Post postponed

It’s my turn, but my tennis elbow is such that typing is very painful. I did ask one of my servants to do it for me, but they’re busy with all the other labours I’ve ascribed them – full body waxing, shiatsu massage, cold compress preparation, pedicure etc. And they know nothing, NOTHING I tell you, about perfume, the schlubs. So I’m left to type these words.

Sorry for the typing fail, injury win.

I’m wearing – l’homme de coeur by Divine – the perfect transition scent. How about you?

  • carter says:

Oh Lee, my little pickle! Can’t you peck out a few sentences with your tongue? I bet you’d be a natural >:p^:)^ Hope you and your joint bounce back soon, darling:x

Me, I’m wafting vintage Chamade extrait at the moment.

  • Neil says:

Keep popping those painkillers…It’s a day of Miel De Bois for me…Love the stuff…Love your blog too…X

  • violetnoir says:

Ow! I hope you fell better soon, Lee.

    Hugs!

  • maggiecat says:

Ouchers! Tennis elbow hurts – do take care. I’m wearing Coach’s Freesia splash, a good scent to hlep build a fence with, it turns out (except for the 2×4 that fell on my hand, which is kinda swollen now…it seems to be an ouchy weekend for perfumistas!)

  • Lilybug says:

Finally trying my Tea for Two sample. It’s either love or hate… but which? Is it possible to really feel repelled and smitten at once?

Yesterday I made the mistake of applying Youth Dew over hours-old Black Cashmere. It was horrid! Never have I had such misfortune layering but I probably should have thought about it more in the first place. Anyway, in case anyone is tempted (and as a stranger once shouted from a mobile van as I kissed my husband in a patent PDA), don’t do it! Don’t go there!

  • monkeytoe says:

I am sorry that your elbow is on the fritz. I hope they get it up on blocks in the shop and get you fixed up fast-like.

I am wearing vintage Le Dix parfum and I smell divine. My scent day started with some Jacomo Anthracite pour Homme, followed by a spritz or two of Eau de Coq after the afternoon gym shower and now I am luxuriating in the above mentioned Balenciaga.

  • Flora says:

    OUCH, Lee, please heal soon!

I am wearing a crazy little vintage Avon scent called Hana Gasa – it was my very first perfume zillions of years ago when I was still in the single digits, and I found a perfectly pristine sealed bottle on eBay a while ago – and I still love it! 🙂

  • maidenbliss says:

Winifrieda! Is that price right on TPC for the tiniest sample? Oh, how does it smell? Probably worth every single cent.

    • Winifreida says:

yep and I paid it after lemming this so badly from everything I read and my imagination going wild on what it might be like….grave dirt, freaksville, goth, lost masterpiece etc…. yes to me its all that…pragmatically it reminds me most of a very ancient sort of Vol de Nuit… But my right brain sees –
A dark but very green and ancient forest, this is a dream though, a perfect small but monumental totally plain and sculptural mid grey granite crypt, could be ancient, could be from the future…you dream your way in thru’ a door and down some perfect steps, but you don’t find death, you find eternity…
o-kaay, we all know smell connects straight to the primordal brain whatever, but this stuff is genius. This old Guerlain, what a Michelangelo he must have been….

      • maidenbliss says:

Oh wouldn’t you know, just got a sample of Vol de Nuit and fell in love-instantly. And you’re making an ancient sort of comparison. Turn your lights down low, madame, sit back in your cozy environ and dream your ancient forest dream…while I sit here with my right wrist laden with Chanel Coromandel thinking and pondering of an ancient Vol de Nuit.8-x need I say I’m envious? And it’s autumn, not spring lucky~:>

  • Winifreida says:

Lee just go outside and watch spring exploding in the garden. I once read a little pseudo-haiko thing likening a red Japanese maple stem to a stick of dynamite!
For some strange reason Downunder Autumn is producing a green obsession in me, maybe its still too warm here. Ya know still singlets and thongs….
Well folks, I just got a sample of Djedi.
    I’m wearing it.
    OMG OMG OMG

    • Graham says:

Oooooh – I, too, have a decant of Djedi that I have yet to really try out. I feel like I should save it for some special occasion, given its rarity, but there just aren’t THAT many special occasions that crop up in my life to merit it. I want to give it a run, but I just can’t bring myself to wear it with casual clothes, or to work, or something so…… pedestrian……. Sigh. I’m NEVER gonna use it! :-w

      • nozknoz says:

Ha, ha – I forgot who said this about champagne, I think, but clearly any time you wear Djedi would be a special occasion! <:-p

  • Graham says:

Hope the elbow is feeling better! Today is Kenzo Amour Indian Holi… Not sure why – just seemed appropriate. Early spring here, and it just felt cheerful!

