SOTD 10.4.2020

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is youโ€™ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else SOTD choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and Perfume Posse people love to chat. We like to keep it fragrant but there’s always room for life events and adventures too. This is our place to share how we smell, live, love, eat, work, raise kids and pets and get on with the business of living.

Perfume Posse SOTD

SOTD 10.4.2020

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz. Whenever you feel the mood take you, share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at Perfume Posse, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your SOTD comment. Then you can reply to them, and so on.

Go To It Crew.

Enjoying my Lumberjack Cologne by Stranger’s Perfumerie. It’s all cedary, lemony, and woodsy.

  • Brigitte says:

Oh and I have also been using the heck out of the Nivea tin that pl67 sent for my birthday as it’s an amazing hand cream and it’s the smell of my childhood. I really wish I had access to the EDT or a scent mule. And I really DO miss our APJ gang ( Cassie, back me up here! Lol ๐Ÿ™‚ )

    • Brigitte says:

Portia, this 93 pound old peanut is gonna wear you down LOL ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Cassieflower says:

Who called for backup? Iโ€™m just running to get my gun. Wait up!
Waah waah waah, a heap of the family are missing. Insert very sad face right here.

    • Portia says:

      Brigitte and Cassieflower,
If the APJ gang had come here then we’d all be together. I can’t help it if they only liked it there. They clearly didn’t care about hanging out with US. Only a few have drifted over. It is really heartbreaking for me.
As if I’d got back to all that work for people who couldn’t even cross over.
      Sorry loves.
      We are here now.

  • Brigitte says:

Aside from my mom insane sprays of Bal I took a shower this morning and washed my hair and body with an early birthday present from Kathleen. Paris Deauville Shampoo and body wash. Holy smokes! It’s amazing! Now I want the EDT LOL ?

  • Cassieflower says:

Teint de Neige. Powder, oh yeahhh. Big.

  • Portia says:

Last night before bed I spritzed on some Montale Aoud Zafaran from a decant. It went on with a screechy chemical plant accident citrus note that made me sneeze. I was reading and every now and again quite late into the night I’d get wafts of really lovely, interesting fragrance. This morning when I woke up I had to check what my fragrance was from last night because it smelled amazing.
Today i’m reliving the magic. It’s only a 20 second attack before it becomes 10 hours of lovely for me. Definitely worth it.

  • Melanie says:

In a cloud of loveliness today, back in the office but my little box of samples from LKNU arrived. Insert happy dance. Wearing Maxed Out (4160 Tues) and Lumberjack (Strangers) left hand and arm. Right hard side – Interdit Absente (Daniel Josier) and Dodo (Zoologist)
Maxed Out & Lumberjack not what i expected – both quite lovely and ‘green’. Think i was expecting big, woodsy scents. Later I will have to double check the notes.
Have a few others to report on another day.

  • Brigitte says:

Continuing with vintage Bal…. tomorrow I will repeat…this time with 30 sprays!!!

  • Portia says:

Wore Lโ€™Artisan Al Oudh this morning. It was a perfect fit.
After cleaning the house to spotless I’m bathed in my decant of Greg Lauren Barneys New York. I was sent a decant long after the perfume was out of production and I have been eeking out my decant. Now I’m going to wear the heck outta it till it’s gone.

  • Melanie says:

Feeling better today – how could I not when I’m wearing vBrigitte amounts of L’Art Al Oudh. Working from home today – I do so love wearing my slippers to work!

    • Portia says:

HA! Wearing Brigitte amounts is a thing! Love it Melanie.
I hadn’t made my frag choice this morning, came here for inspiration and your Lโ€™Artisan Al Oudh will hit the spot perfectly. 11 sprays and I’m fully fragrant. MMMMMMMM
      Portia xx

    • Brigitte says:

      Oh
      My
      God

I love this!! Please continue to wear ” Brigitte” amounts! You smell amazing!!!!!!

