What Do We Want This Fall?

As I’m wrapping up my summer boredom with perfume, I’m walking that little line between  needing to still wear lighter summer perfumes and pulling out what I think of as my “serious” perfumes, which makes me think about th upcoming fall/winter season, which is traditionally the time when all the new releases come out that I think of as the heavy hitters.

Serge Noire completely worked for me, and I find myself wearing it regularly, but I’ve heard a lot of grousing about the heavy cumin in it.

I liked Feerie a lot, will love it more at a lower price point.  I think Cartier Roadster kills.  Creed Love in Black shocked me with how much I liked it.

Those are my favorites so far of the early entrees.

But what new release am I most looking forward to?  Serge Lutens El Attarine and the new Frederic Malle Dans Tes Bras sounds interesting.  Those are the biiiiiiig new releases that everyone wants to smell.  All three of the new Bodice-Ripping Guerlains I definitely want to smell – I’m just overlooking the trope that came with their release.  The new Amouages, Lyric for men and women, sound interesting, and I’m more interested in them because they did a lot that was right with the Jubilation releases, while keeping the men’s and women’s versions completely unique.

If you have to rank the top Five fall releases that you’re most anxious to smell – before you read any reviews –  what would they be?

BTW, speaking of new releases, Andy was kind enough to send out extra samples of his new Vetiver perfume, so I’ll have a drawing from comments to this post and give away those samples.

    Hiya there again!
As this is the post where everybody seems to talk about El Attarine..and I got the opportunity to sniff it yesterday (I received Serge’s “solid-wax-non-export-perfume book/leaflet” 🙂 by the way..cute!) Ok,you don’t get the same result from sniffing a solid perfume than a normal one, but at least I got an idea about what it’s like! And it’s really nice! For me,it’s all about the apricot, with just a little spicy something (but no jasmine here either). And I have to include Love in Black in my list..

  • Eileen says:

Hmm.. I tried Love in Black and am still thinking about it. The notes sound great, but the scent isn’t doing what I expected on my skin. Serge Noire is quite nice on me – not too much cumin but enough to keep the scent interesting. Overall though, not FBW. Dans tes Bras sounds like it won’t work on my skin, so I’m waiting for reviews before I get too excited. And the Guerlains just don’t pique my interest (though I really want to read a novel by whoever wrote that prose – could be quite a bodice-ripper!).

I’m most interested in Vetiver Dance but don’t want to get my hopes up. If I like it I’ll want a bottle and probably shouldn’t buy that right now. If I don’t like it, that will be one more of the big fall releases that didn’t work for me. :-w

Please do enter me in the drawing if I’m not too late.

  • jawhara says:

Oh, the glory that is El Attarine!
I ordered one as soon as they had it online on 2 September (unsniffed!) and got it last Friday… How I love living in Europe!
This is how to survive Autumn until I finally can ritualistically take out my Fendi Theorema in December.
El Attarine is the most wonderful concoction of apricot and cumin imaginable. I don’t get much wood, nor jasmine, nor any of the aldehydes Luca Turin mentiones (good news!!!), just a burst of something “green” (saps?) and then apricots and cumin twirling around each other. It’s not really fresh apricots, it reminds me more of some kind of Egyptian dried apricot candy called Qamar ad-Din, which is both sweet and zingy at the same time. El Attarine is sweet, but neither cloying nor foody. Rather, it’s almost a skin scent kind of fragrance, with very good lasting power but quite modest sillage. It is a very happy, comforting, cozy fragrance, and it indeed is solar.
To me, it feels like a bright morning in Marrakesh, slowly walking over the main square and into the spice souk, all bright blue skies and sunshine, the air still keeping some of the night’s crispness but with the promise of a very hot day.