  • panteralilly says:

Sorry about your elbow, very painful I know. I’m not wearing anything now, well just clothes, but no fumes, I’m thinking something spicy and wonderful, or something with patchouli. I can’t seem to leave the 60’s behind, I love me some patchouli, except now, it’s much more sophisticated and not the head shop variety. Get well soon amigo.

  • Tom says:

Sorry about the injury- you need voice to text!

I’m wearing Chypre Rouge. Still not convinced by it, Think I drained the sample..

  • Claudia says:

I’m trying out my sample of Hermes Elixir Des Merveilles. I know it’s ephemeral, but I used half the sample and I can still hardly smell it. But it’s cold in this office, so maybe I need to warm it up a little and re-apply.
    Hope you feel better soon.

  • mary says:

Hi there Lee–Hope your elbow feels better soon. This morning was a little chilly, so I spritzed on Bond No. 9 Chinatown– I guess the cherry blossoms and apple blossoms around put me in mind of the image on the bottle. It’s kind of spicy, kind of sexy, and I guess I need the encouragement. (*)

    • Ruanne says:

That’s funny- I went back to Chinatown today too, and I thought I had put it away for the time being. I was just a little chilled this morning, and it was just what I wanted.

  • pklagrange says:

Hi everyone. I am new to the perfumista world and have been enjoying your comments very much. Lee: sorry about your elbow. Sadly, no servants here, just dogs. The dogs, while exceptionally adorable, are disinclined to help with chores (apparently some error when I “trained” them…)

Today I am wearing Nejma Aoud #4 and trying to decide if I like it. Yesterday I was wearing Chanel Bois des Iles, which I love.

    • Musette says:

      =))

that’s from my dogs, who expect me to cover them with a blanket when they go to sleep at night! I am wondering just who trained whom? 😕

      xo >-)

  • Shelley says:

    Lido! Oh noes!!

No writing from Lee. :(( No gardening for Lee? :(( :((

I’ve got some Ivoire in the edp on my wrist, ’cause I’m still in the sampling and puttering portion of my morning. Yup, I’m here procrastinating, erm, shaking it up in the midst of mundane to-do items. Like Mals, our weather turned cool–which is appropriate, and I am happy for it. Longer bulb display, more drawn out budding out and such.

It was Bois Blond yesterday. Not sure yet what today will slap on me. 🙂

    • maidenbliss says:

Shelley, if you happen to check back out of boredom….:d Those lovely little grape clusters–did you call them Acaris? Lee told me the name, too, but can’t remember. Anyway, they came up yesterday – 6 of them and they are just enchanting, but I’d have to lay on the ground to get any waft, if there is one. They look like fruit for fairies…very sweet. Thanx for your input. As Mals and you say-it’s cool and it’s going to rain all weekend:((:(( Hope Lee is behavin himself.:-ss

      • Shelley says:

Oddly, I did check back. :d So the muscari (that’s the name) are up, are they? My muscari say hello to your muscari. Try this…step 20-40 feet away. I kid you not. Faint hint of something sweet and honeyed? That’s them. Odd birds, when it comes to getting scent off of them from close up. Got to have the right time of day/right temps/whatever moves their mood. But they waft well. And 😡 at the fruit for fairies; I have a dear friend with a daughter who loves to identify flowers suitable for fairies. Lily of the valley, of course, and mayapples, and hellebores–those all because you find the flowers *under* the leaves. You are right about the muscari…I’ll have to find out if she’s discovered those. Cool and lots o’ rain in store for us this weekend, but we need it. Have a good one!

        • Musette says:

I just ran into a patch of Muscari yesterday. How weird (not them). I walked up to this landscaped little area, looked, and said ‘oooh. Muscari’. The lady of the house, who was outside, looked at me very oddly… ;))

          xo >-)

          • maidenbliss says:

They are so sweet-never have I seen these before. I hope the rain doesn’t clobber them as they are very dainty looking. Perhaps the lady of the house supposed you were chatting with a diminutive or invisible lover?=)) Or were you referring to yourself?

  • mals86 says:

You really can’t get good help these days, can you?

I assume we’re talking scents for weather that’s in transition from winter to spring… Week before last, I thought we’d completed the transition to lovely warm weather, but I was wrong. The past two weeks have been chillier than our usual April (typically in the 70’s F), but I am Pretending Not To Notice. I’m wearing lilac and violet and green scents these days, particularly Silences and Crown Bouquet.

Take care of that elbow, babe.

    (Full body waxing? 😮 Ouch.)

  • maidenbliss says:

Gave my servs the day off:d So sorry to hear about your elbow-it’s very painful and I’m hoping you’ll not use it at all to ensure quicker healing. Hard to do, isn’t it?
Wearing nothing today except some leftover Santal Noble. It’s a lovely day and a lovely scent.
    :)>- Take care of you!!

