UNTITLED #8 By Brent Leonesio

By Tom

I almost wanted to entitle this review something that would immediately make you, Tonstant Weader, immediately get a snapshot of this scent.  I thought “smut”.  I thought “stinky”  I thought better.

The notes according to LuckyScent are narcissus, civet, fur, tobacco, feral musk, oud, black leather.  You can forget the narcissus.  She’s in there, but she’s cowering in terror of the big cats, clutching her whip to her bosom and smoking nervously.  This is all-kitty-all-the-time; if you’re like me and find Muscs Kublai Khan to be a sweet little kitten and CB I Hate Perfume Musk Reinvention to just be a playful little darling then this Bud’s for you.  It is without a doubt one of the filthiest scents I’ve ever experienced, and I think that’s high praise.  While I’d wear it on its own (not to confession, though) I think it might be best layered; If you find some of the newer reformulations of an old favorite have lost their bite, this little number can add it back in big time.  For those of you who dare to wear it alone you’d best be prepared to back up its carnal promise with action…
UNTITLED #8 is a limited edition of 100 bottles; $60 for 8ML.  I received my sample from the perfumer.
  • Becky says:

Just put this on and the first thing that came to mind was pooh, and not good pooh either. 10 minutes later and I am starting to appreciate it, but I am glad only ordered the sample. Don’t think I’d wear this much . . . still getting that trace of pooh, or as Musette states so eloquently, “cat butt”. No, must layer something.

  • Flora says:

Woo hoo! I will probably never smell this but it sounds great!

  • mjc17601 says:

When I first experienced this scent I thought: urine and barnyard. I was turned off and turned on. Completely infatuated with this scent. After an hour the tobacco and leather make an appearance and soften the feral essence. I love this scent!

  • tammy says:

My sample is now on its way, darn you anyway.

I hate musk…. hate it hate it hate it. But I looooooooves me some fur and tobacco.

Pure Oud smells like a huge cat sunning itself in a windowsill on me, and Party in Manhattan is all spicy fur on my skin, no skank whatsoever, so I thought I may as well give Untitled a go.

It will be sharing an envelope with Daphne; hope they don’t fight along the way! #:-s

  • DJ says:

MKK is only skanky on me for a bit and then turns into…Body Shop White Musk, which I personally loathe. It smells great for a few hours though and is warmer (stays warm/skanky-skin-like) on my friend.

    so…must try this one, somehow.

  • maidenbliss says:

lol annie, old men in the donut shop! This sounds right up my alley, my back alley. Gotta try this.

MKK was a surprise- was expecting downright tight skank. Love it, but what was all the fuss about? I thought it was Little Miss Kitty, not the dirty furry tiger I was expecting. Love it anyway, very wearable.

  • annie says:

OH,lORDY…THIS IS MY KIND OF JUICE!!!….If I was young & slutty, again,I’d grab as many bottles as I could carry….but now,I’d only attract the old men in the donut shop….sigh…carry on young perfumistas, and enjoy every minute of it!!

  • March says:

Uh. This sounds like something I definitely need to try!

  • mals86 says:

Ah, I see that I’m the first Musk Chicken (no, we’re not related to Musk Oxen) to check in here… haven’t tried this, but I can just tell this is not up my alley. I’ve found several of the Smell Bents to contain what I’d call some Darn Filthy Musk – including your darling Commando, Tom, which does indeed smell like a sweaty soldier to me.

I suspect that my skank wheelhouse lies on a different portion of the Venn diagram, over toward civet and leather, maybe. (Wore Bal a Versailles to sleep in last night…)

  • Musette says:

I have never been Lady Musk but I do love moi some cat butt….:-? I rarely get the filthy bits everybody else raves about in scents except for stuff like the new Femme, which really does smell like Stuff You Wouldn’t Discuss With Your Mother (my mother, anyway)…crap – I swore I wouldn’t try any new ‘fumes for awhile but……:-?

    Tom, you are eeeevil. 😡

    xoxoxo >-)

  • Jarvis says:

Thanks for reviewing this, Tom. Musk, civet, leather, oud? Sign me up…

  • Jared says:

I just got some CB Musk for the first time this week…I guess this is the era of musk and civet. Sounds like I need to add this to my collection.

  • I tried my sample of this the other day, and I had hyped it up so much in my head that there was no way the scent could live up to it. I found it to be a rather weak scent actually, it may be in part due to the oil base. I enjoyed the musk, civet and leather, but found them to be too soft on my skin. Where was the bite I was promised? Maybe I’m the big cat and Untitled #8 is the tame kitten. I didn’t smell any oud, and the drydown in the long run, proved to deliver only a faint artichoke dip smell. Anyway, I am jealous that it was so animalic for you, that’s what I was hoping for. Susanne Lang’s #6, on the other hand, was a total slam dunk, and I hope to review it very soon. It’s really nice to read others’ thoughts on #8, thank you for your review!

    • tmp00 says:

      Damn honey-

You must be the big cat! I’m going to have to seek out that Suzanne Lang now..

      • Since many of our astrological signs have changed recently (for whatever it’s worth), I went from a Virgo to Leo, so maybe the big cat really is lurking within. Boadicea The Victorious’ Complex knocked my socks off very recently, and I suppose that set the bar pretty high in terms of animalic, avant-garde stinky scents. It’s straight up motor oil, leather and civet on me with an aromatic herbal, astringent edge… that’s a scent experience! It made my face wrinkle up with disgust/pleasure, it’s the scent equivalent of rubbernecking a car wreck.

  • Datura5750 says:

Mine arrives tomorrow, I can’t wait!

    • tmp00 says:

do tell how it works out!

      • Datura5750 says:

Well it transported me back to junior high school, it smells just like a musk I used to wear then, the name of which escapes me. Oh musks were grand back then, before the scent police saved us from ourselves!
I also have fallen in love with the new Juicy Couture scent that smells like Herbal Essences shampoo once did….
Why this seventies nostalgia? I think even inexpensive things smelled much better then….
