Chanel Giveaway

Hello, darlings – it’s me again.  Daphne.  I’m terribly sorry to report that March is out faffing about in an undisclosed location, where she’s being forced to consume a variety of bourbons (for educational purposes, poppets).  Also, I’m … well, I’m a bit shocked by this, but I saw her eat fried chicken, Maryland crab cakes and steamed, spiced shrimp for dinner.  In a single meal.  I did tell her that  Posh er, Victoria and I will have to stage an intervention, because she’ll never fit into size 00s if she keeps on like that!   Her mouth was too full of Parker House roll for me to understand her response, but I think she told me to get stuffed.

She’s now passed out on the sofa, so I’ve had to step in.  Let’s have a giveaway, shall we?  Try to make things right?  Today we’re giving away a 1.7oz bottle of Chanel Chance Eau Tendre, absolutely free, to one lucky commenter!*  Winner will be drawn using random.org.   Also, and my sincerest apologies for this, but the winner must be a resident of the United States. Given recent security alerts, overseas mailing of contraband perfume from the D.C. area is a pain. Winner (Carter) has been selected and announced, contest is closed. Thanks to everyone who commented.

With any luck, March will put down the drumstick, wipe the Old Bay seasoning off her greasy fingers and pull herself together by Wednesday. We can all hope.  Until then – as March would say, smell good but don’t be good.  Cheers.

* The fine print — March will contact you through your email address, which you type in before you comment.  If  your address is incorrect, if you fail to respond within a week, or if the package gets lost in the mail — there will be no additional/alternate compensation.

  • Shelley says:

Ah, so March is off sharing her gifts with the bourbon now, is she? Fine. Single malts will languish for lack of her fickle attentions…though Irish whiskeys are now starting to prowl, thinking perhaps, when she rises from her pool of grease, she’ll make her way over to them.

pssst, Daph, come a little closer…
Darling, don’t you think there is a fragrance to be made using an Old Bay accord? Think about it…you love the rich concoctions…what is more decadent than a scent that manages to O.D. on the herbs and spices? A thick, fatty carrier…oh, the ironic stance one could take wearing such a thing…

Wait. I don’t think anything about you is ironic. Do it straight up. Goose fat. Old Bay. 100 year old port. Marrons glacee. A berry reduction. Some crab leg for March, lobster for you. All threaded with Old Bay. Perhaps with an opening of cheddar biscuit. (Those Parker House rolls have got to go, IMHO. One can be even more extreme.) I dunno…whatever you think is best.

No need to enter me in the drawing, love.

    Kiss kiss.

    • carter says:

Parker House it must *be* on the Eastern Shore! A cheddar biscuit would be the equivalent of a thin crust pizza in Chicago. Non!

      • Shelley says:

Somehow, I thought it might be you. Cookie Girl.

Really? Parker House is de rigueur? But that is much too, erm, refined a puffy delight in comparison to the cheddar biscuit, no? I mean, props to the East coast and all…but surely we can expand this to wider American vistas, no? I mean, this baby has to be BIG.

But if y’all must keep this to the one coast, I see that the Vineyard has imported fudge from points interior…can you at least include the fudge?

  • Gretchen says:

Hey, I must be loopy about entering prize drawings– I haven’t even smelled this stuff yet, but I want to win it. Go ahead, put my name in the hat.

  • annie says:

8-|8-|8-|eeeewww,eeeeewwww…..I want to look like the chic in the pic….yes, yes,I know all things are possible, but,we’d have to whisk 20(8-|),or so years off my body!….Please enter me in the drawing, ladies…who knows,it could be a new beginning….hmmmmm.

  • janjan says:

Now I’m craving crab cakes. I blame you!

  • Jen says:

Lol – this post and the comments have been a much needed pick me up this morning. You all never fail to amuse and educate me – Old Bay on egg salad? I Must try this!! And crab cakes!! And bourbon!! Perhaps we should try adding the bourbon to the egg salad and serving that on top of the crab cakes?? Too much?? Please enter me in the contest !

  • Fernando says:

Hmmm, I don’t know that I could handle all that food… The Eau Tendre I could find a good home for, however.

  • Wordbird says:

“As March would say, smell good but don’t be good.”
That one is going in my personal stash of quotes to live by! 🙂

(Don’t put me in the draw as I’m over the pond.)

  • Tara says:

I love Old Bay Seasoning…Have you ever tried it on egg salad (Yes I know there’s mayo in egg salad and that is a no no for )) crowd, but dam it tastes good)..

How is the Bourbon education going?

Please enter me in the drawing.

  • Kelly says:

Now every time I smell Chanel, I will think of fried chicken.

  • Jemimagold says:

Please enter me in the drawing. Thanks!

  • gator grad says:

    Pick me! Pick me!

