Oh, MISS!! and a draw!

OMGosh!  So….Patty is Miss.  And I, my dear Posse, am Miss MISS!   It’s Tuesday and it sho’ ain’t Belgium.  I’ve been at my desk for the past 12 hours, except for when I had to dash around town, stalking the UPS guy (you’d think I could find him in a 4-sq mile town.  You would be wrong.  It was like Where’s Waldo? in Brown).  The best part about being deluged with work is the work! (and the money, of course).  The worst part of the deluge?  The WORK!  My job is to keep my customers happy – we are a small, custom shop so what we offer is ridiculously fabulous custom work and even more ridiculously fabulous customer service.  “yeah, so what?” – well, today brought one of my best customers, a big ol’ burly guy, nearly to tears, then to tears of joy – we are able to get these goofy little specialty parts to him for Thursday.  But!  In order to do that, I have to take my lead guy’s mother to the podiatrist so he can make the parts – these are not Just Anybody Parts.  So off I go to the podiatrist.  Crazy!  But it works for me.

Here’s a picture of Bruno.  Don’t freak – he’s PredBelly right now – his doctor keeps saying “don’t freak out about the spine.  Step away from the spine”…as I keep wanting to put a blanket on him – and it’s freakin’ 90F here.  He is, in fact, doing pretty well, though the heat is playing a bit of havoc with him.  The prednisone makes his belly huge and pulls all the meat and muscle down from the spine – but it’s a function of the med.  He looks awful, doesn’t he?  But he’s fine.  Sends you all big licky kisses.

bnointhegarden

Just lookin’ for a place to pee!

Everything else is WORK!  We are to the gills with stuff like planetary gearboxes and stub shafts and moveable walls and I am so happy I could cry!  But this is Perfume Posse, not Bear Boring…so let’s talk perfume.  Patty already asked y’all how your summer is going….I dunno…I was expecting a relaxing week so I’m a bit gobsmacked with the BUSY!  Tellyawhat!   Let’s do a draw!!!  Just tell me a quick story – anything – what’s going on in your world???.  Bruno will pull two folks and send you some samples, how’s that?  It’s the least I can do for yarblin’ on about my shop.

The weather is awful here, it’s so cold. I cannot get past that. It does not feel like having a summer and holiday. The plus side
is I can do gardening and hang out with my kids. It’s lots of fun!

  • Elena says:

Wearing Rance Laetitia as my SOTN and reveling in its warmth though it’s hot as dickens out. My baby has Coxsackie virus, which is even less fun than it sounds, and I am holding my breath to see if my older daughter gets it too. And me. And my husband. Too tired and grumpy to make light of the situation…

Busy craziness ’round these parts! Just got not one but TWO new managers at my workplace. Both seem to be nice. Unfortunately they both found out that their boss the District manager ISN’T. So I kinda wonder if our store’ll be able to keep them . Grr.
At work we just started the big semi-annual bra sale but nobody had really focused on all the proper prep for it so I tried to do some catch up tasking to remedy some of that today, while I covered a shift for a coworker who hurt her foot/ankle stepping into a pothole last Sunday . May have to cover her shift ( in part or all ) 9:30-2 /3and mine 5-9:30/10 +pm. And we all have to be up early tomorrow so the air conditioner repairman can install a new heat pump at 7 am !
Yea! For cold air! Ugh for early mornings( I’m a total night-owl )
No real Sotd here ( BBW Black Amethyst shower gel doesn’t count really.) as I’m in a church patriotic show ( Whitesburg Baptist Church I Love America – there’s a 3 minute video on YouTube if anybody wants to see a snippet of the 2008 one . I’m on the top row of the living flag.) We’re up on the flag for around 2 hours standing and singing during our parts of the production. We didn’t get home from the full dress rehearsal tonight til about 9:30 pm. I’m tuckered out. Still had to feed the kitties( litter box still awaits one reason this post is so long- I’m procrastinating ) while Dad took care of Charlie our family’s ( mostly Dads)7 month old ,55 lb chocolate lab (puppy? He’s Still Growing! He’s gonna be huge! And a flip flop thief too..)Okay enough procrastination ..I gotta go scoop before Zorro decides that my shoes make an acceptable alternate box.

  • Amy says:

I am seriously doing as little as possible lately. No kidding, I had popcorn for dinner tonight. Mercury retrograde whipped my behind into submission, so I am layin’ low. But I do get to go to NYC next month – woo-hoo!!

  • Kandice says:

Glad Bruno is doing so well. That’s good to hear! My fur baby is on pred twice a day. As my vet says, if it makes them feel better and saves their life, then the other symptoms aren’t worth worrying about. Hope he continues to improve 🙂

  • Tiffanie says:

Bruno looks cute in the garden. Here’s my story for today:

I had a big hug from an old friend today. She was wearing J’adore Voile de Parfum. (I asked her.) She loves it, and it smells nice on her, so I tried it. But when I got home I had to change my clothes and scrub my arms to get the odd artificial smell off. There must be a musk in there that my skin does not like. And I was hoping I might try J’adore and adore it, too. Whoops.

