What’s your EBP? Spring (or almost) edition

EBP
As you all probably know by now, EBP isn’t some kind of official-speak, as in, “Hey, Joe, what’s your ETA to the next delivery stop?” It stands for emergency backup perfume, and it was coined by lovely Posse reader AnnieA, commenting on one of my posts several years ago. It’s something a lot of us probably do without even thinking about it: We apply a scent at home, then put the spray or vial or mini bottle into to-go mode and head out the door. And after a busy day or week — or in my case, sometime even months ? — we forget to take them all back out again.

Now that we (at least some of us) are into spring, it’s time to share our current samplings.

As for me and my EBPs, I’ve been trying out Armani Prive Bleu Lazuli and liking it, but need to spend a bit more time with it. Also revisiting two old favorites: the bright and lovely green of Maison Martin Margiela’s Untitled, which could be an earthier sister to Chanel’s Cristalle; and the sweet and a little spicy season-spanning sprite that is Si Lolita de Lempicka. And as I mentioned in a previous post, I’m trying to use my rare (and diminishing) lovelies, including Chanel Bois des Iles.

What about you? Do have a peek at the bottoms of your purses, backpacks, briefcases, etc., and share your emergency backup perfume: What vials, decants, bottles, etc., are rolling around in there?

And, as always, a word of caution: I try to keep my EBP items in a plastic zip-top baggie (a plastic-lined makeup bag would do nicely) in a feeble attempt at organization, but also mostly because I’m deathly afraid of leakage. Having once had the lining of a handbag stained this way, I’m not eager for a repeat performance. And it is nice to have your scent choices all together and see them at a glance, instead of spread out all loosey-goosey in the bottom of your purse, which is what I used to do, before said accident.

Have a great week, everyone, and stay warm (or cool, as the case may be)!!

    Hey Ann,
Just went and looked in my messenger bag. Nothing. I’m appalled. Making up a little baggie of things tonight.

I have the incredible luxury of having a bathroom stash of perfume and a supply at my desk at work! We have a small perfume club at work and I am constantly ferrying samples from my stash to work and back. Right now in my bag is a sample of Papillon Anubis for my friends to try. I already love it! I did not think I would like a leather perfume – how wrong I was 🙂

Decants of Earth Mother from Dame Perfumery abound in both desk and purse here.

Still in winter mode over here. I have a few decants in my desk: TF Violet Blonde, Iris Celadon, Tea For Two, L’Envol

Oooh, that MMM Untitled sounds gorgeous! I’ll have to find a sample to sniff. I’ve been on a green kick too, and my current EBPs are Silences and Scherrer No 1, along with the always-present Mitsouko. I’ve also been trying to use up disappearing lovelies and have been taking advantage of the recent snow to wear depleting samples of Chanel’s Cuir de Russie and vintage Vol de Nuit.

I’m probably the only person who doesn’t carry around an EBP as most scents last forever on my skin. Sitting here eating breakfast and still smelling yesterday’s scent, Chanel No.19 EdT. Now if I could only get my foundation to last half as long as my scent when I do my makeup.
I also like Maison Martin Margiela Untitled but never really thought about what it seems related to. You’re right, it does feel like a more sun warmed, earthy version of Cristalle.

as you prolly know I always have a vial of vintage No5 in my bag – but come Spring I also throw in a vial of 1932. 1932 is the ultimate definition of Spring!

Of course, right now we’re under 4″ of wet, heavy snow – so who knows if we’ll ever even see Spring. le sigh.

    xoxoxo

I saw a Facebook meme that reflects our pain: the cartoon character is sputtering “Spring has sprung? How friggin’ far did it go?”

  • AnnieA says:

Just about time to switch over bags for the new season. Maybe I will switch out the all winter Smell Bent Cocoa Rose. Go, spring!

  • I don’t always have an EBP but right now Le Labo Iris 39 is living in my purse. I recently fell madly in love with it.
