Chanel’s Bois des Iles (part of the Rue Cambon collection) is my grown-up girl scent.
Notes: Jasmine, Damask Rose, Ylang-YLang, Bitter Almond, Gingerbread, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Sandalwood, Vetiver
Chanel Bois de Iles was created by Ernest Beaux (he also created Chanel No. 5), this is a cool fragrance. Not like cold, but as in soothing cool, like a river on a summer day. While many florals are listed in this fragrance, this never feels like a floral fragrance to me. It goes on with a burst of notes, then it just soothes into a delicious scent. It lingers throughout the day with the Sandalwood and Vanilla, but not in any gourmandy way at all. It is perfection.
Chanel Bois de Iles is one of my top five scents. It is the one I reach for when I am feeling confident or wanting confidence. When I don’t know what I’m in the mood for, I’m always in the mood for this.
No, Chanel Bois de Iles is not the Holy Grail fragrance yet. This is just a much beloved friend in my fragrance wardrobe.
My Holy Grail!
I am very glad there are no floral notes in it, to my nose, either. Just smooth warm woods.
