gmail your evilauntieanita(AT) and give me your details.  I’ll get these goodies out to you pronto !

Now.  On to lemons!  This is a quickie because I’ve already chewed up all the space in the blogosphere but here:  we’ve had some odd weather lately.  It was broiling hot awhile back – that kind of wet, oppressive heat that sucks all the air out of your lungs and leaves you gasping, like a landed cod.   Then we had Monsoon.  The type of rains that drop 6″ on you in 24 hours – a town just south of us was completely flooded out!  Everything was soaking wet and nothing, NOTHING! stuck to my skin except Avon Skin So Soft because the total saturation also spawned a bazillion mosquitos, gnats and other bitey things.  I wore Amouage Tribute attar one day and do you know? that stuff was GAWN! in under an hour.  Which has to be some sort of record.  I mean, TRIBUTE?  GONE?  Somebody call 9-1-1 !!! But the Weather Gods are smiling upon us once again and it’s a lovely 78F, with sparkling sunshine and gentle breezes.  It’s the perfect time to break out the Lemons and Other Citrus!  And things that may not actually be lemons and Other Citrus but are evocative of that (at least in my skitter mind).  I won’t waste a lot of time here – I’mo just list a couple because I am more interested in what Lemons and Other Citrus (or scents evocative of that) you might be spritzing right now.  Plus, there is a Japanese Beetle caught in my hair (ew!) and I have to go pull him out and flush him down the toilet (flushdon’tsquish because if ‘him’ is a ‘her’ and you squish, the pheromones released will draw countless males to the area.  sigh.

So here are the ones I can wear, now that it’s below 90!

Chanel 1932 (omg how I love it SO VERY MUCH and it’s perfect for 70F weather!)

Fresh Lemon Sugar (with the copper top – not quite as sweet as later iterations)

Bel Respiro (not a lemon to be had therein but it feels lemony)

Rosine Rose d’Ete

Agraria Bitter Orange cologne (Other Citrus)

TDC’s Sublime Balkiss (okay.  OKAY!  It’s berries.  But.  OKAY!  Jeez. 😉

Jean Nate splash because it’s Summer!  Is there anything Summerier?

What works for you in these clement temps?  Let me know.  The Girl wants to exercise her manicure again so we’ll pick a couple of winners and she’ll pull some stuff from the Messy Armoire!  I’ve been pretty good about getting stuff out (at least I hope I have) so drop a line and we’ll have some fun!

  • Ingeborg says:

Ô de Lancôme is very fresh, but not something I own. A grapefruit and rhubarb scent has seen frequent use during summer. Where I am we would have liked a bit more heat, Funny that, the heat is never evenly distributed.

  • maggiecat says:

Chanel 1932 is perfect for all kinds of weather, but it’s lovely in the heat-blasted hell that is North Texas in summer. AG Eau d’Hadrien is a staple, and Dame Perfumery Monsoon and Earth Mother are new loves I can’t get enough of, Is it Fall yet?

  • crystesmom says:

LOL!!! No. 19 is the chilliest b*tch I know!

  • Kate E. says:

I really love Diptyque Eau des Sens, Guerlain Eau de Shalimar, and Byredo Blanche right now (we’ve been ranging from 97-105 for the highs here). We’re not growing anything this summer–last summer saw everything get burned to a crisp and we’ve just been too busy to try.
Your beetle-squish story made me shudder!!

  • lena says:

It’s rather cold (relatively speaking, for Australia – I know it’s nothing compared to what some of you experience in parts of the northern hemisphere during winter) here in Melbourne, but a citrus I love for warmer weather is Eau d’Hadrien. And though it’s more minty than citrusy, Herba Fresca is always refreshing in the higher temps. Hope the Weather Gods continue to smile upon you 🙂

  • MilasMinion says:

I’ve not been feeling the citrus lately. On a vanilla kick and knocking it out with Vanille Insensee (which does have that little squeeze of lime).

  • Neva says:

It’s a hot summer in South Europe but with enough rain so I don’t have to water the garden like crazy. I’ve been wearing the new You or Someone Like You by ELDO because it’s fresh and has very good lasting power. Also the Rituals body mist Sweet Orange & Cedar feels great for daytime.

