Fall New Perfume Releases 2014

Fall New Perfume Releases 2014, it’s almost time to really think about them, isn’t it?  I perused the release page at Now Smell This to see what’s coming out, and here’s a few that intrigue me.

Annick Goutal Vent de Folie – sounds like sweet pea mostly, which I like.

By Kilian Intoxicated, Light My Fire and Smoke for the Soul – all part of a new series called Addictive State of Mind.  Cigars, cannabis and Turkish coffee. Okay, I’ll be biting on those.  Are they done with Garden of Good and Evil?

Hermessence Cuir d’Ange – new one in the Hermessence line, delicate leathers.  I hope my home slice Jean-Claude doesn’t make them so delicate they disappear.

Penhaligon’s Trade Routes – Empress, Lovantium and Lothair.  Tea, rum and pearls and precious fabrics. I’m intrigued for sure. When Penhaligon’s goes off their formula, they tend to get it right most of the time or at least way interesting.

Serge Lutens L’Incendiare – no clue what this one is about, but assume smoke and incense?  Tobacco?  I haven’t read anything yet in particular, but I also haven’t looked.

Tauer Sotto la Luna Gardenia – can’t wait for this.  Due out in September, I’m really anxious to see what Andy does with gardenia.

Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium – including this with very little hope, except they are throwing coffee in, which could be amazing, as long as they don’t punk out.    Apparently this won’t show up here until 2015, but I’m hoping ebay will be throwing out some European release bottles after it launches in September.

I was hoping to talk about that new Arquiste thingie today, but it hasn’t shown up yet, so maybe next week if it’s released!

I left out tons and tons of other flankers mainstream lines. These are just the ones due out still this year that I’m waiting for impatiently. What are you guys most interested in?  Of these or other perfumes you know that are due to launch fall 2014?

  • Kandice says:

I love gardenia so I’m interested in the new Tauer. Also Kilian makes one of my all-time favorite fragrances so it will be interesting to see what’s coming out next. I wasn’t crazy about In the Garden of Good and Evil so maybe I’ll find something I’ll like better in the new line.

  • Janice says:

I’m looking forward to Hermessence Cuir d’Ange, but seconding your hope that it’s not too delicate and well-behaved!

  • Definitely looking forward to the Serge and the By Killian’s sound quite good – wasn’t a huge fan of the last series though. I’m hoping that the Hermes Cuir may be interesting – but I suspect it will be too wispy for my liking. The Opium is out in France so the next time I’m in a perfume store I am definitely trying this out. No great expectations though. Also I’m keen to try Andy Tauer’s Gardenia. It seems to be getting polarising reviews (the review on Kafkaesque was not favourable at all) – but most of his fragrances work for me.

  • Sherri says:

I’m looking forward to Guerlain Les Charnel Elixirs French Kiss (I thought it was due out the end of August, but I’ll have to call BG next week to check). I won’t buy blind this time, after Floral Romantique, which was a total disappointment. Guerlain is describing it as a “glossy floral”, so that’s interesting. I didn’t know about the new Goutal, but that sounds interesting, though again, I have not cared for a Goutal since Mon Parfum Cherie par Camille. I’d love a delicate leather scent,as you said, if we can still smell it after the master of sheer finishes it. I’m not fond of any of the Kilian notes, though I normally love the brand. I also want to try Byredo Mojave Ghost (Byredos work well for me) and anything new by Micallef.

  • solanace says:

Uncle Serge´s, for sure! I´m curious about the Kilians, too. Smoke for the soul sounds like something that could be really delicious, and the name is great.

    • Julie L says:

Ummm…smoke for the soul? sounds lovely. I haven’t had the opportunity to try ANYTHING from Kilian or Serge…..gotta get with those someday, especially any of their incense perfumes. I just know I’ll love them and can’t buy, though 🙁

      • solanace says:

        Hey Julie,
Unlike, say, the Chanel exclusifs, Lutens perfumes are quite strong and tenacious, so you can have a lot of fun with a small decant. Same thing with some Kilians. A few dabs of Back to Black are enough to make me feel great for an entire day! Of course, I want that gorgeous black bottle with all my soul, but I´m just happy I can wear the juice, because it truly is that great. 🙂

  • Dina C. says:

I’m most interested in one that you didn’t mention: Acqua di Parma Rosa Nobile. I like their scents, so I’m looking forward to this one. The Penhaligon’s tea scent makes my ears and nose perk up a bit, too. I’m really looking forward to sniffing some new things soon…I’m way behind on new releases.

  • FeralJasmine says:

I was frantic to try the Sotta la Luna, but unfortunately my samples arrived a few days ago and it is, hands down, the worst thing I’ve smelled all year. I was crushed. I have been daydreaming about a beautiful new gardenia, so now I am trying to turn my attention to other new possibilities. I will probably try the By Kilians and the Penhaligons.

  • thegoddessrena says:

I’ve already preordered the Tauer gardenia. It is very, very good and very true

  • Caroline says:

Patty, because you mentioned it, I tried Creed Iris Tubereuse last week and liked it–too bad it’s packaged in such a huge bottle.
I like gardenia, but have been apprehensive about the Tauer line since a traumatic experience with one of them (don’t recall which). Want to try the upcoming Hermes, BV and Jil Sander. Have a feeling the Goutal may be too tame, but it’s worth a shot!

  • Lisa D says:

Oddly, it’s the Black Opium I’m most excited about.Opium with coffee? I’m in.

    • Julie L says:

I’m excited about this one, too!

      • Lisa D says:

Julie L – Right? I wore Opium waaay back in the day, and tend to avoid it now because of its strong association with a particular time period – but if it were changed up enough, and with COFFEE, I could be lured back to it.

  • Donna S says:

Tauer’s Sotto la Luna Gardenia is gorgeous. I have sampled that and it is as if you ARE a gardenia. I’ve truly never experienced anything so pure with a scent before. It’s fabulous.

  • rosarita says:

I just got a sample of Imaginary Authors Yesterday Haze and it’s a fig tonka thingy, very nice. I am considering a bottle.
