Fetish Parfum by Roja Dove 2012 GIVEAWAY

Hey Posse gang, It’s getting cool down here in Sydney as you all get the warmth. We still have lovely sun filled days but our nights are cool, cool, cool. You probably are still having cool-ish mornings and nights too? Fetish Parfum is not really a cold weather fragrance, I think it’s aimed at warm spring or summer, but I like it best when there is a little nip in the air. The story unfolds more gradually and the base notes last an eternity.

Fetish Parfum by Roja Dove 2012

Fetish Parfum Roja Dove Fragrantica Photo Stolen Fragrantica

Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
Top: Bergamot, petitgrain
Heart: Rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine, tuberose
Base: Galbanum, cinnamon, cloves, cedar, oakmoss, patchouli, vetiver, castoreum, musk

Well, straight out of the Fetish Parfum gate I get galbanum backed up by a smigde of citrus, a twinkle in the background. Then as the twinkle fades and I get a very soft bouquet hiding behind the galbanum. After about an hour the galbanum recedes and I get lovely spicy clove and a slightly earthy vetiver with a whisper of salt and the whole fragrance steps away from CHANEL No 19 and becomes its own lovely self. The castoreum is a lovely soft feline growl in the background like you’re standing about 200 meters up the road from an Indian outdoor urinal, all the nasty has been removed by distance and all you get is a very sweet breath on the breeze.

Good projection and longevity, and for this price there certainly should be. To be absolutely honest, though Fetish Parfum is lovely, it’s not €395 lovely. Not for me anyway, that kind of money is way too hard to come by.

First In Fragrance has €395/50ml
Surrender To Chance has samples starting at $6.50/.25ml

If you liked this, why not come over and say hi to us all at Australian Perfume Junkies. We love visitors and would be thrilled to see you there too.

I had a small sample of Bond No. 9 Chinatown that I adored; too pricy for me right now, but maybe someday! Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Amy says:

The star of my tiny expensive scent collection (mainly samples and decants) is the coffret of Chanel perfumes I inherited from Mom, vintage mid-sixties. The only one she opened was the infamous No. 5–the rest (Cuir de Russie, No. 22, Bois de Iles) were still sealed! Boggles my mind, but Mom preferred light soloflores and Avon scents. Bois de Iles is my favorite. Should really wear them more often as they are all open now–but they will have to wait until summer is over–between the lack of A/C and the hot flashes they’d be wasted on me now. For now, I’m being quite extravagant with my Guerlain Eau Imperiale (rather expensive for something that’s as light as rosewater), because experience tells me this one has a short shelf life. Not Napoleon-level extravagant, yet…though perhaps before the summer is over. Mmm, petitgrain, rosemary, and tonka in my hair.

I just bought a smidge of Amouage Tribute….had to do it, because it is totally unique and irreplaceable. Also, a small decant of Mona di Orio’s Oud, though I’m afraid I might get too used to having it around and need another decant later. What to do? I am trying to resist getting a sample of OJ Black Gold right now. Have never tried any Roja Dove scents; I even try not to read the reviews, but this really sounds wonderful. Thanks for the draw!

  • Hello, on this topic, I would tell you my story concerning Pricy AND Tuberose perfumes….
I have a veeery strange relationship with tuberose perfumes… It is a whole saga!
Most of them made me feel out of place, high -pitched, superficial, loud and vulgar. I didn’t even went close to perfumes if warned being tuberose. Was convinced that they are everything I’m not… or I don’t want or like to be.
And… one day… Tried in a shop in Bucharest Narcotic Venus. No warnings before. But I detected THAT bad feeling that made me, till the moment, hate tuberose fragrances.
I left the shop in disgust. Hided my wrist in the sweater AND the coat, got in the car and hurried to drive to my hometown.
After about half an hour I detected a wonderful, bewitching smell in the car… identified it that it is sneaking out from my coat’s sleeve…
Minute after minute, the smell was more and more hypnotizing, made me want to eat my wrist. After about an hour I was knocked out….
I turned the car, drive back to Bucharest like a speed-maniac, arrived to the shop just in the minute they started to close it, parked the car in the most illegal way possible, ran to the shop, nearly broke the door, shouting not to close the shop until they don’t give me MY perfume.
Imagine the SA-s’ faces…(after my unliking comments a couple of hours before…)…. The cash-counter and POS was already closed… Rushed to an ATM, for money, rushed back to the shop…Took the bottle, paid it cash, didn’t even count the rest and popped out the shop like a victorious warrior… Didn’t even realize this was the priciest FB I ever bought.
Since then, I reconsidered my relationship with tuberose in particular and big white florals in general.

