Eek, no, a punt for today!

I am so sorry.  We had our big post-Thanksgiving sale the last four days, and our shipping software and store software picked Friday to stop talking to each other, so I’ve dealt with trying to get that to work as well as manually shipping everything, which — ugh!  I forgot how much time that takes.

So I have absolutely nothing to talk about but that today.  I do have this!!

vinnie bulldog elf

Vinnie says I’m not mad, mom!  Believe it or not, he really doesn’t mind. He sorta lets me do anything I want to him, and he loves being warm, and he thought it was nice that I gave him a jacket.  Isn’t he adorable?  Vinnie doesn’t smell like perfume at all. Both he and Buddy smell like farts. They broke into the kitchen – with the cats’ help – on Saturday night and had a party in the trash. They ate my bread, leftover bones from the goose, and then they were barking vigorously at 4 a.m. to get let out because they needed to poop out some of their stolen goodies.  Went back to bed, and they woke me up again at 4:45a to get a refill of water.  Apparently thievery is thirsty work..  Then they did nothing but fart  for about 36 hours. This house smelled like dog farts. I couldn’t stand it.  Vinnie deserved this costume.  Back behind him is Buddy, running away from the camera that wants to steal his soul.

This is my glamorous life.  Aren’t you jelly?

I do have all my samples for the sandalwood post next week, and if nothing else blows up and some things get fixed between now and then, I’ll have it ready for sure.  So let’s do something fun for a drawing today.  How about three winners, the sample of your choice is the prize.  So how was your Thanksgiving?  Or do  you have any perfume on your wish list for a Christmas/Hanukkah gift?

  • Tara says:

We specialize in dog, cat and husband farts in my house – lots of scented candles and room sprays to kill the stench. I would love to get a sample of Armani Prive Ambre Orient! After watching the video sniff on Australian Perfume Junkies today that sounds like just the ticket.

  • FearsMice says:

I can totally see the cats as accomplices in the kitchen raid! And they probably sat back and laughed at everyone’s misery afterward… (I love cats, btw.) I’m not planning on buying myself perfume for Christmas, but will give it instead.

  • Mary K says:

Vinnie is so cute in his costume! Not good, though, that he helped himself to hard-to-digest items from your trash! Thanksgiving was good here. I’m not that fond of turkey or pumpkin pie, so didn’t do any over-eating. I was in need of a bottle of L’Air du Desert Marocain, and it is now on its way to me. I can count that as Christmas present to myself.

  • kizzers says:

Love the doggy-fart story, made me laugh out loud in my hotel room (I’m away on business and missing home, so thanks for that xxx). We used to have 5 collies at our old farmhouse (yes 5!) and they snaffled all the Christmas leftovers one year – parsnips, brussel sprouts and everything! Guilty Collie tails are custom built for wafting that odour around. I’d quite like OJ T’aif for Christmas this year, but I’m going to be strong and wait to see if there’s a sale in January. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving !

  • xtopher says:

Thanksgiving was just OK. I had so much work to do that I couldnt relax really. I am thankful for my jobs which help me and my family survive but I will be really thankful once I can take a long long nap. At least I got to see people I havent seen in a long time, specially my cousin. My mom is getting old so I like to see her often and enjoy her days.

  • helical gnome says:

I went to my mother’s house to spend Thanksgiving with the family. My aunts and uncles are old and they talk a lot so some kind of madness (or rather and excess of it) could not be avoided. I was back at home by 10 with a lot of left overs and a bit of a headache. I do love my family of course, but they do drive me insane :s

  • wefadetogray says:

Dog farts? Hahaha too funny and clearly not the best scented experience. My Thanksgiving was a delight! A lot of food. A lot of love. A lot of people. Yet the aftermath has lasted me more than I could have anticipated. I spent four days in bed with some belly virus or something like that. I refuse to think I ate so much that I damaged myself to the point I was not able to leave the bed so I’ll go with a belly virus. YAY! Sandalwood special post. I cannot wait!
    Thanks.

  • Jan Last says:

Had a great Thanksgiving, at someone else’s house. No dog farts, but an elderly relative brought some rancid nuts, put them in bowls all over the house so we had puking into trash cans! Almost as bad as cat puke, but the sound of people gagging puts me in gag mode, too. My Christmas list is on my perfume spreadsheet because that is all I want! From Atelier Gold Leather to Thirdman Eau Nomade with bunches in between. Sigh, I know already I am receiving a Kitchen Ninja.

  • Lynne Marie says:

Your dog is adorable, Patty! He looks like a canine Robin Hood! My latest FB wish is Hilde Soliani’s IL Tuo Tulipano Red (so, so pretty!) – I have 2 little samples that are disappearing rapidly. So now it is on the want list along with Orchidee Vanille and Tom Fords Noir de Noir. My FB list is getting out of hand!