  • Pam says:

Oooh, sign me up for the drawing, please!
And add me to the list of folks eagerly awaiting El Attarine 😉

  • allabouteve says:

First of all: You’re seeing (reading) the proud owner of a brand new bell jar of Encens et Lavande!!!I just received it yesterday from my cousin who was in Paris last week for her holidays!Wow,I have to say…they’re pretty small, those famous bell jars!!Anyway..wonderful and delicious! But I couldn’t say if I love it more than Gris Clair..
And, by the way, I have to thank you all, because, if I got to buy it, it was after reading all your comments-reviews-opinions on it here at the Posse!
I also received three samples: Serge Noir (I was waiting for that one: I think I like it..(I mean, even my father liked it, who is not really a big spicy perfume fan!!)), Chypre Rouge and Louve (which I had already tried on, but it’s good to have them here with me at home!:)So that’s part of what I am wanting to smell on me this fall..
What I am dying to smell this fall is actually not “new stuff”..it’s just new to me! (yup, I’m pretty much a prefume-fanatic-virgin!)
So that’s why, for example, I want to go through the complete Ormonde Jayne sample set I ordered and received last week. It’s really cute in that pouch it comes in..I already have one love at first sight/smell: Ormonde Jayne Woman!Wow…incredibly spicy and feminine and powdery wonderful! The others are yet to be smelled!

Also, I’m interested in some Donna Karans I heard are coming out again and that you’re all nuts about: Chaos and Black Cashmere!Hopefully they’ll be available here in Europe, at least someday..

I’m also wild about (finally) getting to resmell Apres L’Ondee..I ordered my own edt after reading about it here and smelling the perfume in a cute little “only Guerlain”perfume store(lucky her-the shop-owner- she still has a bottle of pure perfume from something like the last century and I got to put one some of that incredible juice!!).Unfortunately it’s taking a lifetime to receive that bottle…
    And that’s about it…
    Greetings from Spain!!!:)

    • Musette says:

      Hello!

For a newbie, you’re doing exceptionally well!(this is from one newbie to another, btw:-). I suffered some pangs of jealousy, reading your Apres L’Ondee experience!!! Out here in Central Illinois I get to sniff vintage Tommy Girl.

      • allabouteve says:

        Hi there!
Well, thank you! But if you have plenty of free time in the office and are always hanging around perfume blogs…well, at least you have good teachers and that’s a good way to start! First I read about things here, then I got out and try to sniff! And yes, beeing able to sniff the violet wonder Apres L’Ondee in perfume form is, is definitely worth a jealousy attack!! And you can’t imagine how happy I am about Jicky. In no time, I figured out I can’t live without it!!!
Have a great day out there in far away Illinois!

  • Devon says:

The Guerlains for sure and L’Artisans as well.

  • Patricia says:

don’t have five… but i’m down for Beige by Chanel, as well as the new Guerlains.

    yeah, that’s pretty much it….

  • Shelley says:

This just in! Put Parfumerie Generale Felanilla at the top of my list…wood, hay, amber, iris…spice, of course (saffron)…oh, I don’t care if it sounds formulaic. Happy me!

  • Jennifer S. S. says:

I haven’t smelled Insolence yet, or that Feerie. Please enter me in the drawing.

  • CH says:

I’m looking forward to sampling Serge Lutens El Attarine (#1).
The new Guerlains are a must (#2)
Andy Tauer’s Vetiver is a must, too. (#3)
    Ex Vinis line (#4)
    Amouage Lyric (#5)

I cheated a bit and counted the Guerlains and the Ex Vinis lines as one scent. 😉

I’ve already tried Feerie (liked it but it’s a bit sweet) and Love in Black (really like it!) Serge Noir would have been perfect except for a curry-like note in the middle.

I would love to be entered in the drawing. Thanks! 🙂

  • GGS says:

    Only 5???
    By Kilian Prelude to Love
    A.Tauer Vetiver Dance
    Chanel Beige
    Amouage Lyric
    Serge Lutens El Attarine

Already tried Serge Lutens. Nice, but I love the cinnamon & spice so prefer his 5 O’Clock Au Gingembre and/or Rousse. Serge Noir is darker, more peppery, and the cumin didn’t overwhelm.

  • Vida says:

OMG, I can’t believe no one’s mentioned the NEW NEIL MORRIS scent coming out soon!!! It’s supposed to be stunning…can’t wait!

  • Claudia says:

I would love to sniff the Serge Noire! And of course, the Vetiver, so please include me in the drawing. 🙂

  • Helen says:

oh, yes, and would love to be considered for the drawing :”>

  • Helen says:

The new AT Vetiver is at the top of my list! Also the Lutens, definitely both Lyrics…

  • Gretchen says:

No fall weather on the horizon here until October at the earliest, so I’m still rotating summer choices. However, I look forward to trying Amouage Lyric (that red bottle is a beauty, too, at least in photos), Love in Black, and (despite the dreary name) Beige. And Tauer’s Vetiver, so please enter me in the drawing.