  • katrin says:

The most expensive perfume I bought was the vintage extrait of L’Heure Bleue. Unfortunately the thing never arrived and
instead I received a bottle of vintage Shalimar in EdT, which shouldn’t really cost half as much. The bottle is still in my closet,
    unopened. (I like Shalimar though).

  • jett says:

Expensive fragrance would be a bottle of vintage Cuir de Russie; still have some left and for the pleasure it gives me, it was a bargain.

  • Nemo says:

Currently, the priciest perfume on my covet list is TDC Rose Poivree, followed closely by l’Air du Desert Marocain 🙂 I am sure as I continue to try perfumes that are even pricier, even Rose Poivree will start to look like a bargain!

  • puhfume says:

I think the priciest perfume I’ve tried is Frederic Malle’s Carnal Flower. Such beautiful tuberose but longevity and sillage is not that great on me. So I still can’t justify a purchase.

  • Peppermoon says:

I have yet to buy anything expensive in full bottle form, as I’m still on a college sophomore’s shoestring budget. But thanks to sampling websites, kind internet strangers and reluctant SA’s, I’ve been able to sample a good amount of scents (for someone my age). Since I only get small samples, I’m not sure of the ex sniff, only the general price range/quality level. I do feel more decadent when I’m wearing a Kilian or Tom Ford rather than an Estee Lauder, but I have yet to try anything in the realm of Roja Dove. I would love to enter!

  • dinazad says:

There was this invitation to Osswald’s (local superduper perfume place, now with a branch in NYC) for an introduction to the newest Roja Dove stuff. With Roja present. I rarely turn down any occasion to imbibe champagne somebody else has paid for, so off I went with the Marquise. (Mega-stylish friend of mine. Every time I hit the shops with her, SAs flock around us. Or around her. Me, I’m the one who holds the coats and bags while the Marquise is pampered. Generally, I find this amusing.). The place was packed. It took us half an hour to get hold of that champagne. We sniffed the Roja Doves – Enigma for Men and women, both with the same ingredients in different amounts. inspired, so we were told, by a boobylicious young lady of Roja’s acquaintance and – presumably – somebody like the very nice young man named Vincent who was charming the fringes of the crowd. Quite nice scents, but a bit on the pricey side (I preferred the men’s version).
Then Roja was introduced: large ring, silk cravat, purple velvet jacket, etc. etc. Chaahming he was. Told us about the enigmas And about his birthday. And about the extra-superduper new scent (not the Enigmas) he has created to celebrate it and which would be available to the select few who ordered it right on the spot. He was feeling that generous because of his birthday. It was in a white box. He loves white. And the box wasn’t just any box, it was lacquered like a piano, in several wonderfully expensive and marvellous layers. Also, the box was lined with white silk Crepe de Chine. Because he likes white. And because the first shirt he bought himself and had to pay off for three months, was white silk Crepe de Chine. The bottle. Crystal, natch. Finest crystal. Pure gold label. Especially made Swarovski crystals on the (golden? gilded?) cap in a special shade of purple. So the cap would look like his massive ring. And because he loves purple. The bottle would nest in the white Crepe de Chine in the piano-lacquered white box. And in the bottle would be the juice. With little flecks of pure gold in it. Which is the cheapest ingredient in there, because only the costliest and best ingredients could grace Rojas birthday scent (in a crystal bottle with a gold label, nestled in white silk Crepe de Chine in a piano-lacquered white box). (No mention was made of the hundred pure virgins weaving the silk, the dwarves hewing the crystals from the walls of the caves in “Swarovski-World” or the fairies and elves presiding over production). Sighhhhh. Vincent would spray anybody who stood in line with the precious juice, gold flecks and all. And then we could subscribe.
Well, I got sprayed. And, curiously enough, it did not knock my socks off (the drydown was superb, though. And longlasting). Especially not at a prospective price of a measly 3000 Swiss Francs per bottle (that would be slightly more in dollars). The Marquise wasn’t particularly impressed either. Besides, what would one do with the gold label, extra-special Swarovski crystals, Crepe de Chine (silk) and piano-lacquered box once the perfume was gone? All that was just extra-expensive trash. I’m too practical for this kind of thing, I suspect….. But at least we got a glass of champagne out of it. Can’t wait for the next event!