  • Sylvia says:

Sorry to hear the computers aren’t co operating… You’re dog is such a 🙂 really cute little guy! I am in love with Ambre Eau d Mervilles – and im hoping to get some for my bday!!- and I’m slightly obsessed with finding a frankincense and myrrh scent for the holidays. I’d love some reccomends if anyone has an inexpensive one. I can’t justify spending much on me right now. I’d love to be in the draw.. Thanks. And happy holiday shopping to you all. 🙂 isn’t the weather beautiful!!?

  • Liz K says:

I haven’t been exposed to doggie gas for years and am grateful. Instead I have cat farts which are just as bad and come with cat vomit (woke up to someone puking on me Sunday morning) and cat piddle (someone peed on my basket of sweet potatoes and my precious delicata squash).
Thanksgiving was nice but slightly sad this year. Husband had to work long hours day before and day after and Mom had to put down my late father’s barn cat which was really a bummer. Little guy was born on my lap when I was in high school and was always around helping at Mom’s. He was 18 with emphysema and getting pretty frail so it wasn’t unexpected but still…
Not getting any perfume this year in spite of my wish-listing several. Got a very nice DSLR instead so really can’t complain, especially when it was his idea. So thoughtful! Have had samples of the Vero’s I haven’t tried on the list for ages. I love Rubj but neeeed to try the others too.

  • eldarwen22 says:

I have 3 Labs that are so rank without the table scraps but they do love to garbage pick and counter surf. I remember a year ago, my eldest Lab decided that it was a great idea to eat an entire 56 ounce bag of M&M’s. It was a nerve racking three days and this is the same dog as a puppy decided to get into my mother’s medicine drawer. I loved the STC sale and I do have a liking for the grab bags. I’m hoping that Santa will give me a couple Amazon gift cards or a gift card to STC because my family doesn’t believe in getting me anymore perfume. But I’m really hoping for a backup bottle of Epic Woman.

  • Elena says:

Lol at your doggies! My goofy greyhound mysteriously and periodically has 6 hour spells of noxious fumes. (I think he eats cat poop.) We buy a lot of candles. No Diptyque around here… what’s the point when it all has an undercurrent of dog butt? If I had a fairy godmother I’d ask for Amouage Lyric for Xmas, but we’re getting our kitchen redone this January so such things are not in the cards.

  • tammy says:

My beloved Newfie Asia once woke us up in the middle of the night with gas so bad I thought we were under some sort of chemical attack before we realized what it was. Our eyes were streaming and I was having trouble breathing. My husband let her outside and discovered an empty egg carton and a few stray bits of eggshell on the back porch….I knew I had bought eggs, but couldn’t find them, and though I’d left them at the store.

A dozen eggs and a large dog is a dreadful combination, but you could practically see yourself in her coat for a week after!

I miss her so much and have never been able to even think of getting another dog since we lost her.

No perfume for me this Christmas; my husband’s salary has been reduced by 2/3s and I am still unemployed. But we’re rich in love and our house is paid off, so I’m trying not to worry. (And frankly, other than the paycheck, I do not miss working!) I’m craving narcissus and yet something kind of rich and spicy, so I was wondering if Maison Francis Kurkdjian Paris Lumiere Noire Pour Femme might be something worth trying. Does any one have an opinion on that? I’ve not tried anything from this house, but it gets such kudos.

    • Musette says:

I’m taking a break from work and leg-pain to read some of P’s folks’ comments – Tammy, you are rich, indeed. And you two will be Just Fine.

MFK might be a good one for your craving. Another one to sample might be Dia EXTRAIT (extrait ONLY) – it has no actual narcissus that I know of but there’s a springy carnation underlying that is vaguely narcissus-y (don’t ask me why – it just is) but then the carnation releases that clove-y fabulousity amongst the aldehyde-springy fizz, so it veers back and forth between spicy/rich and springy-green (not green ‘smell’ – green in aura, like Spring)

      Clear as basalt, eh?

      xoxoA

  • Bastet says:

What a cute picture! I have many perfumes on my list but if I had to choose just one it would be FM Portrait of a Lady.

  • Martha says:

I am sincerely sorry to hear about the dog farts. My dog, though she is only 13 lbs., can release gas that will bring on bronchial spasms and cause the eyes to water. And that’s just from “grain-free”, high-end dog food. The one and only time she ate a bunch of table scraps, I spent a solid hour in the middle of the night cleaning up barf and diarrhea which started on my bed and ended in the kitchen. The bed spread went straight to the trash barrel in the garage. I couldn’t deal with it. Oy! However, she continues to live the good life at my house, playing frisbee, chasing tennis balls, going for walks, etc. despite her earlier offense. For myself, the question is: do I spring for Debut or Bois de Paradis by Parfums DelRae?