  • kizzers says:

We had summer last week – back to rain now. Nevermind, it keeps the Scottish midgies away. Good to see Bruno mooching around the garden 🙂
I’m wearing Reem Acra in the rain, and its delicious – also found a new line called Phaedon I’ve been trying out (a bit on the masculine side but Black Vetiver and Oriental Mint are big hits so far). I just got a care package from STC today with some Tom Ford London and Piguet Gardenia in there – yum!
    Happy summer folks ! xxx

I had my gallblader out friday and now i am stuck at home with my foot nailed to the floor. All i can do is shop for perfume and read all about the wonderful scents out there so its not so bad and my credit card bill won’t come in until next month. Thanks for keeping me entertained.

  • tomate farcie says:

I miss having a dog! I grew up with a killer dachshund. My parents paid a lot of medical bills .. That was one protective dog and we loved him just as fiercely. The only time I saw my dad cry was when that dog died. My mom had to hold us all together.

  • einsof says:

    round here…

…i do the annual lawn machinery break down dance. this year the machinery wins so i prepare my argument for an electric machine this time; my family so fond of the burning of fossil fuels. (it’s not a battle i intend to win, but i am not at war.)

the tornado which totaled our pickup turns out to be the good witch in the land of insurance and greed; oh my!

i’ve been blessed with new perfume fairies and people to spread fairy dust upon. 🙂

i watch a batch of patchouli/rose accord age. a process which teaches me to be hands off and lovingly patient. or so i try….

    happy podiatry petal pursuing!

  • Claudia D. says:

Very uneventful summer going on here. Spending quite a bit of time shuttling in-laws to doctor appointments. Thanks so much for the draw, and give Bruno some big hugs for me! 🙂

  • Ashley A says:

A good summer so far, but worrisome. I just graduated with my Masters degree and am job hunting. It’s the first time I’ve felt like I’ve had a real summer in a long time, but I am also broke and desperately need a job! Still, having free time is a luxury that I’m enjoying tremendously at the moment. The summer produce is out and it has been good eatin’ and long days spent at the swimming pool. Nothing too exciting, but it’s nice.

  • thegoddessrena says:

In acupuncture clinic finally treating outside patients and not just my classmates and it’s so much fu. that I’m practically getting high off it. Knee pain, anxiety and insomnia seem to be the leading complaints so far

  • Lauren says:

Gardening and cooking, gardening and cooking – my idea of heaven. We’re having a rainy summer, which is unusual in these parts, so we’re enjoying the weird, and sometimes wonderful, stuff that does to plants. In between, I’m trying to do a massive decluttering of the house – yuck. 🙁 But it’s ok, cause I am allowing myself a little fragrant purchase at each milestone. Sending love to your poor doggy! We just lost our old chocolate lab in feb, so the feeling of watching an ailing pet is still not far from me.

  • Nemo says:

Busy is great! I am pretty busy from work, too, with one year left until I can (hopefully) earn my degree. I’ve had a slight set back this week with a teeny cold that turned me into an elderly sloth for a few days, but hopefully I’ll be better by the end of this week. It will be just in time for a bbq and more work 🙂

  • Connie says:

I’m looking forward to my upcoming 4th of July trip- I always go to see my family in the backwoods of Pennsylvania. We go to all of these festivals, like the Barkpeeler’s Convention, which celebrates the CCC of the thirties, which one of my great grandfathers was a part of. They have crazy competitions and wonderful biscuits. An odd tradition, but I can’t imagine the summer without it.

  • lemoncake says:

Traveling too much lately for work….no place exciting. Looking forward to a long weekend at home over the 4th. All I want to do is sit on the porch and read. Glad Bruno’s doing well. I had a cat on pred for a number of years and she did quite well.

  • Spiker says:

So happy to hear that Bruno is doing well. Such a good boy! My cat Emily had a health scare about the same time as Bruno and is pretty well recovered. The only issues she has at the moment are the two rings around her front legs where they shaved for the IV, earning her the nickname Poodle Paws, and a strong desire to be hand fed rather than getting her whiskers dirty in the bowl. Of course, I’m too tough-minded to spoil her like that. Sure I am.

  • rosarita says:

Congratulations on all the work! It’s crazy how this area has rebounded from the Great Recession. I am busy with the elderly this summer and cooking for bunches of people who need it. With the arthritis in my hands it’s challenging and changing some cooking methods is like solving a puzzle, but it’s easier than taking my parents on a field trip to Best Buy to buy a new computer and trying to help my 90 year old dad navigate Windows 8 over the phone, oy. Talk about the blind leading the blind! Wearing lots of Atelier samples lately – Tréfle Pur smells amazingly similar to Jean Nate in a good way 🙂

  • solanace says:

Super busy here too! Love my work, but too many meetings prevent me from doing the stuff I really have to! If I´ll be sitting on a round table with other people, I like to go for some vetiver: smart and no nonsense. Come to think of it, vetiver is such a ´masculine´ note, doing this amounts a bit to wearing big shouder pads in the eighties. Well, so be it, Sycomore is my scent today and it feels empowering.