And thank you, no need to put me in the draw – I just wanted to tell my story…. 😉

  • I have a few things I love that are too spendy for me to even think about having a full bottle. The Lutens bell jars, for example. I would happily own Boxeuses and Iris Silver Mist (and probably a few others) if money allowed. Amouage Memoir Woman (only had a decant). Frederic Malle Musc Ravageur (actually one of the more reasonably priced FMs, but still…) and Iris Poudre. I have a 10ml travel spray of MR that I got in a split, and I just got a 5ml manufacturer’s mini of IP from STC. I wore Iris Poudre yesterday, and I smelled pretty fabulous.

    • Almost forgot.. I had a 5ml decant of Roja Dove Enigma pour Homme. I wasn’t terribly impressed with it, so I swapped it. I don’t know the price of it, since it doesn’t seem to be available anymore, but the other “Pour Hommes” seem to run $350-450 or so, so I’ll take that as the range I would expect. That might be the most expensive I’ve ever sampled.

  • Caroline says:

The most expensive frag I’ve sampled is Irisss. Really lovely, but for over $700, I’ll stick with Serge’s ISM. Heck, even La Pausa makes Irisss seem like a bargain!

  • Kandice says:

Unfortunately being on a strict budget I can only afford samples and decants of anything I love. I’m currently longing for a bottle of Grandiflora’s Magnolia Michel but even that’s out of my price range. However, I do occassionally buy expensive perfume for others. I bought my mom Chanel No. 5 for Christmas. I’ve bought her several other perfumes that sit on her dresser. But this she has worn several times since she received it. She said it reminds her of when she was young and wearing Chanel and makes her happy. For that reason alone, it’s definitely worth the price. Thanks for the draw – would love to try this as that’s probably as close as I’ll ever get to Roja Dove’s perfumes 🙂

  • Ellen says:

I’ve always wanted to try that line, but it is too pricey for me. I’m meant to admire it from afar, unless I get lucky here.

  • Sara says:

The most expensive perfume I’ve tried was, coincidentally enough, at Roja Dove’s Haute Parfumerie at Harrods. I think the sales assistant (fabulously camp, who fluttered his eyelashes and held on to something for support whenever he mentioned ‘dahhhling Roja’) was pleased to see someone who actually loved perfume, rather than the heiresses and banker’s wives who littered the place, and who were only interested in smelling expensive and fashionable. He let me try a dab of Roja Dove Semi Bespoke No. 5 and it was the richest, most unctuous thing I have ever smelled. It would have been handy to have a sling to attach my wrist to my face for the rest of the day. Alas, at £1000 a bottle, it has remained but a memory…

  • Monoatomic says:

Amouage Lyric – which I oddly am wearing today!

  • Audrey says:

Most expensive is Andy Tauer maroc por Elle. Love it. It was worth every penny !!!

  • rosarita says:

This sounds lovely, galbanum is one of my favorites. Perfume prices are so out of reach for me anymore that I really have no snippet, that’s why swapping is so helpful… that said, when I was still working, I went mad on eBay for a bottle of vintage Shalimar extrait that’s my most pricy perfume. It’s heavenly.

  • Connie says:

DSH’s new recreation of Iris Gris. I am lusting after it, but it’s maybe $22 a mL? I might be remembering wrong, but it was prohibitive (for me).

  • Andi says:

I love my Les Larmes Sacrees de Thebes…… so much that I don’t wear it!

