Nut ‘n honey Monday (but hold the coffee)

nut honey
Howdy, lovely Posse folks! I had planned some fun sniffing in the last few days and then to report back, but alas, between a slew of last-minute projects, pre-college bumps and hoops for my h.s. senior, and a dear friend’s hospitalization, I’ve been run a bit ragged and am hopelessly behind. So I’m sorry to say that I got nut n’ honey for you guys this week.

But I’d love to hear what you’re wearing, eating or drinking and enjoying right now.

And speaking of honey, although I’m sure it’s lovely in some fragrances, I’ve decided that I do NOT care for it in my coffee (although I’ve found that it can be quite nice in some teas).

I recently tried a nut and honey flavored coffee creamer and the honey note in my java was definitely off-putting; it practically jumped up out of my cup and tweaked me in the nose. I taped a note on the bottle saying that it was up for grabs and stuck it in my office fridge for others to use. A few folks seemed to really like it, but no more of that for me! I’ll stick to my all-time faves of salted caramel and good ol’ French vanilla. Although now that it’s coming into pumpkin spice season, I might dip my coffee toe into a bit of that.

So do share what you’ve been up to this weekend, how your September/late summer/early-ish fall is going so far, your school-kid woes, your favorite coffee creamer flavors, and yes, your best fragrances containing nut and/or honey notes.

I spent the weekend at the Fulton Market Harvest Festival, helmed by Chef Stephanie Izard. I am in a food coma (with a hint of alcohol overload) – potatoes fried in duck fat, shortrib & bone marrow dumplings, pork belly jam…I don’t need to eat again for a week! in fact, I’m not sure I could! lol!

Honey in coffee sounds terrifying! I am a cream (actual cream) and sugar girl, so all I ask of coffee is that it be strong and not bitter. One of classes offered this weekend was by Dark Matter Coffee, a niche coffee company that was just a bit too far above my pay grade (they are the type of folks who look at you real funny if you put cream/sugar in your coffee). I can’t imagine what they would’ve said to the notion of HONEY in coffee! lol!

Fond of Uncle Serge’s Miele De Bois. And the original Perlier Miele Hand Cream.

Busy time of year, combined with the massive effort required to get my head back into my work, after a vacation that wasn’t all that… However, the garden is going mad with tomatoes, eggplant and zucchini, so you can guess what we are eating, lol! I made some superb pesto with a mix of arugula and basil, and toasted walnuts. Bought a nice decant of Amouage Ubar, and am wearing it a lot. Honey is good in tea; not convinced it needs to be a perfume note–for me, anyway.

Weekends will be from now until mid November devoted to college applications for the last of my three to go. I don’t use coffee creamer but I do enjoy honey with tea. I will vote for Phlur Hanami with a hazelnut note for my favorite nutty perfume.

I tried Hiram Green’s Slowdive this summer — very honey-riffic! I’ve also tried a drink called a Café Miel, which is essentially a cappuccino with honey, and I thought it was very nice!

Does Dior’s Hypnotic Poison count? I always get a nut vibe when I smell it, and it’s one of my faves for the Fall/Winter. I get loads of compliments when I wear it!
