Luca Turin reviews Ormonde Jayne Ta’if
As long as great reviewers keep targeting my favorite perfumes, I can spare y’all my feeble efforts. Completely agree with him that Ormonde Jayne is doing some of the most interesting perfuming out there.
This quote Luca picked out from a Raymond Chandler novel about Ormonde Jayne Ta’if really does say it all about this fragrance. Hmm, now how do I blockquote a quote from another blog? Well, we’ll just go with your standard blockquote.
Wear it, as Raymond Chandler said, when the desert wind blows, “one of those hot dry Santa Anas that come down through the mountain passes and curl your hair and make your nerves jump and your skin itch. On nights like that every booze party ends in a fight. Meek little wives feel the edge of the carving knife and study their husbands’ necks. Anything can happen. You can even get a full glass of beer at a cocktail lounge”.
Ormonde Woman is my absolute favorite, followed by Isfahan or Isfarkand or whatever it’s calling it now, then, in no particular order, Ta’aif and Sampaquita and Tolu. I like the others, but they just weren’t really memorable. My husband had to get the, as he terms it, Louis Farrakhan (Isfarkand), and it’s sitting on my table waiting for him to get back from Florida tonight.
Admirable restraint here in no opening it.
There are a few of hers that are really nice. I ordered their samples this past summer. I really loved Ishafan(I don’t know if that was spelled right) and Tolu and Ta’if being my favorites. What are your favorites?
