Diptyque Biscuit

Hope Thanksgiving was lovely for those who celebrated.

The past week was difficult. Not something I really want to write about but has left me exhausted and drained. So, a short post today.

I know I had said I wouldn’t add to my candles this holiday season, but I had to replace a skincare product that I was running out of, and it was deeply discounted for black Friday. I wasn’t planning on buying anything else in the silly sales, but then I thought ‘oh, what can a throw in given the discounts?’

Lo and behold, the online shop still had stock of the small Diptyque Xmas special edition of the Biscuit candle (someone commented about how good this is on a post, but I couldn’t find the comment again to give them credit for getting it into my head), so into the basket it went.

Diptyque calls it a holiday pastry fragrance which feels about right. Biscuit, patchouli and cinnamon. Really scrumptious, but not headache-inducingly sweet (apologies for the poor pic).

It arrived a couple of days ago, I smelled it and immediately put it aside (along with the sample of Byredo Mumbai Noise off eBay) as for the past few days I simply haven’t had the head space to pay attention.

In any case I opened again this morning it and huge sigh. That is lovely. Perfect for the season and different from the spice and leather candles I already have.

The presentation is pretty too. Always good to have pretty.

So, did you tell yourself no black Friday at all or indulge (even in a small way)?

English ‘biscuit’, rather than American ‘biscuit’ – always have to think about that 😉

I bought groceries. That’s about it. Oh, and I got my booster (which kicked my AZZZ!!). I just can’t with the BF sales.

Hope whatever’s got you down rights itself. xoxoxo

Yeah, yeah, sweet things, cookies. As France is closer to here, yeah? Speaking of cookies, one thing I do miss about my former home is Entemenn’s (spelled wrong) choc chip cookies. Oh, and their chocolate covered donuts. Oh my.

Have not bought a THING, sales like that give me hives, too much pressure. I’ve been doing some hand-mending/altering of old clothes, which has been fun. Something I never felt I had time/skill to do (vintage buttons and trim, etc. via Etsy) so I am learning as I go, I guess that’s my splurge. That candle does sound lovely though!

I had thought I wouldn’t indulge at all and then the email about the skincare popped up. I can sew … barely. My mother tried to teach me to crochet. Couldn’t get the hang of that. There are a number of really good second hand clothing shops in the ‘big’ town near here but that’s become such a ‘thing’ that they are pricey.

My BF purchases were highly practical, no scented pretties this time. We’re having a bathroom remodeled in the New Year. It was gutted a couple years ago, and now we’re finally getting it fixed up. (It’s a tiny basement bathroom.) So I bought a toilet, faucet, and other fixtures. Everyone I know has been doing home remodeling since they’ve been stuck at home during lockdown. Your new Biscuit candle sounds mouthwatering. I’m glad you were able to add it to your order, Cinnamon!

    • cinnamon says:

Indeed, remodelling (moving to country here) seems to be a thing. I guess some kind of change is needed to keep us focused. Tx on candle. I am really looking forward to lighting it over the hols.

Woo Hoo on your candle Cinnamon. It looks very pretty. Diptyque does lovely candle fragrances.
Not sure what’s wrong with me but I didn’t buy anything in the BF sales. We even had two rival Oz niche distributors doing 20% off and free shipping.
There is PLENTY on the list of want but I just couldn’t muster myself, even though the spamming across email and all socials was super heavy.

I think in general these types of sales are really off-putting. smaller retailers who really can’t afford to discount feel they have to participate. And oh yes the amount of shit coming through the email and on social media. The candle is wonderful — I’m glad I did that along with the skincare (which actually was deeply discounted).

I snagged a great deal on some BBW products, and bought a pair of sneakers that kinda look like shoes if you squint. I also alerted my family to some sales going on for items on my Christmas list, which they asked me to do this year (apparently they’re tired of “Sephora gift card”)

    • cinnamon says:

Am always in search of sneakers that look ‘appropriate’. Tend to buy Converse all stars. That’s a nice idea on the Xmas list but if we actually had Sephoras here I’d love gift cards. Definitely not boring.

  • Alityke says:

I have been good (so far) but depending on the snow & gales in this bit of the UK, I might pop out tomorrow. Not for anything scented but a laptop & a Kitchenaid!

    • cinnamon says:

Hope all ok with your weather. How far north are you? We had heavy rain/gross rainy snow and gales but not much damage that I could see. Oh, laptop, wow. I have a Kitchenaid stand mixer which I adore.

I indulged a little bit with the Bath and Body Works sale. Most of them were stocking stuffers but bought 3 candles for myself. I am more of waiting for Cyber Monday to see what deals I can find at Amazon and Ulta. Then I will wait before I go spending frivolously.

I got Biscuit too, it’s delicious! And I indulged in a big way for black friday. Just waiting for the boxes to start rolling in! I’m planning on a no-buy next year so I bought everything I wanted this year. LOL.

    • cinnamon says:

It may have been your comment I was referring to. After having said this was my only order I did get a load of wood from the company that is careful with its sourcing. Enjoy opening all the boxes.