  • HeidiC says:

Summery citrus for me is Pamplelune, Neroli Portofino, or Fleurs d’Oranger! I’m also really digging the light, peppery melon of Parfum d’Therese lately.

  • MrsDalloway says:

Wore Le Galion Eau Noble today- it’s really beautiful and surprisingly long-lived. Whip is very good too. Now in vintage Diorissimo for the evening!

  • monika says:

Here are my “go to” fragrances: Kai, Byredo Blanche, Byredo Flowerhead, FM Carnal Flower… And I bring out my last few drops of Rive Gauche!

  • Miriam says:

TDC Divine Bergamote is glorious and fresh.

Other hot weather favorites: Mito is a new favorite, Zeta one I’m revisiting. L’ artisan The pour une ete is a cool glass of Jasmine tea.

  • Audrey H. says:

Im so excited to see my name listed, I had to double check I saw correctly haha Thanks for the happy treat! It’s pretty hot here lately and Im using a mini of Hermes Sur le nil so much my DH ordered a fb for me as an anniversary gift. Thanks again for the delightful giveaway! 🙂

  • Mals86 says:

It’s still hot and muggy here but not into the 90s, thank goodness. Totally with you on the 1932 (I now have a little piece of each concentration of it, though the edt decant is down to drops) and the Rose d’Ete.

Also, Silences pdt. And that $9 bottle of Eliz Arden Green Tea Yuzu I bought at TJ Maxx last summer on a total whim; it works like cologne in that it smells nice and is gone in like 12 minutes.

I hate them Japanese beetles, lawd yes. Taz went with me to my parents’ house yesterday and spent two hours in the heat pulling English ivy off the bricks of the house… then came inside to show us how his arm muscles were all pumped up. “See, my veins are all sticking out!” (Sixteen. Just got his driver’s license. Prepared to finally be the only kid in the house, once Gaze heads out to college in a month. Oh my head.)

  • AnnieA says:

For hot weather there is a bottle of Madragore in the fridge.

  • rosarita313 says:

Argh those pesky Japanese beetles! The iridescence is beautiful tho, I used to ponder how to make earrings out of them.
My weather has been like yours with less rain, it all went south of us. I’ve been wearing lots of Shalimar of different strengths and eras and the edc is wonderfully lemony. Can’t recall at the moment if you are a Shalimar fan or not, Ms A, since Mitsy is your Guerlain girl, probably not.

  • ScentSpirit says:

The Aqua Allegorias work for me in the hottest weather. And Orange Sanguine, Mistral Patchouli and Mandarine Glaciale if I want to spray more frequently.

  • Nicole says:

It’s super hot and quite humid where I’m living, and I just tried a sample of Annick Goutal Eau d’Hadrien for the first time. It’s definitely the most lemony scent I’ve ever had, but it was very refreshing!

  • tiffanie says:

Citrus makes me happy. 4711 and Cologne due 68 are my top citrusy scents lately. I splash or spritz absentmindedly and always feel comfortable in them.

I like the smell of Skin So Soft. Reminds me is summers with my grandma. She was an ardent Avon-ista.

Sorry about the bug in the hair! Same thing happened to my sister when we were out shopping the other day. She has very long hair and it took some time to disentangle. Eep!

  • tandaina says:

I cannot beat Shalimar Souffle for lemon. It’s creamy lemon pie. I love it in summer, though in truly horrific heat it might be too sweet.

  • verbenaluvvr says:

The lightest freshest most hot weather lemon scent ever…. L’Occitane citrus verbena

  • Taxi says:

My hot weather standbys are Hermes Orange Verte, Eau de Cedra, Vetiver pour Elle, HdP Colette, 4711.

  • Tiara says:

Here in SW Ohio, we’ve had pretty much the same weather but this past weekend was gorgeous. Enjoyed it while we could since we’re heading into very hot and humid weather. Terracota Voile D’Ete, Chanel 1932, Songes, Wit, and the occasional spritz of Sun (Jil Sander) have all had skin time. On those brutally hot days, Escale a Portofino is refreshing. Just wish it lasted longer.
