Odoon by Pekji

Hey there Posse! Odoon is todays offering. The Peckji brand is creative directed by my buddy Omar. A crew of us met in Paris a few years ago and while Michael & Scott went back with most of them to smell and critique the whole line Anna Maria, Tara and I had cultural stuff that needed doing. Naah, I can’t remember exactly but it was probably one of the great and grand art museums or 31 rue Cambon. ANYWAY, we didn’t get in on the ground floor. The crew at dinner were waxing lyrical about these bloody amazing, boundary pushing, works of genius.

Then somehow they never got on my radar again until recently when our newest Aussie retail and distributor crew LKNU got the set. Suddenly galvanised into action I tested them, fell madly in love and bought the lot. GAH! They are bloody amazing. So clever and a little bit weird, but wearable too. I am embarrassingly evangelical about them now and won’t shut up to all the perfumista crew here in Oz.

What constitutes niche in modern terms? Niche means (to me) that it will appeal to a small section of the perfume wearing masses. Further, even a small section of perfumistas. Niche means holding your fragrance to the highest standards. For example; boundary pushing, often confrontational, nuanced, tapestried, created with care and attention to detail. Not using familiar tropes unless you toss out the rule book and reinvent. Currently, greedy, lazy, stupid hustlers who wouldn’t know good, smart fragrance if it was presented to them make a lot of swill.

How does Odoon smell? Like someone who REALLY loves perfume and is dedicated to making something special made it. A real perfumista got behind the wheel and created magic. The whole line is like this. Don’t take my word for not though. You definitely need to sample them all. So you can smell the difference. Pekji are mind blowingly good shit.

Pine resin, ashes in a cold fire pit, wood chipping, incense: and how does this mercurial mixture not have roasting coffee beans, beeswax furniture polish or vanilla listed? Odoon is a feral shapeshifter, veering between cold and hot, dank and steamy. It needs to be worn on skin half a dozen times to even start giving up its secrets. Dark, deep and brightly burnished and not for the faint of heart. Consequently Odoon is perfume for people who LOVE scent and fragrance. No room for dilettantes.

If you like smoke in fragrance Cinnamon chatted about some.

Now it’s getting cooler in your Northern Hemisphere I reckon Odoon could be a perfect fit.
Oh, and sorry for the rant. I get excited.

Wonder if the line is available here. Will have to take a look. I’ve discovered that the line Patty mentioned can be found on Etsy. So many things are possible.

      Hey Cinnamon,
I hope there is somewhere you can try them. It’s sad to me that so few people know Pekji. They are brilliant.

I love what I’ve sniffed if Omar’s work. I got the original releases. Whilst they aren’t everyday wear for me, they are superbly well crafted & what niche perfumery should be