  • Linda says:

Yes, Felanilla is the one that is tempting me. And Roadster. And Lutens Noire. And of course Andy’s Vetiver Dance, which I can’t wait for… I’m an Andy-phile. 🙂 Can I be in the drawing too?

  • Emmy says:

Please consider me for the drawing. 🙂 I think my top 5 is leaning towards El Attarine, Dans tes Bras, Encens Flamboyant, Musc Botanique, and the new Guerlains.

  • sara says:

I would love to be entered into the drawing! I am most interested in trying the new Guerlains and the new Serge–I haven’t liked any of his past half-dozen releases but a girl can dream, right?8-|

  • Aparatchick says:

Like Mindy upthread, I’m a noob, although it’s amazing how quickly my credit card is helping me get up to speed. I’m still trying to catch up with everything I’ve missed! I’ve purchased L’air and Insense Rose (full bottles!) and loved them; I’m definitely looking forward to Andy Tauer’s newest, so please enter me in the drawing. And despite the fevered prose of their press release, I’m definitely going to sample the Guerlains.

  • Christina H says:

Ooh, I can’t limit it to just five. I want to smell the new Guerlains, the brand new PGs due out it October (Felanilla and the other one), the new Amouages, Prelude to Love, heck, pretty much all of them! That Felanilla sounds eminently FB-worthy, though!

  • DPearson says:

Please consider me for the drawing. I loved Andy’s perfumes.

  • divinemama says:

Also looking forward to trying the Farmacia SS. Annunziata sample set I ordered yesterday. Some of their blends seem like they would be nice for cooler weather.

  • violetnoir says:

    Oops–Stop the presses!

Luckyscent has the Bertrand Duchafour exclusive coming in October, plus Le Labo has their Los Angeles fragrance coming out soon.

    I love LA!

  • Natalie says:

Man, I’m still working my way through my list of old perfumes to smell, and you’re asking about new ones?! That said, please enter me into the drawing — I’m definitely still a novice at this, but I’ve been quite taken with the Tauers I’ve sampled. I’m too ignorant to understand why, but somehow they’re missing whatever note or quality it is that makes so many other perfumes smell vile on me.

    • Patty says:

Andy is a genius, so, yes, they smell better, and he uses better base ingredients where a lot of the mass marketed perfumes have what I refer to as too much cheap filler. Sorta like McDonald’s hamburgers, they work okay and sometimes are the perfect thing to have, but never mistake it for a real hamburger.8-|

  • violetnoir says:

I am very curious to smell:

    Beige
    Elle Intense
    Prelude to Love
Dans tes Bras (that one looks good!)
El Attarine (hey, I am always curious about the non-exports)

I “need” to smell Love in Black again and, even though I do not like cumin in large doses, will gladly try Serge Noire.

Also, what’s The Party? That will definitely be in my next order with TPC. :d

I am craving spicier fragrances, too, Patty, even though the temperature is up towards ninety degrees! Today I am wearing Jaipur Saphir, a fragrance I believe you introduced me too. It is wonderful, perfect for summer, with just a touch of spiciness.

I have also been wearing my new bottle of Lexington Avenue. I admire the “peach and floor wax,” as Dr. Turin called it, of Chinatown, but Lexington Avenue is a bit softer and rounder for my taste (although I understand the Chinatown body creme is wonderful…and I loves me some good body cream!!).

    Hugs and love!

  • Veronica says:

I have some new Liz Zorn samples coming in the mail( Filigree, Domino Viole, Cordovan Rose), I’m so looking forward to trying those!! Also, the new PGs due out in October that Marina blogged about today and El Attarine. And of course, Andy’s Vetiver Dance!
Would love to be included int the drawing, thanks!

  • Karen G says:

I’m not super excited about any of them except Chanel Beige. (I know Chanel’s all about elegance and what-not, but really, could that name get any more… understated?) And the “Bodice Ripper Guerlains” as you call them…well the sheer ridiculousness of the ad copy intrigues me enough to try them.