  • SonomaVelvet says:

Yesterday was a more generous than usual helping of PdN’s SacreBlue… man that was fun, that one really changes over time and smells so good. Today I’m basking in orange blossom, Serge Lutens on one side and lots of Commodity Nector/Neroli on the other.

  • Brigitte says:

Vintage Bal a Versailles EDT, an early birthday present from PL67. There is a story behind this fragrance for me and if Portia ever resurrects APJ I will tell it-LOL!

    and 20 sprays!!!!

  • Portia says:

Today is sunny but cooler. A perfect autumn day really.
Sprayed on Brigitte amounts of La Colle Noire by Dior.
    Spiced fruity roses. GORGEOUS!

    • Brigitte says:

Ha ha!!! Keep ON spraying “Brigitte” amounts of anything that you may wear!!! Life is too short!!! Be a sillage monster !!!

  • Melanie says:

Struggling a bit today, feet & heart are heavy – hoping Desert Marocain will keep me from getting too low.
Maybe if the post gets through today , a little blind buy of Joop Le Bain might bring a smile.

    • Portia says:

Joop! Le Bain! I love it. Hardly anyone wears it anymore. So smooth and cool.
Fingers crossed you love it as much as I do.
      Hope you feel better soon,
      Portia xx

    • Brigitte says:

LDDM is gorgeous and I hope it lifts your spirits, Melanie!

  • Maya says:

SL Iris(h) Silver Mist. It fits with this blustery, rainy, extremely windy day.

  • Cassieflower says:

EL Sensuous Nude today. Yesterday was a Baiser Vole for Easter lily.

  • Brigitte says:

    No 19 Poudre

  • Portia says:

Had the most gorgeous Bubble Bath, scented with the very last of my Basil & Lemon Korres. Thinking a big bottle, even of Shower Gel, is always a cause for celebration around here. I’m hoping to empty a few while on lock down. See if I can get half the shelf empty. Then I can spend a lovely hour or two going through and picking new bottles/tubes from the drawer.
SOTD over the top, Granville by DIOR.

  • SonomaVelvet says:

Happy Easter everyone. I wore one of my absolute favourites Un Lys today. Seemed like lily was the way to go. I huffed my wrists and then my Easter lily and then my wrist and then the plant all day.

  • Ingeborg says:

SOTE Equistrius, interesting and yet so easy to wear.

  • springpansy says:

This weekend was Profumum Ichnusa and today, the gorgeous but discontinued Shiseido Inoui. Completely different and both beautiful. Wonder if I have any other fragrances that start with i…

    • Portia says:

      Hep Sprinfpansy,
I never tried Shiseido Inoui. What’s it like?
I know I could look it up but it’s so much better to get a spritzed on experience.

  • Ingeborg says:

I am wearing Osmanthus Interdite today, a light floral with the tiniest hint of leather. Iโ€™m happy to have a decant, but this does not last well on my skin, so wouldnโ€™t buy a full bottle. Anyway, it seems I stick with the true and tested favourites of mine these days, even if Iโ€™m fine with the restrictions we live under (just hope they wonโ€™t be necessary for many months).

  • Amy says:

Wearing La Fille de Berlin today. It sort of fits my mood. Somewhat moody, even gloomy name, but utterly cheerful scent. Which means what? That I am worried about the world, but myself quite happy to work from home, hang out with my person and the cats, and have Zoom conversations with dear friends who live too far away to see as much as I want.

  • AnnieA says:

Wearing L’Heure Exquise. Usually when I work at home I pull out the big guns, but my reaction has been to wear pretty spring scents, sometimes changing it up later in the day.

  • Brigitte says:

    Jungle Elephant
    20 sprays
A 93 lb walking cardamom custard

  • Portia says:

Just before I go to bed I’m spritzing Fin du monde by ELdO. It doesn’t wear on me at all like the notes list, except maybe the popcorn and some resinous darkness.