I had an educational experience relating to food this weekend too: eating oily/heavy foods while you are super stressed can cause extreme heartburn and discomfort that lasts for days. Apparently, according to the doc, stress actually changes the way we digest. Here’s to hoping that March’s educational experience is less painful. 🙂

  • loverdoll says:

Sounds yummy to me . . . both the food and the fume . . .please enter me too . . G

  • karin says:

Hmmm…and she said she was only drinking bourbon for the aroma. 😉 Nice cover.

  • DinaC says:

What a mid-Atlantic feast March was having! Yummy. Please enter me in the drawing. I’m a huge fan of Chanel scents. Thanks. 🙂

  • Francesca says:

I love the image of our pretty Marchie lying in a pool of grease, drunk on food, burping daintily.

  • Louise says:

    You’re Dapht :d/

    😡

  • Schmidty says:

Please enter me in your wonderful giveaway. 🙂

    Thank you!

  • Jillie says:

Don’t want anything, just writing to say that I made crab cakes yesterday, with a mango salsa, and they were yummy. Then (my) homemade lasagne and lemon tart with rasberries. Followed by extremely smelly Epoisses cheese and oat cakes. Now feeling very solid and full, but it was a good way to spend Sunday with friends. About to roll around the house now, and not feeling much like sniffing any of my new samples from L’Artisan!

  • Adrianna says:

Chanel eau tendre, aaahhh, yes please!!!! All the Chances are beautiful!

  • KT says:

Please enter me for the drawing, thanks =)

  • DiainaWR says:

Crab legs! I demand she add crab legs! And also possibly a cowder of some sort.

I’m in for the drawing! Thanks!

  • HopeB says:

Old Bay seasoning is far superior to 00s, in any case–and Chanel perfume fits all sizes, miracle from God 🙂
Please enter me in the drawing, dahling!

  • leonel says:

    Pls enter me! Thanks

  • mary says:

Oh, I hope someone has a nice lavender scented wash cloth to put on poor March’s head– sounds like an alka seltzer morinng is in store. Bless her heart. Please enter me in the drawing, Tesm–Mary8-|

I shared this contest w/ over 300 friends on fb.

  • Kammi says:

I following you on twitter. I tweeted the contest. I am @kammikoza

    • Daphne says:

Twitter, poppet? That’s what the birds do, yes? They talk directly to me as well. They say: Daphne, your hair is extraordinary. And we adore your feathers.

  • Lavanya says:

    =))

please enter me in the draw! Thanks!

  • k-scott says:

Wow, sounds like a hot (albeit delicious) mess! Please enter me in the drawing. Thank you!

  • tmp00 says:

    Hello Daphne-

No need to enter me into the draw for the fumes; is there a way to enter me into the eating, drinking and passing out portion of the program?:d

    • Flora says:

What he said. No entry for me, I just want the crab cakes already. 😡

    • Daphne says:

It’s shocking. Shocking, I tell you. She goes to the Eastern Shore to visit the country cousins and all sense of propriety leaves her. That chicken, though — I do understand why she’s losing her mind over it. And the crabcakes! Homemade, broiled and almost entirely crab.

  • Thanna says:

Oh my – were the bourbon and donuts part of the same meal?? I enjoy a good bourbon (but not as much as I’d enjoy winning this drawing) but I can’t think of even one that goes well with an apple fritter!

  • Kelly says:

Dear Daphne – DON’T JUDGE ME — er… I mean March, of course! But the Chanel would be DIVINE!:-\”

    • Kelly says:

oh oh, emoticons are FUBAR again. Shoulda been Whistler.

    • Daph says:

Whistler has taken a powder. So sad. I fear he’ll never return.

Personally, I think it would be divine if everyone wore MY perfume. After all, what’s Chanel compared to the evil genius of CdG Daphne? I smell extraordinary, I assure you.

  • Catherine says:

I’d rather have fried chicken and poptarts—but the bottle of Chanel would be a fine substitute. 🙂

  • Suzy Q says:

    Dear Daphne,
I think I’d like to have dinner with March! I am huge Chanel fan so of course I want to be entered in the draw. Thanks for stepping in. The Perfume Posse needs you.
    Susan

    • March says:

Honestly, I have NO idea how these people function. Barely, in my opinion. I think I’ll spackle on some more glitter, put on my 12-inch hoof-heels and my diving helmet, and get to work. — Daph

  • carter says:

    What, no Berger Cookies? Amateur!

    • March says:

Darling Carter, it’s not as if March doesn’t eat enough of those things already. They’re terrible for the waistline. — Daph

      • carter says:

Well, if she’s gonna eat Maryland, she needs to bring it, Daph dahling>:/

      • carter says:

Oh, and Daph, be a dear and pass on to March that and nice long soak in Bluebell Bath Oil is an excellent way to get the Old Bay off of her greasy chicken fat fingers~:> I am here only to serve…

  • Janet says:

Mmmm, Old Bay seasoning. What is she having for desert? I want to life vicariously.

Please enter me in the drawing.

    Thanks!

    • March says:

So sorry, sweetheart, she SWORE me to secrecy. She’d be absolutely gutted if I told you about the donuts and the poundcake.