I have no expectations about El Attarine. Serge Noire was straight up BO on me. Honestly, it was soooo bad. I never get indolic or sweaty notes or cumin when everyone else does, but holy moly, I sure “got” it this time!

Would love to be thrown in the draw for Andy’s Vetiver. Thanks much!

    • Karen G says:

Just had to add : The new PGs sound delish. I just read about them on PST. Yay! Something to be excited about!

      • Patty says:

I just read about those too by Marina, and I’m totally jacked. That one, the nilla thing, sounds absolutely scrumptious.

  • Lindsey9107 says:

Oooh I forgot to mention I’m excited for the new Le Labo. I used to be all fired up about Juliette Has a Gun Citizen Queen but the long wait has dulled my enthusiasm a bit.

  • Lindsey9107 says:

Hey Patty – I’m super excited to try El Attarine. Comparisons on a blog to the Bois series was all I needed to hear. Either I’m a total slave to trends or my own taste at the moment is fortuitously aligned with current fashionable notes, because I’m powerless to resist a woody violet fragrance. Thus, Dans tes Bras excites me too!

Just making a start into vetiver appreciation…I’ve been enjoying No. 19 and Sycomore. Love Andy Tauer so def. want to try Vetiver Dance. Thanks for the drawing, and I’m watching TPC anxiously for the arrival of El Attarine and DTB!

  • Marina says:

The new Malle did not work on me at all, but at all! 🙁 Same for Serge Noire. The rest of those you listed I was shocked to like too.

But what I want this Fall is…comfort and serenity. In perfume and in general 🙂

    • Patty says:

Really? No on the Malle? Hmmm, I can’t wait to sniff it. Most of his work to one degree or another on me, except French Lover, which I’m anosmic to.

It’s been a nice fall so far, I’m really enjoying it, but there are some losers out there. Magnifique, I’m looking at you!

  • Would love to try “Love in Black”…..but I’m trying to live more frugally and simply….giving up expensive scent for a while….but would still love to be in the drawing! 8-|

  • Linda B says:

Oh boy–I’m a rookie and am backpedaling to catch up with you! I did try Serge Noire and found it to be a lighter version of Dior Addict, with at least one note missing. That being said, it’s staying power was unbelievable and I did find myself re-sniffing throughout the day. This is usually my type of scent but found it to be….meh (on me). Would I love to smell this on my man? HELLS YEAH!
The new Guerlains I’m sure will be sniffed and I hope to try Beige. So far, nothing else has peaked my interest, but again, I’m still waiting on a sample of L’Heure Bleu to sniff for the 1st time (I told you I was new!!!).
Would love to be entered into the drawing….thanks!

  • Kathryn says:

What I most want to smell is Tauer’s Vetiver Dance, so please enter me in the draw for that! Of course, I am also looking forward to the FM Dans tes Bras. How could a Roucel musk be less than wonderful? I’m hoping to get a fix on what the Cashmeran in DTB smells like. If I have sniffed that note before, I haven’t identified it as such. For a another take on musk, I was lucky enough to come across a bit of Strange Invisible Perfumes Musc Botanique, which I think is pretty amazing. I think it was you, Patty, who observed that those SIP perfumes may be strange, but they are certainly not invisible. And finally, I’ll join the line for Chanel Beige, even although the name makes it sound pretty bland. I consistently find that the new Chanels that seem uninteresting at first keep growing on me. What I am wearing a lot these days is Sycomore. It didn’t impress me that much to begin with, but now I am finding all sorts of interesting notes in it, quietly swirling around the smoky woods and vetiver. (Or maybe it’s my neighbor’s new wood furnace??? It’s starting to get cold at night up here in the hills of Maine.)

  • Billy D says:

Meh, nothing has really worked for me yet. I’m not that excited about El Attarine because it sounds like nothing I’d like–immortelle and I do not get along.

The only ones I’m vaguely interested in is Prelude to Love from By Kilian (by By Kilian?) and Dans Tes Bras. I’m hoping against hope that this might be a FM that I like. Cuz none have so far! But I’ve recently gotten into the By Kilian line and its quiety gorgeous.

Do Fuel for Men and Chaos from DK count? I’ve never smelled either, but their rerelease has got me excited. Pineapple and gasoline? Count me in!

Oooh, and the John Galliano debut fragrance! And the new Tom Ford private blends. And the Comme de Garcons collaboration frags.

