It was pleasure on Saturday to go and meet Andy Tauer and Brian Pera, who are the nose and I guess the word would be the muse behind the Tableau de Parfums line, which was created by Andy as an adjunct to the film Woman’s Picture, created by Brian. Woman’s Picture is an episodic and ongoing piece about (so far) three women, and Ingrid is the last to receive a scent to go with the episode.
“Ingrid” is about a woman (Calpernia Addams) who comes home with a friend (played by Pera) to visit her mother and the tensions that ensue. Perfume is an escape for Ingrid- she refers to them with longing, as if the names of the ones she likes (vintage mostly) could transport her to another world.
Ingrid the perfume takes that love to a new level. Like Miriam, Ingrid is a perfume with a conscious nod to the retro. But while Miriam is all retro glamor, Ingrid is softer and more consciously feminine. It starts off with a soft citrus and spice accord, before going to soft white flowers and finally ending in Vanilla and what I’ll always think of as Tauerade in the dry down.
While it nods to the retro, it’s in no way a retro fragrance. It’s perfectly wearable (and perfectly gorgeous.) It doesn’t have a lot of throw- it’s a scent that you lean into. Lasting power is great- I got 10 hours or so.
I also got to meet the lovely Grace Zabriskie, who is starring in Pera’s Only Child, where she will be playing the mother of “Loretta” from Woman’s Picture. I can only hope they come up with a scent for that one as well.

Hey, Tom! This one sounds nice — love that it’s a fragrance ” that you lean into.” And how cool that you got to meet Grace Zabriskie; such a good actress, with so many great roles, although I did love her especially in “Twin Peaks.”
Ann- It’s a great take on the classics, and definably it’s own thing. Meeting Ms, Zabriskkie was icing on the cake.
I keep meaning to try Ingrid, Miriam and Loretta but keep forgetting them! I do like Andy Tauer’s work even though I wasn’t impressed with a couple of them.
