Smell Bent Winter Specials

This one’s going to be kind of brief, since I’m in the middle of volunteering on a School Board race that goes the vote as this post airs.

I met with Brent Leonesio, the creator and nose for Smell Bent, and he showed me the scents that were coming up for the winter season. Luckily, about ten minutes after meeting him I went on a trip to Sacramento, where it never got much above 50, and returned to LA to find rain and highs in the low 60’s. So the weather fit. Here’s the list (with my impressions):

Ho x 3

A double dose of jasmine skanked up with cumin, rose, patchouli, sandalwood and spicy musk.

Well, you all know I’m a sucker (If you’ll excuse the expression) for a good musk and this is one. The rose and woods are especially prominent on my, cutting the musk. The cumin is extremely light, in case you’re phobic.

Hansel & Dreidel

wheat absolute with honey, baking spices, sandalwood, hiba and musk.

If Lann-Ael and Like This got together and had a child, this would be it. I smell a little cocoa in there. I like.

Dead of Winter

Anise liquor, vanilla, heliotrope, cedar and zombie musk. 

I normally don’t care for Anise in perfume, but this is more along the lines of  Jägermeister than Jelly bean. I don’t think I need it but I did enjoy.

Sno Birds

orange flower, aged amber, sweet resins, and dark patchouli spiced with cardamom and golden ginger

It’s sweet, in an interesting way. I makes me think of snow. Definitely not me. My godchild would love it.

Pere Noel Coward

Sweet immortelle, atlas cedar, jasmine, fir balsam and piñon sap

One that’s making a deserved winter comeback. Starts off smelling like a fresh-cut Christmas tree and that’s one of the best scents in the world. The it starts adding in the immortelle and it gets even better..