  • SonomaVelvet says:

I’m enjoying a pretty big splash of Chanel #5 today from a bottle from the 80’s. I wish the juice they make now smelled like this

  • Ingeborg says:

I am wearing Guerlain AA Mandarine Basilic. It is one one of three scents I have available. I am visiting my father during part of Easter, we celebrated his birthday two days ago. It felt important to go here and it is good to be in a house with a large garden. I would not have travelled had nobody been able to drive me. Iโ€™m still feeling unsure about public transport, especially in and around Oslo.

    • SonomaVelvet says:

Mandarine Basilic is a long time favourite of mine, especially in the summer. Is Norway not in lockdown?

      • Ingeborg says:

Not complete lockdown in Norway. But weโ€™re not allowed to visit cabins/ summer houses and all pubs and most restaurants are closed, as well as many shops, all hairdressers, schools and universities. We figured going away to our very closest family was okay, it even felt essential after self-isolating since March 12, more or less. We donโ€™t meet up with friends now, only online, FaceTime and so on. My employer has told me we will keep on working from home for some time after Easter. We have more restrictions on movement and personal freedom now than we have ever had since 1945. Unemployment is also like in the hard 30s.

  • Amateur Dilettante says:

I have Zoologist Elephant on today and itโ€™s just gorgeous! I liked it before, but now Iโ€™m in love. Lol, perfume is where I can fall in love with something new everyday.

  • SonomaVelvet says:

I know it’s good Friday today but it feels an awful lot like all the other days. I’m still working online as if it were any other day. But the sun is shining and it’s warmed up a bit so I’m going to go for my walk and enjoy the several sprays of Iris Poudre I’ve got going. MMMMMMmmmmm Thank you Frederic Malle

  • Dina C. says:

Our temperatures took a dip overnight, so it’s cool and windy today. I took advantage and brought out Mitsouko edt. Smells grand even if I don’t go anywhere.

  • Brigitte says:

    Jo Malone Vintage Gardenia
    24 sprays

    • SonomaVelvet says:

Love love love Vintage Gardenia but not very often anymore as I’m down to the last 5mls or so, and it’s not replaceable. Enjoy!

      • Brigitte says:

It IS replaceable!! It’s in the archive section of the JoMalone website! Along with French Lime Blossom, Black Vetyver Cafe, Vanille and Anise, Nutmeg and Ginger and a few others. Go get yourself a backup bottle!!!

    • Portia says:

WOW! 24 sprays! You are FRAGRANT

  • MMKinPA says:

Gearing up with my home sewn mask to go to the grocery store. Iโ€™m testing a couple of Bonds – High line and Greenwich Village from a handful of samples a friend gave me. high line is ok if not terribly interesting green; not a fan of GV – something I donโ€™t like in there. Later today Iโ€™m going to wear Insolence edp.

  • Cassieflower says:

Orange Sanguine. I defy a bad mood to creep up on me while Iโ€™m wearing this!

  • matty1649 says:

I’m feeling a bit down today. I will cheer myself up with L’Instant XXXX

    • Cassieflower says:

Wear several Guerlains today Matty. Letโ€™s start counting the days until we see the little glimmer of freedom again.

  • Portia says:

Had a bunch of things on today but the NEW thing I’m wearing right now is Fleur Diamantine by Maison Crivelli! Unbelievably beautiful. A greenery and white floral that bucks most trends. A little like Grandiflora Michel but not at all like it. Cooler and softer, softer in character not heft. I’m crazy for it.
    Portia xx

  • Today I wore Calligraphy Saffron by Aramis. I loved every minute of it.

    • Gina T. says:

I haven’t worn that one in a while.

    • Portia says:

      Hi TPA
This and the rose one have been in my cart at least 100 times since they were released but they never end up in the checkout.
I really like them, have worn and smelled them on others but for some reason i never pull the trigger.