  • poodle says:

Greta the poodle had that big belly from the Cushing’s disease but since she’s been on my herbal hocus pocus regime it hasn’t come back yet. Cushing’s creates similar symptoms to being on pred. The body basically makes too much cortisol. The cortisol also masks other issues that you would treat with pred in a normal dog, like allergies. So now that her cortisol levels aren’t that high she has resorted to chewing her itchy feet from allergies. When white dogs chew or lick repeatedly their saliva turns their fur reddish brown. So now she looks like she is wearing socks because all her feet are a different color. Her feet still smell like popcorn though so I’m happy. Give Bruno a big kiss from pooh-del please.

  • It’s a crazy time at work for me as well: I have cancelled any vacation time I had planned (several 3 day weekends…whohoo…), and will be going at it hammer and tongs until Aug. 6 when I get to hop on a plane to Chicago, wear dress clothes and stand for 8 hours straight every day thru the weekend. Oh yeah, and the noise–hundreds of flutists trying out flutes and piccolos. Wish I could wear earplugs! Well, I could, but then I might miss the 99th person asking me how much the flute costs, when the price list is right there in front of them. Looking forward to Labor Day already…
    Big licky kisses to Bruno!

  • Elia says:

Nothing really going on, from work to babysitting to work really.
It’s been the month of weddings and Baptisms too, so I’ve been trekking about non-stop,
had my baby girl’s first too last week,
and mama wanted to do a big do, so more running 🙂
    but it was lovely

  • J. says:

My life is taken over by a 5-month-old baby. This week the first two teeth appeared. Lots of crying. Nursing and typing.

So I wafted off to sweet France, or – to be exact – to Dijon for four days (easy, when you live here in cheeseland – two and a half hours by train). Ladies and gents, that place is just gorgeous. Best old town in France – half-timbered houses from the Middle Ages, classicist simplicity, overdone stone decorations, all living happily beside each other and beside the grand ducal palace (now an art museum and due to be the second largest museum in the country after the Louvre. Just as soon as restructuring is finished) with its fabulously enormous and grand plaza. All museums free. Great weather, massive wind (natural air-condition, I call it). Wine (hey, it’s in Burgundy, of course the wine is great), fantastic food, lovely people, great places for people-watching (ruffles and lace are flavor of the month in Dijon). A superb market. Also mustard, gingerbread, cassis (blackcurrant) liqueur. Cassis, by the way, is the color of Dijon: trams, safety fences, hotel interiors – everything is in some shade of purple.
I’ll definitely be back. And I heartily recommend it to lovers of architecture, art, good food etc. Paris is great, of course, but there are so many wonderful places in France to visit that one can easily give it a miss. Vive Dijon!

  • Jackie b says:

Ah, summer…I am lucky enough to be having a second go at it this year. We left the sideways freezing rain in Oz and arrived in London yesterday to be greeted by sunshine.
The 2 dogs and cat are being looked after by housesitters and I suspect will be better behaved when we get back! But the whole point of animals is to spoil them, right?

  • Laurels says:

It’s been quite a while since I had a dog who wasn’t elderly and medicated, so Bruno looks fine to me. Our 14(!)-year-old Rott mix started shedding during a hot spell in April, I think, and like Lisa D’s cats, shows no signs of stopping. (Hi, Lisa!) His limping is painful to watch, but he still does his happy dance at mealtimes, and enjoys his “walks” (which nowadays rarely encompass more than the front yard), so we’re just feeding him pain pills and letting him decide when he’s had enough. Now I’m going to get weepy. Nope! It’s a lovely evening, and everything is fine, for now. I can still smell the jasmine out front, I have a DVR full of movies I’ve been meaning to watch, I have health coverage again, and my older nephew’s spending most of the summer here. Good times!

  • Lisa D says:

I live near the southern edge of Death Valley (and there’s a good reason for the name), so hot doesn’t begin to describe the weather here. I go to the grocery store just to stand in the frozen food aisle for relief. The feline furballs are shedding hairs at a rate that leaves clouds of stray strands wafting through the air, where they collect until they acquire enough mass to fall to the floor. If I thought I could manage it without freaking them out, I’d give ’em all a shave. As it is, I run the Furminator over them, until I have enough hair to knit a blankie, and they STILL SHED MORE HAIR. It’s a good thing I love ’em as much as I do, otherwise they’d be sporting full body buzz-cuts.

  • Laura says:

Our dog Henna took prednisolone for an immune system disorder for about six years. She was born sassy, but with the addition of the pred she turned into Miz Thang forever. She terrorized her two younger brother…but the best part was that she started catching mice. The pred made her hungry at first, and then she just liked doing it. I’d find her in the bathroom doorway, lying there like a Sphinx-she was a red Chow mix-with her tiny trophy between her front feet, and an imperious look on her face.

She also made my husband carry her up and down all the stairs. She’d walk to the foot of the stairs and give him a very arch look over her shoulder, and he’d sigh and stop whatever he was doing to be her elevator.