  • Lynley says:

No Thanksgiving celebrations here in sunny Australia, but hopefully everyone had a wonderful day.
What I would like for Christmas is Tendre est la Nuit by Majda Bekkali. Beautiful bottle, beautiful spicy woody smell. There are others on my list as always, and so many new loves to be discovered… one can dream 🙂

  • Musette says:

DNEM, of course. I just wanted to say hi and yarble on about dog farts and bullet cans! xoxoxo

  • Musette says:

Bullet Can – Rubbermaid 9630 Stainless Steel bullet can (mine is in black). I got it when I had my Airedevil – it was the only thing that stopped trash thievery and resultant poopage/fartage.

Something must, literally, be ‘in the air’. El O had to get up this am – twice- to let out los perros (my leg and back are still wonky and he left me a sinkful of dishes so HE can get up at 5:23 and let out the dogs). And they farted hard enough that we had to police the entire first floor, positive that they had experienced some anal leakage. Luckily, no.

    xoxoxoA

  • fanny says:

We know all about dog farts over here.
And we do not have Thanksgiving in Europe…, boohoo
Here’s my kid who drew a winner in a contest, I put her in my icon.
    Kind regards.

  • rosarita says:

Love the look on Vinnie’s sweet face! We used to have a golden retriever who would sneak out of the yard and raid the neighbor’s trash, faithfully dragging home a decomposing turkey carcass every Thanksgiving. And I still miss him, farts and all! Yes, the sales at STC, Amazon etc were too good to resist and I have some perfume coming my way, which will be all for a while. Famous last words 🙂

  • He He he Dog farts STINK, but my Jin can outfart even the most carb loaded dog. OMG!! Seriously, don’t light a match stuff. It’s like sleeping in a Chernobyl tannery.
DNEM but I am thinking to wear my Vintage Nuit de Noel Parfum I got from Surrender To Chance for Xmas.
    Portia xx

    • Tara says:

Portia, I can relate, I have one of those sleeping in my bed too – loud ripping farts that reek so badly your eyes water and flapping the covers just makes it worse.

  • Irina says:

Oh, dear not a qiuet night/day
No Thanksgiving here but lots of Hanukah, eating a lot….
would love a sample Roja Dove’s ” Djagilev” as I’m not getting any fragrance as a gift

  • Elia says:

Well I think I’ll treat myself to some Le Dix for Christmas.
It seems gift worthy and so do I

  • taffyj says:

I wish Vinnie (or his lookalike) were the prize!

  • zazie says:

LOL! Those two chaps were up to some serious mischief! Vinnie is so charming indeed – and his very innocent expression is to die for! 😀
I fear I’ll get no perfume related present this Xmas – my Bday was a couple of weeks ago and I already received a perfume (from my husband. I had to drop heavy hints for about a month before the day. He is quite hint resistant. 😉 Bois del iles extrait, yay!)…
but if I can dream, it’ll be one of these:
Sous le vent, Asrar, Songe d’un Bois d’Été…. even their names have a dreamy quality to them….I wish Santa could read this!

  • Jackie b says:

I’m sure all dogs do this! I just wish they could associate naughty theft and gorging with the ensuing stomach ache.
There is no perfume on my Xmas list, but I do have a lovely box of samples sent to me by my Fairy GM and there are sure to be some must-haves.
    Maybe sandalwood!!!

  • Ellen says:

Do all dogs do this? Mine did! Your house sounded like mine. I’d like any Serge Lutens except Un bois Vanille which I actively dislilke, but I think Santa is getting me slippers. Sigh…..

  • DaveStPaul says:

These dog stories are so golden. =:0)

Why yes, I *do* have fragrance on my Christmas list. The missus carelessly commented recently that I smelled nice. Ha! Caught ya! I was wearing a sample of Coze by Parfumerie Generale. So when a few days later the missus said “I don’t know what to get you for Christmas” — well, I had an answer ready.

It all came together so beautifully . . .

  • Nemo says:

That is a super awesome picture, and I couldn’t help but laugh at their 36 hour farting marathon. I don’t have any perfumes on my Christmas list, mostly because I wanted to keep gifts small this year. I plan on buying decants like crazy as soon as 2014 hits though 🙂 I look forward to the sandalwood post!

  • hajusuuri says:

At least they signaled to go poop outside instead of the alternative! I was one of the STC shoppers and I think I will be very happy with my choices. As to a Christmas gift, I had been hankering over Chanel Bois des Iles pure parfum. A girl can only hope…

  • Ann says:

Patty, what a charmer that Vinnie is — he’s just so cute (despite being a trash thief 🙂 ) I have a very soft spot for bulldogs as that’s the mascot of my alma mater. BTW, so sorry to hear about the software snafu — wish I was closer; I’d be happy to come help out.

  • spiker says:

I had a lovely Thanksgiving, but got carried away in the holiday sales and bought too much perfume (Thank you STC!). I need to finish my present shopping, then rein it way back for the new year.

Hope the rest of your holiday season goes well. Perhaps with fewer dog farts.