  • nozknoz says:

I got Ineke Field Notes from Paris recently and love sleeping in it, so that’s still around this morning. I’m taking the day off to do massive spring cleaning (can’t wait for rosarita’s brilliant task sprays!) and plan to test a bunch of new samples. Will report back if anything turns out to be fantastic!

  • Fiordiligi says:

It’s so difficult to find good staff these days, isn’t it?!

Sorry about the elbow – how painful.

I’m in the newest Guerlain, Tonka Imperiale. today, and yet again I am feeling so glad that it is worthy of carrying the name of that venerable and beloved House.

It’s a beautiful sunny day here in London and I hope it’s the same for you in the sticks!

  • dleep says:

Feel better soon (fire those lazy servants). Today I am wearing Chanel Coromandel. I get more compliments on this than any other scent I own.

  • rosarita says:

Sorry about the painful elbow! I don’t have servants. What I wish for is a set of easy to use aerosal products that can cause tasks to disappear when the area in need is sprayed – with titles like *Dishes be Washed* and *Clothes be Folded*. I can dream, can’t I?

Today I’m wearing Prada Infusion d’Iris for the first time this spring. It’s feeling a bit lightweight, and I’m about to put some vintage Lancome La Collection Magie on top. 😕 Have a great weekend, all 😡

    • Musette says:

Oooh! Me likeee! Dishes be Washed! Clothes be Washed! (def on that one, please?)

I am wearing Bel Respiro. We’re having a cold rain here so I will prolly switch to Femme a little later, when BR wears off (in about 23 more minutes). I have a vintage that is just perfect!

Leeleee! So sorry about your elll bow! Here is a 😡 for it, in hopes it gets better p.d.q. And a ~o) with which to wash down the pain meds.

      xoxoxoxo >-)

  • Kate says:

I’ll holler my post so you don’t have to approach keyboard or use down arrow to read it:

I hope you heal quickly. L’Homme de Coeur is perfect! I was sad to see no Divine fragrances left at the sad Tak shelves at Sniffapalooza. I’ve not located the line at any other shop in Washington, DC-New York area.

I’m wearing Le Parfum de Thérèse. It is a masterpiece.

  • Tamara says:

Good morning , it’s a lovely one in the N.W., the sunrise is starting to peek over the rooftops..

Lee, I’m sorry to hear about your elbow, I can relate because I have rhuematoid arthritis and fibromalgia and it’s a bitch to type sometimes, my hands, wrists and elbows, well you get the idea. My girls are in school when I’m on here so no help there- take a soothing lavender epsom salt bath, that helps everything<3
Do you have access to any pain meds? Hope so 🙂

I'm wearing Infusion D' Iris , I just discovered it from being on here all the damn time . Bye babe, feel better!

  • Lynne1962 says:

Oh no, Lee! Can you peck it out with the “good” arm? I feel like I am pecking while sending text messages:( Don’t know all the shortcuts, but my younger “ones” do. I am wearing Atelier Orange Sanguine! Could drink it thru a straw!! Get better soon 🙂

  • ScentRed says:

Hope you feel better soon, Lee.

Today I’m wearing Musc Nomade. Soothing and powdery, which is appropriate since my house is covered in a thick layer of icing sugar-like plaster dust. 😮

  • Ann N. says:

Hi Lee, sorry to hear about your sore elbow; hope it’s better soon. I’m wearing Maitre Perfumeur et Gantier Camelia Chinois, an old favorite of mine, but getting harder and harder to find. I have, however, discovered that Clinique Wrappings is a pretty decent substitute. And Francesca, that’s too funny about the Carnal Flower baby — I knew they were starting them young these days, but wow … 🙂 Have a great day all!!

  • Francesca says:

Sorry about the tennis elbow. I know that’s very painful. Ice, ice, and more ice.

I’m not wearing any fragrance at the moment, because I’m just about to take my morning shower. But I do have an amusing story to share. Last night I went to visit a friend and see her new baby. She asked if I wanted to hold him, and of course I said yes. I exclaimed “But he smells wonderful! What’s on him?” and she named some baby product her mother had bathed him with earlier. I sniffed him again. “This is tuberose!” “Oh,” she said, “that’s my Carnal Flower. It must have transferred when I was cuddling him.” So at 4 months, Henry may be the world’s youngest male Carnal Flower wearer.

  • Louise says:

    Ouch, baby :((

    Stand back from the screen!

It really ticks me off when my servants are rebellious. In fact, just last night, one particularly recalcitrant one refused to whip up the Floating Isles desert that I just really needed.

Wearing, well, nothing. But yesterday was Byredo Pulp. I know, I know…I am one of 3 people on the planet that believes it smells fantastic on me. Oh, and I pay the servants to agree 😕

    😡