    OK SO A LOT!

  • noyna says:

Would love to be entered in the drawing. Now that I’m back in the States, there’s just too much to sniff — I hardly know where to begin. Well, I suppose I should start by unpacking my boxes before I rush off to sample perfume…

  • divinemama says:

Not trying to be a post whore but is there a reason my emoticon above didn’t work? Am I missing the trick?

    • Francesca says:

I don’t think you can insert an emoticon in the middle of a line you’ve already typed; so you either have to type them as you go, or copy and delete everything after the emoticon and then paste your text back in after it.
      Hope this helps! 😉

  • divinemama says:

GOOD MORNING…more coffee please! What I mean above is…

Oops that would be Lyric’s…not Lyris’s.

    Geez!

  • divinemama says:

    Oops that would be Lyric’s…not Lyric’s. :”>

  • divinemama says:

I am one of those crazy people who haven’t yet tried a SL. Actually, I am afraid to, since I know I will want several of them in my collection. Maybe I will get to them this fall/winter?

I am looking forward to the AG amber/incense/musk quad to hit the US stores…have samples of them on my TPC wishlist.

Chanel Beige is another I can’t wait to try. The Lyris’s sound interesting too, as I am a fan of the rose.

Apparently I love Vetiver, as it is in most of the new scents I have loved. Will see if I can get more samples of various Vetivers to try this fall/winter.

Please enter me in the drawing for Tauer’s Vetiver Dance.

  • Musette says:

I’m interested in the new Malle because I keep having minor issues with the old/current ones and, given all the blog-hype, wonder if it’s just me (right now it’s pouring with rain and I am stuffed up to the max, so it could smell like cat pee and I wouldn’t know it).

I’m also very intrigued by the notion of Chanel Beige. Chanel is probably the only house that could capture my fancy with that resurrected name (doesn’t hurt that Mme did such incredible work with that color). The notes, such as I can tell, sound very un-Chanel

    xo

  • Sarah says:

After having fallen in love with Bvlgari Black, you could put anything in a black bottle and I’d give it a shot (except P. Diddy’s frags…that’s just a terrifying concept)…blame it on my usually-latent goth side. Only one of the Guerlain bodice-rippers sounded intriguing-I think the oriental brulant? I’d be thrilled to find a store nearby that carried any SL, but El Attarine sounds more interesting than Noir(e?). I would love a sample of the Tauer Vetiver. Everything he does sounds wonderful.

  • Mindy says:

I am a complete noob at this whole perfume thing, so I look forward to other people’s comments. I can’t believe how quickly I’ve become addicted to fine perfumes. I feel naked if I leave the house without wearing one. I also feel kind of bad when I don’t like something that is so highly touted. But I guess that’s part of the adventure in learning, huh?;)

    • Patty says:

Hey, welcome to perfume! The coolest thing about it? there is no right or wrong answer. If someone views Mitsouko as the greatest creation on the face of the earth, but you despise it, you’re both right! Same with if you love J. Lo Glow because it smells great on you and you get loads of compliments every time you wear it, then it’s a great perfume for you.

it’s a very cool hobby to have. I think that’s why I really am getting into wine now, it has the same taste factor going on.

  • mj says:

I’m very curious to smell Feerie and the Guerlains after the crazy hype. And I’m very into vetiver right now.

  • Carol Sasich says:

It is still so warm and humid here in Fl with the hurricanes comin’ at us , but I’m dreamin of NYC in Oct and first on my list is Chanel Beige . I thought I wanted to sniff Aziyade but the snarky comment took the wind outa it…cumin/fruity , I dunno .
I sniffed the le Sac de Ma Mere Annick Goutal is doing for Aedes de Venustas I realize some don’t care for those boys over there but the fragrance rocks and I am SOOOO there to buy it first thing . I’ll share for those who don’t go . !!
Dunno how new Miller et Bertaux Shanti Shanti is but I’m curious about it too .
McCallef Avant Garde , another I’m curious about , it may not be that new but with luckyscent doing a trunk show for us I hope they brinng some of those hard to get scents…

    • Patty says:

Aziyade was pure cuminy monster on me, and it never, ever got better. I know some people love it, but it was just a big old disaster on my skin. If it had morphed, the open would have been fine, but youwzah!

