Busy Busy Holidays!

Art: A Fairy Under Starry Skies by Luis Falero, 19th century

Well, okay, it has been a bit of a while. This is such a crazy busy time of year in all my business and work, and this year has been the worst yet. Doing overnight forums in Poland and a bazillion graduations, and sports and on and on. I have four more days of the crazy busy to get through, and then my schedule finally breathes!  Then it is the holiday when some of my schedule takes a nice, sweet nap.  My mom gets here this Saturday for a nice long visit, and we can sit around and nap and bake bread.

Oh, whine, whine, whine. I feel grateful for my work, but it is a little crazy right now, and there has been very little time to play in perfume. I did find this one little crazy thing that surprised me. I generally have found that the Alkemia indie perfume suit me a lot, they have something for everyone, are well made, easy to wear with a lot of variety.  When I got Hellcat, I was thinking it would be this mild little sweetish slightly animalic thing.   Black Oud, Black Musk, Labdanum, and spiced Pipe Tobacco blended with a seductive purr of Black Opium.  There is this sweetness, pipe tobacco, and I’m thinking, yeah, that’s what I thought it would be. Then this skank crawls out from beneath the pipe and growls.  It’s NOT the skankiest thing I’ve smelled but it has been one that is an interesting journey.

Hopefully next week I’ll have something a little more substantial when I can breathe!  Hope all of you are having a much more relaxing holiday season than I am, and I’ll be joining you in that relaxation soon!

Give your mom a squeeze for me! You know I didn’t think about it (duh) but with so many ongoing virtual events, of COURSE you’d be crazy busy! I hope you get some lovely down time hanging out with your family. Xo

I like the Alkemia scents that I have tried: Burning Roses, Enheduanna, Verdigris, As Dark Things Are Meant to be Loved ( Lapsang Souchong tea, leather, black amber, labdanum, and caramel!), Club des Hashichinns, Ambre Extrait and Gifts of the Magi. None of these are skanky but they are superbly blended and all interesting, if not gorgeous.
