Happy birthday, Coco Chanel!!

Wishing a happy birthday to iconic designer Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, who would be celebrating her 136th birthday this week! In honor of her, let’s talk about our favorite fragrances of hers.

I have always been a fan of the original Coco and Cristalle since back in my college and early career days, and still enjoy wearing them. And there’s no doubt I’ve fallen in love with several of her (relatively) newer scents as well. Bois des Iles, Eau de Cologne, Coromandel, Cuir de Russie, 1932 and 1957 are favorites from among the Les Exclusifs collection. I’ve found the 1957 to work especially well in my new retail gig. And the Eaux line is so lovely and easy to wear, especially Biarritz and Venise.

Every few months or so, I go back and forth at the Chanel site, putting the Bois des Iles extrait in my cart, and then changing my mind. Maybe I’ll go ahead and do it in late fall as a birthday/early Christimas gift to myself. Unless I talk myself out of spending the $$$ again, ha!

What about you? What are your favorite Chanel fragrances? Or what scents do you want to try?

Love #5 perfume and Cuir de Russe, but all Chanel smells a little like honey to me. Can always tell if it’s Chanel.

I’m very much a Chanel girl. I’m a huge fan of No 19, 22, and Bois des Iles. Sycomore is also gorgeous. Lately I’ve fallen for No 5, something I thought would never happen. It began by just scenting my purse with a card each time I passed the Chanel counter. Now my No 5 stash is as big as my No 19 stash and I’m wearing the vintage pretty regularly. Very excited to try Les Eaux soon!

I have love for Coco, No. 19, Bois des Iles, Cristalle, 31 rue Cambon. I like the Paris-Venise scent it’s so easy to wear.

I wore Coco! I love me some Coco…. I think she would have loved it too.

Trying a short comment to see if it posts, my comments quit posting recently. Y’all know I love Chanel.

  • Musette says:

you know I live in No5 (the edt and perfume – the edp isn’t for me). And I love 1932. SO. MUCH. Also the gorgeous Eau de Cologne (which has a lighter, fresher vibe than 1932, but with a similar feel to the notes). CdR extrait in Autumn is GLORIOUS!

Chanel is my favorite house — just works well for me — so I have many favorites. Particularly love No. 19 edp and edt. Also a big fan of Jacques Polge’s creations: 31 Rue Cambon, 1932, Bel Respiro, Eau Premiere, Cristalle eau Verte, 28 La Pausa, and Sycomore. From the older classics I love Bois des Iles, Cuir de Russie and Cristalle edt, No. 5 parfum. I own nine of these.

My first Chanel loves were Cuir de Russie and no 19. My love of no 5 and Sycomore came shortly after. My most recent love is Coromandel and rumor has it that they are going to release an extrait of it.

Mmmm…Coco, Cuir de Russie, and No 19 are my faves, though I also toy with buying Cristalle Vert. I really want to sniff Sycamore, but haven’t had the chance yet.

  • Maggiecat says:

I’m also a Chanel junkie…er, fan. I love the new Eaux and own Venise, Deauville, and Riviera. I also own Coco Noir, 1932, and No. 5 Eau Premiere. If love to sniff Bois des Iles again too. I live near Dallas – maybe I have to find my way to that boutique…

  • Kathleen says:

I am a confirmed Chanel fan and I’ve worn Coco since the 1980s. My favorite Chanels include of course Coco, and No 5, No 22, Bois des Isles, Coromandel, Misia, 1932, 1957, No 18, No 19 Powder, Cuir de Russie, Coco Noir, Une Fleur in no particular order. And now a fan of Venise. I love Chanel perfume, my favorite House.
I as well am considering Bois des Isles extrait. I am going to visit a Chanel boutique in Dallas in a couple of weeks, and will buy something. I’ve narrowed it down to Bois des Isles extrait or Cuir de Russie edp.

My favorites from the regular line are Chanel No. 5 and Chanel No. 19 Poudre. My favorites from the Exclusif line are Bois des Isles and Boy.