  • Debbie says:

El Attarine, Rose Praline, Oriental Brulant, Amouage L-something for men and women.

I’d love to check out AT’s Vetiver.

OT, but do you know when MUA will see its top-25 list, Patty? I know you have been unbelievably busy, but I am eager to see it.

    😡

  • Kristy says:

Of course, looking forward to Chanel Beige since I loved Sycomore so much, but mostly – COMME DES GARCONS!!!!! eee. There’s supposed to be something like a whole FOUR new releases by them before next year I think. I personally am banking on buying a FB of the Comme des Garcons + Stephen Jones one – it comes in a mini hatbox, is all black and purple and one of the notes is ‘synthesized cyber aldehyde.’ It’s supposed to smell like “a violet hit by a meteorite.” This scent has been screaming my name for months now and I hope that someone else thinks so too and will get me a bottle for my birthday!

I want to try Vetiver Dance as well but I’m cautiously optimistic about that one. I love Vetiver but haven’t found a Tauer that I loved yet.

  • Molly G says:

Ooh, can I please get in on the Vetiver Dance drawing? I have also loved everything I have ever smelled from him, and his scents all tend to have an arid quality about them that make them perfect for autumn.

Vetiver Dance (was gonna shorten it to VD before I realized how gross that sounds) is definitely in my top 5 for fall. I am also totally salivating in anticipation over El Attarine… also Serge Noire, which I have not yet had a chance to try. White Patchouli definitely merits a sniff, and I am super curious about both PdE Aziyadé (sounds like a kissing cousin to Arabie) and PG Psychotrope (because the weird ones always intrigue me).

  • kathleen says:

I am anticipating Chanel Beige coming thru my door in a week or so. I am also keen to try El Attarine, the Guerlains, Vetiver Dance, and Dans Tes Bras sounds like something I would like as well.

  • Olfacta says:

Well, shoot. I don’t keep up with all the new releases except for here and a couple of other places.

Vetiver Dance is the one I’m really looking forward to. I’ve never met a Tauer I didn’t like, and love vetiver anyway. El Attarine of course. The new Malle. The Serge Noire intrigues me because the commentary on it is so love it or hate it. The jury’s still out on the rest, and I haven’t had time to read the fashion mags. Is that four? If somebody threw sample of the new Guerlains at me, I’d certainly smell them.

  • Shelley says:

Erm, I haven’t experienced Serge Noire, but I have me one of those funky bottles of Kingdom. Was not the big talk with Kingdom, er, cumin? Is there coded language going on here? Is one person’s “cumin” going to be another person’s, um, personal odor?

I’m busy hunkered in with all of these samples and decants I’ve collected over the summer, and I (fortunately, in a way) really am not yet in a mindset that has me searching for more. Really trying to get a handle on what I have, pause, reflect, learn.

That said…as a new recruit to the perfume gang, I am waiting for the re-released DK Chaos to appear in my neck of the woods. A new Frederick Malle will always capture my interest, and the Chanel Beige has me curious. A new Tauer, too, will make me raise my head from the sand.

I’m going to risk ridicule and say that I am curious about Blue Velvet (Kate Moss) as well, because I am suckered in by the concept of a modern L’Heure Bleu. Would that it would be good…. :-s

  • Francesca says:

I’m curious about El Attarine, Dans tes Bras, and Beige, too. Oh, and the Party in New York. Was very surprised I liked Serge Noire as much as I did. I’ll have to try and pick out the cumin–I got clove (which normally I hate except in a hand-made pomander)and wintergreen. I don’t know if I’d ever want a full bottle of it, but I’ll certainly use up the sample I have, and then maybe get a little decant. I see wearing it on a bitterly cold day.

Would love to be entered for the Vetiver.

  • Kim says:

I’m very much looking forward to the new Guerlains, Cartier Roadster, and Lutens.

Also, the new Chanel – Beige – they have been doing such a nice job of their exclusives, I look forward to their new relseases. And I would love a parfum strength of some of the Chanel Exclusifs – wish, wish, wish!! (would love to be in the draw)

    • Kim says:

Also just read that Lutens Borneo 18– will be the export release soon – so am really looking forward to that!! 😡 😡

  • GalileosDaughter says:

I was very pleasantly surprised by Love in Black too. Love it.

