as always 🙂

  • Ingeborg says:

We have very warm weather for early summer, 26C. Going to bed in Dior Escale à Pondichery (an accent or two missing here I think, cannot be bothered to check right now). This one is so good when it is really warm, a bit of tea and lots of citrus.

  • Cassieflower says:

Montale Intense Tiare, suits the muggy weather.

    • Portia says:

OOOOH! I’ve often wondered about this one Cassieflower,
      Can you describe its arc?
      Portia xx

      • Cassieflower says:

I find it to be very linear. Beachy Monoi, coconut and vanilla. It’s certainly sweet but in a way I like. Not quite a sunscreen oil smell but in the ballpark. Great longevity, like the other Montales I’ve tried.

  • Carolyn says:

Testing some of the Memo leathers today. Currently wearing Oriental Leather and Moroccan Leather. The later is bringing back scent memories of the Moroccan leather handbags every teen/20-something I knew was using in 70’s/early 80’s. Smells exactly like my handbag did.

    • Melanie says:

Hello Carolyn, I’m in love with Memo Irish Leather. Managed to find a few samples so I could sniff them. Trying not to like them too much as they a rather out of my budget but they are really good. Have read good things about African Leather too.

    • Maya says:

Have you been able to try MEMO African Rose? I’m into roses lately and was curious about this one. The price is insane though.

    • Portia says:

      Hey Carolyn,
I currently have samples of Tigers Nest and Moroccan Leather on my desk. LOVE Tigers Nest but haven’t tried the leather yet.
      Thanks for the push.

  • Melanie says:

Really enjoying my sample of ELDO Fat Electrician. Think I will need to add this one to the collection.

  • Cassieflower says:

Drenched myself in Terracotta. And a few hours later did it again.

  • Neva says:

Oltremare by Bois 1920 today. It feels like a soft breeze during a walk at the coastside, fresh and herbal.

  • Portia says:

Found a bottle of Encens Flamboyant by Annick Goutal in the collection. I have no memory of buying it. Hilarious because it’s on my To Buy List.
So much cold, charred, incense and soft woods.

  • Ariel says:

At the Oregon coast with Ensar Oud’s EO No. 2…I don’t love this nearly as much as I loved EO No. 1—but no surprise. I’m quite picky about rose scents. Walked the beach today with my husband, daughter, and best friend. We all breathed a great sigh of relief and I just do not want leave- first time we haven’t had to be constantly vigilant outside our homes in over three months.

  • Melanie says:

I’m a bit out of sorts. Got some new samples during the week and I’m just not loving anything so far. Wanted to like the Gallivant scents but they just don’t last on my skin. Lovely balanced scents but they didn’t need last. Not loving the Carner Barcelona scents I picked either. So probably best to go with some others I’ve already tried and know so I’ve picked out ELDO’s Putain des Palaces, Cologne and Remarkable People. Possibly a bit much all at once, spread out over wrists and neck, but who cares!
I’m off to bake a cake and cheer myself up.

    • Portia says:

Hold onto those Carner samples Melanie. You’ll come back to them on a different day and really like them, I think you will anyway.
      Portia x

      • Melanie says:

Thanks Portia. Carner Cuirs and Latin Lover are proving more likeable. And my cake turned out super dooper so feeling better xx

    • Ariel says:

That sounds like an excellent way to cheer yourself up!

    • Rosemary says:

Putain de Palaces is one of my go-to faves, any time I wanna feel sexy, carefree, joyous …i love it!

  • NancyC says:

4160 Tuesdays Tokyo Spring Blossom this morning. It faded, so I added ~12 sprays of 4711 Mandarine & Cardamom.

  • Maya says:

Heeley Hippie Rose – a pretty rose and a lovely hippie – oops, I mean patchouli. 😉 I like several Heeley perfumes but Hippie Rose is my favorite.

    • Portia says:

HA! Are, or were, you a hippie Maya?
Heeley does nice stuff. I’ve got Esprit Tiger and Cuir Plein Fleur. SO good.
      Portia xx

    • Neva says:

I bought a bottle of Hippie Rose for the summer. It’s also my favorite from Heeley’s line. Glad that there are more fans of it around 🙂

    Jour d’Hermès. Haven’t worn it in ???

    • Neva says:

It’s such a pretty scent. I don’t wear it often but it brightens up my day every time i do.

  • Neva says:

I got my decant of Amouage Bracken Woman so it’s my SOTD. Such a powerful perfume!