  • Neva says:

Ok, I’m a vintage perfume lover. Born in the 60-ies, so my “vintage” begins in the 70-ies, to be precise. Back then I used to know practically everything that was available on the Western European market.. Yes, back then I had so much time for my little pleasures and then real life kicked in…
Not so long ago I discovered that I can find some of my long lost and forgotten perfume loves out there on the internet and ever since then I’ve been spending money on buying vintage perfume I love. No more clothes, no more shoes, no more holidays (ok, that’s a joke 😉 I don’t know if the money I spend is considered “much” (you perfume lovers know what I mean), but most of the time when I’m asked by my friends about the price of my “trophys” – I am lying!!!! They are much too expensive for the few drops which sometimes smell, well, suspicious. Anyway, I’m still very excited whenever I find someting interesting to bid on and in most cases, I’m kissing the postman when he brings me the package 🙂
The most expensive by now were Jil Sander Woman III and the old Armani, of which I have bought more than one bottle. Not to mention the shipping costs from the most exotic places on Earth, since I live in a small country which is a tiny marketplace for any kind of perfume. And I’m just beginning to discover niche fragrances…

  • Sherri says:

Hmm. an expensive perfume snippet..other than some rare Guerlains (which I rationalize still have the same or greater resale value), I think Amouage Beloved is my most expensive purchase. It was a gift, and imho worth every penny. Amouage makes amazing products! Expensve bottle I’m not sure warranted the price: L’artisan Skin on Skin. Very nice and sensual, but it has very poor lasting power (about 4-5 hours best) for something so expensive! I feel like I got cheated somehow.

    • Portia says:

WOW! Sherri, how interesting is that. For a L’Artisan 4-5 hours is really long. From Skin on Skin I can still smell it next morning when I wake up. Usually I’m upset about longevity issues. Funny how chemistry works, isn’t it?
      Portia xx

  • Elia says:

I’ve tried Fetish Pour Homme which is gorgeous so I do wonder how this one compares.
My most desired expensive perfume is Vetiver Extrait. Finally got myself a couple of ml, and I suspect if I get through it I’ll bite the bullet and buy a bottle, expensive as it is.
Last time i got tempted by the truly expensive was by Party in Manhattan. No decant availability, limited availability, etc, kinda make the blood rush to the head a bit faster…
I got vintage Mitsouko instead. Party is that little bit better, but hey vtg Mitsouko is lovely, and practicality keeps me fed 🙂

  • Jackie b says:

I can answer this question, but then I would have to kill you.
My first expensive purchase was Amouage Epic, absolutely no regrets. Then Jubilation.
Then La Pausa but couldn’t decide between it and Cuir de Russie so got both. Then I found Clive Christian X, yep, had to have that too…
Have to stop now, feeling faint.

  • Jennifer Smith says:

Once I got a sample of DSH Mata Hari ( think I won a drawing) . As one of the Outlaw perfumes it is gorgeous!!! I still have some ( as I only allow myself a wearing when I can pay attention to it and enjoy it’s phases and not miss any due to a cold or allergy. I love it and WANT a bottle , no . I don’t either.
I want a Lot of bottle(s) of this! Unfortunately for me my wallet has other plans. At something like $20 plus shipping for a SAMPLE 1 ML VIAL . It wasn’t happening . At least not unless Publishers comes to the door with a check or some unknown relative that’s fabulously wealthy kicks the bucket leaving me shocked and rich. Or til I actually decide to focus on ONE pricey LOVE and Save for it. Ugh! And me with the attention span of a .. Oooh look squirrel !

  • Jennie says:

I only have two pricey fragrances in my collection, both of which I acquired at a perfume warehouse sale (what luck!). At the first sniff of Amouage Gold and Amouage Dia for women I had to have them both, and so purchased a very classy travel set of each for a VERY reasonable price. I feel sophisticated to the max when I wear these two deluxe beauties. I am not normally inclined to spend mega dollars on fragrance, but when you are presented with an opportunity like that you just go for it.

  • Elena says:

I’m intrigued, I love a good wallop of galbanum. I remember trying Clive Christian V in Neiman’s a while back, and the siren call of a huge commission must have overcome the SA’s better sense, because she gave me a hard sell where usually I am ignored in that store, as I do not have the right look to get their attention. (That sounded a bit bitter, but I don’t mind; they’re right, I don’t have the income to just spend $200 on a whim. I plan out my purchases carefully, and I’m just there to sniff around anyway so I’d rather be left alone to play.) It seemed to be good stuff, but honestly at that price I was uninterested because it was just so expensive that I just couldn’t justify owning it even if I fell in love, so why let myself be smitten?