I’m eager to try Beige, El Attarine, Fleur de Liane, and Rose Praline.

I don’t need to be in the Vetiver Dance sample draw; I was lucky enough to win two samples from Andy. I adore it. I think it’s going to be a huge hit.

  • Louise says:

I must be in stage 3 of Perfumista disease. There’s very little that inspires lust right now 😮 .

Serge Noire went all yucky bitterish on me (it wasn’t the cumin, just the blend); the new Pd’Es were disappointing-if there’s an all cumin/fruit scent, it’s Aziyade (though YuzuFou makes a nice summer scent); I turned Vetiver Dance to pickles, so sad 🙁

I will surely give the Elixirs a little try, and El Attarine’s immortelle sounds lovely, but “not heavy”-oh, no, that’s what I rely on SL for 😕 ! Maybe the new Amouges will float my boat?

Otherwise, I am truly wearing what I have, they are dear friends now 😡

  • Elle says:

Am extremely hopeful about the new Amouage scents and I hear there are two new PGs. Those top my list. Also want to smell the new FM. And I’m just keeping my fingers crossed about El Attarine, but am slightly anxious – don’t want to be disappointed. Am afraid I might be.

me! me! i wanna be entered!

as far as new releases go, i want to smell the new FM above all. while i read NST and am theoretically up to date on all the new releases, they tend to go in one eye and out the other and i forget which i want to smell, but off the top of my head, i want to smell secret obsession, david yurman, white patchouli, and the elixirs charnels. oh and insolence EDP. im over 5 now, but whatever. and its impossible for me to keep track of the niche new releases. i think they’ve outpaced the birth rate of several 3rd world countries.

I’m curious to know what you’ll think about the El Attarine, opinions have been varying wildly on that one, as it seems to be pretty changing on skin too. Also, heavy cumin in Serge Noire?? WAT? I swear, on me it’s the barest, tiniest hint of cumin… El Attarine is another story, although it still doesn’t go all crazy with it, it still remains rather subdued, all things considered.

Other than that, I’m in a frenzied lust over the new Malle (is it out already?), and over Oriental Brûlant, marzipan piggie and all 😉

Roadster seems quite interesting too. Well, considering its authorship, nothing surprising, right?

And I’m really, really eager to try Chanel Beige, whenever it finally shows up here. I mean, hawthorn and honey? How much more un-Chanel can you get? Sounds brilliant.

    • Patty says:

yeah, yeah, the Beige! I knew I forgot one.

Serge Noire was not even cuminy on me. I read somewhere that that note is really something else, but the name of it escapes me. A musc or incense note, I believe? it purrs on my skin.

Can’t wait on the El Attarine, I’m hoping I get to sniff it in about a week!

I am so excited to sniff the new Guerlains…they will have to be good to get over their over the top marketing though!

I totally agree re Feerie also – I was surprised, I didn’t think I would like it at all.

Re the fall releases – not sure what I want to sniff first!

  • Catherine says:

The new Guerlains are highest on my must-smell list, simply because I’ve recently fallen for some of the exclusives. Before a couple of months ago, I could only count Iris Ganache as a love, now… Fourth on my list is Prelude to Love. Only two of the original Kilians did anything for me, but his line has my respect. I’d love to see how he does citrus and iris. Fifth would be Dan tes Bras, yet I mention it because you asked for five. I have little hope that this scent will work for me (heliotrope and violet), yet sniffing it would still be a pleasure.

When, when, *when* is Ormonde Jayne coming out with a new scent?!?!

    • Patty says:

Great question. I know she had a baby in the last couple of years, and someone else manages the ormonde jayne shop, so maybe she’s just on hiatus? I hope she does something soon!

  • Elizabeth says:

I want to sniff El Attarine, Dans tes Bras, L’Artisan Aedes de Venustas and Vetiver Dance (I love every Tauer I’ve smelled so far ♥). I can’t think of a 5th – maybe some of the new Guerlains.

  • Calypso says:

Aha! I get to be first in line for the drawing. 🙂 That’s one I want to smell, plus the Serge Attarine. I shared my sample of Serge Noire with a friend here and she loved it but commented “It smells like a big furry dog doesn’t it?”! It’s still in the mid-90s every day here in Houston so I am not yet even dreaming of fall.
